3 Overview This end user installation and activation manual provides instructions for the 3D PDF Plug-ins for Autodesk products. Download Instructions 3D PDF Plug-ins for Autodesk products These instructions are for users who have recently downloaded or purchased 3D PDF Plug-ins for Autodesk products. If you have not already downloaded 3D PDF Plug-ins for Autodesk products please visit our website at About Running directly inside the Autodesk 2012 or 2013 software tool, tetra4d s plug-ins enable design creators to directly convert 2D and 3D CAD data to rich, interactive 3D PDFs for easier visualization, collaboration, and shared design reviews, with their extended teams. With the free Adobe Reader everyone on the extended team can interact with 3D design data without putting source intellectual property files at risk or requiring data recipients to download viewer applications. With up to 97% smaller files than the original 3D model, teams can easily conduct design reviews electronically whether they work within media and entertainment or with architects, designers, subcontractors, engineers, or visualization specialists. 2

4 System Requirements The 3D PDF Plug-ins for Autodesk Products support the following specific Autodesk applications: tetra4d Plug-in 3D PDF for AutoCAD Version 1.0, 32 bit or 64 bit 3D PDF for Revit Version 1.0, 32 bit or 64 bit 3D PDF for 3ds Max Version 1.0, 32 bit or 64 bit 3D PDF for Navisworks Version 1.0, 32 bit or 64 bit 3D PDF for Maya Version 1.0, 32 bit or 64 bit 3D PDF for Inventor Version 1.0, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Application Autodesk AutoCAD 2012, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk AutoCAD 2013, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Revit 2012, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Revit 2013, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk 3ds Max 2012, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk 3ds Max 2013, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Navisworks 2012, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Navisworks 2013, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Maya 2012, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Maya 2013, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Inventor 2012, 32 bit or 64 bit Autodesk Inventor 2013, 32 bit or 64 bit 3D PDF Plug-ins for Autodesk applications require about 100 MB of storage for the plug-in, components, and data (templates, images, etc.) 3D PDF Plug-ins for Autodesk products run as add-ons inside of the Autodesk applications, there are no special CPU or memory requirements. If you have ample power to run your Autodesk application, you can effectively create 3D PDFs using the respective tetra4d 3D PDF Plugin. Acrobat Reader 9.0 or later on Windows or Mac is needed to open the 3D PDF file. 3

5 Installation of the 3D PDF for Autodesk Note: Autodesk applications need to be installed prior to installing the 3D PDF Plug-in. Please log in to My tetra4d Account to download the latest version available: The following step are the same for all 3D PDF Plug-ins for Autodesk products from tetra4d. 1. Launch the appropriate 32 bit, or 64 bit tetra4d 3D PDF Plug-in required for your system and the appropriate Autodesk application. 2. Select the Setup Language option Press OK 3. The Welcome to 3D PDF for Autodesk Installation Wizard launches Choose Next 4

6 4. Read and accept the tetra4d, 3D PDF End User License Agreement. After reading, Choose Next 5. Confirm the default installation folder location. Choose Next 5

7 6. The Ready to Install window will launch. Choose Install 7. The installation process begins. 6

8 8. Once the installation of the setup process is complete, the final window appears. Choose Finish Note: A system restart may be required to fully complete the installation process of the 3D PDF Plug-in. Please follow the on screen instructions. 7

9 Registration and Activation 3D PDF for Autodesk There are two options in registering the 3D PDF Plug-in installation: Trial Mode and Activation. Following are procedures for both options. In both cases, open the default orthographic 3D view to enable the tetra4d tool bar. Press the Register button to launch the license dialog box. (The tetra4d toolbar will be located in the Add-ins contextual tab, or under a tetra4d menu, or as a tetra4d pull-down depending on the Autodesk product you use.) or Trial Mode The following are steps to activate a trial license which will run in trial mode for 21 days or the creation of 21 PDFs. 1. Select Get Trial License 8

10 2. Next, Press Request a Trial license 3. In the appropriate fields add: First and Last Name address Company Name Note: The 21 day trial license unlocks all capabilities in trial mode. A license will automatically be generated and sent to the address provided. 9

11 Once you receive the temporary license file via , download it, as you will use it to activate your trial version. 4. Press I already received a license file Select Purchase License to go to the tetra4d web store to purchase licenses. Select Continue My Trial to unlock all capabilities in trial mode for 21 days. Select Activate License to request and then install a license code. Select Help (Step by Step Instructions) for assistance with any of the above and for a product use tutorial. 5. The following dialog boxes will appear. 6. Press OK, and then navigate to select the license file received via , then press Open to begin your 21 day trial version. 1 0

12 NOTE: Should you have any problems getting your trial license, you can follow the manual process to accomplish the same. 1. Start the Application 2. Click Get Trial License button 3. Click Request a Trial license 4. Enter First and Last Name, Company and address, then click Copy to Clipboard. Send an to License@tetra4D.com with the information copied to the clipboard and a new license will be sent to you. 1 1

13 Activating a license To purchase a license for any 3D PDF Plug-in, press Purchase License to launch a new internet window to tetra4d s e-store. Follow the online instructions, and then proceed to activate your purchased license. If you have already purchased a 3D PDF Plug-in and have received a Software Key, enter your information in the fields as shown below to activate the license. 1. Start the Application 2. Click the Register button on the tetra4d toolbar. 3. Click Activate License 1 2

14 4. Next, click the I already received a software key option. 5. Fill in the appropriate information in the fields for your Name, Address, and Company Name. 6. Copy/Paste the Software Key in the appropriate field. (NOTE: the software key includes the plug-in name followed by five sections of generated numbers and letters) 7. Click Activate. The Software Key will automatically activate the product if you have a valid internet connection

15 License Information License and product version information can be found in the About option of your 3D PDF Plug-in toolbar.
