Trimble Building Data plugin for Autodesk Fabrication CADmep and Fabrication ESTmep Setup Instructions *Note: Prior to starting, click on the link below and browse to the appropriate BD Fabrication installer to download and install it. Getting Started 1. Once installation has completed, open Autodesk Fabrication CADmep with any of the default Autodesk configurations HINT: Make sure to uncheck the Remember this next time option. 2. Next, navigate to the Add-ins ribbon tab and click on the Building Data button. 3. Enter your User Information
4. When this dialog opens, choose a path for the Data Root Folder and click Make New Folder. This will typically be a folder named ESTData at C:\ProgramData\BuildingData\Support on local installations or alongside your network database on your server. Select Labor: MCAA, Units: Imperial or Metric and User: Full. Click Save Settings 5. A BD Content Pack will need to be downloaded to begin. Select the appropriate Content Pack, click the check box then click the Download button. 6. When the File Download window appears, click on the checkbox and click Download. WARNING: Be sure to wait until the files have downloaded and unpacked before closing this dialog. 7. When the download is complete, close the File Download window, Building Data Library window and the Content Manager window. Completely close out of CADmep and re-launch it. 8. Navigate to the Add-ins ribbon tab and click on the Building Data button.
9. From the Building Data Library screen, select the Get BD Content Pack drop down arrow and pick the appropriate Content Pack. Click on the checkbox for it and uncheck the checkbox to the right of the List of Available Fittings option (if it is already checked) and then click the Download button below that. HINT: If the Building Data Library dialog does not appear, from the Building Data Content Manager dialog, Select Manage then Building Data Settings to open the Building Data Library screen. 10. When the File Download window appears, check the checkboxes and click Download. WARNING: Be sure to wait until the files have downloaded and unpacked before closing this dialog. 11. When the download is complete, close the Trimble Building Data dialogs and exit out of AutoCAD. 12. Restart Autodesk Fabrication CADmep and you should now see a Trimble Building Data configuration. Choose this configuration and click OK. HINT: If the configuration dialog does not appear for you, then you can get to it by launching EDITMAP.EXE from: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Fabrication 2018\CADmep
HINT: You may now choose to check the Remember this next time option to avoid seeing this dialog next time you open the Autodesk Fabrication CADmep software 13. If prompted for a username, enter Full and leave the password blank: 14. Next, navigate to the Add-ins ribbon tab and click on the Building Data button. 15. You may now update your list of available fittings from the Trimble Building Data web service. Place a check next to this option in the dialog and click Download
WARNING: If this is your first time, this download may take a long time. The time it takes to complete this step will vary based on your internet speed. Important: Content is regularly updated or added to Building Data so repeating this step will help to ensure that you see these changes and new fittings. 16. When the available fittings have been successfully downloaded, make sure all boxes are checked under Estimating Information and click the Download button to complete downloading all files. 17. Once the downloads are complete in the Autodesk Fabrication software, you should see services supplied by Trimble Building Data such as the ones shown below:
