1 Manage Files The Manage Files tool is a file management system for your course. You can use this tool to organize and upload files associated with your course offering. We recommend that you organize your files into folders, creating a folder for each module of content. The functions you can perform in Manage Files can be divided into the following two categories: Organizing and managing files and folders perform basic tasks such as creating, editing, deleting, uploading, moving files and folders, and zipping and unzipping files. Creating topics from your files Create topics using files from your course content structure. Accessing Manage Files ӏ Uploading and Downloading Files ӏ Creating HTML and Text Files ӏ Zipping and Unzipping Files ӏ Creating a New Folder ӏ Copying a File or Folder ӏ Moving a File Folder ӏ Creating a Content Topic ӏ Deleting a File or Folder Accessing Manage Files 1. Click Edit Course on the navbar, then click Manage Files. 2. Click Manage Files in the Course Administration widget. Back to the Top

2 Uploading and Downloading Files 1. On the Manage Files page, navigate to the folder that you want to upload files to. 2. Click Upload. 3. Click Browse to locate the file you want to upload. 4. You can click Add Another File to upload multiple files. 5. Click Upload.

3 1. To download a file, on the Manage Files page, navigate to the folder you want to download files from. 2. Select the check boxes beside the files or folders you want to download. 3. Click the Download icon from the action bar. 4. From the pop-up window, click on the ZIP file that is created. 5. Use your browser s save dialog to save the file to your desired location. 4 Creating HTML and TXT files 1. On the Manage Files page, click on the folder where you want add a new file on the folder tree. 2. Click New File. 3. Enter a File Name and create your content with the HTML Editor. To create a TXT file, append.txt to your file name. 4. Click Create. Back to the Top

5 Zipping and Unzipping Files 1. On the Manage Files page, select the check boxes beside the files or folders you want to compress. 2. Click the Zip icon on the action bar. The files are compressed into the current folder. Back to the Top 1. To unzip a file, on the Manage Files page, go to the folder where you want to extract files. 2. Upload your ZIP file. 3. Click Unzip in the zipped file's context menu to extract the files into the current folder.

6 Creating a New Folder 1. On the Manage Files page, click on the folder where you want to add a new folder on the folder tree. 2. Click New Folder 3. Enter a new folder and click Save. Back to the top

7 Copying Files and Folders 1. On the Manage Files page, select the check box beside the folder or file you want to copy. You can copy multiple files and folders to the same location by selecting the check boxes beside those files and folders. 2. Click the Copy icon in the action bar. 3. Navigate to the folder where you want to place the copied content. 4. Click Paste.

8 Moving a File Folder 1. On the Manage Files page, select the check box beside the folder or file you want to move. You can move multiple files and folders to the same location by selecting the check boxes beside those files and folders. 2. Click the Cut icon in the action bar. 3. Navigate to the folder where you want to place the content you want to move. 4. Click Paste. Back to the top

9 Creating a Content Topic 1. On the Manage Files page, select the check boxes beside the files you want to designate as topics. 2. Click the Add Content Topics icon from the action bar. 3. On the Add Multiple Topics page, choose a Parent Module for the topics from the drop-down list. 4. Enter new the Topic Titles. 5. Click Add. Back to Top

1 0 Deleting a File or Folder 1. On the Manage Files page, select the check box beside the file or folder that you want to delete. You can delete multiple files or folders all at once by selecting the check boxes beside those files or folders. 2. Click the Delete icon on the action bar. Back to Top
