Introduction Mailbox Manager maintains an off-line database of the Modular Messaging subscriber, enhanced list, range, and class of service records. Using this windows interface, you make changes to these records and send them to the Message Storage Server (MSS) component of the Modular Messaging system via the network. Mailbox Manager for Modular Messaging can be installed for a single- or multiple-user environment. The single user license is included with your Avaya Modular Messaging system software when purchased with an MSS storage component. If you wish to implement a multiple user installation, a multi-user (also called client/server) package must be purchased. Contact your Avaya distributor for information about how to order. This document contains information about licensing Mailbox Manager, requirements for the single and multiple user installations, single user installation instructions, and a brief description of a multiple user installation. Information and procedures for using Mailbox Manager are available in the Mailbox Manager User Guide, available in PDF format on the Mailbox Manager CD. Licenses The installation software for Mailbox Manager is included with your Mailbox Manager CD. A single-user license is created during the installation process. The installation is simple, and full instructions are included in this document. If your organization also manages other Avaya legacy message servers that are supported by Mailbox Manager (Octel 250/350, Octel 200/300, or Intuity AUDIX ) you may already have Mailbox Manager licenses for those as well. You can combine the licenses for these systems into one license, and manage them from one interface if you upgrade those licenses to Mailbox Manager 5.0 or newer. Note: If you plan to use MBM to manage your Modular Messaging system along with an Octel 250/350, Octel 200/300, or Intuity AUDIX system, you cannot run Mailbox Manager from the Messaging Application Server (MAS) component of the Modular Messaging system. To get a combined license for all of your Avaya message servers: 1. Install Mailbox Manager for Modular Messaging, following the single-user instructions on page 3. 2. Locate your license file C:\MBMData\Config\Config.2nl 3. Send an email to license@unimax.com requesting the license. You will need to include a copy of your license file and identifying numbers for your legacy systems. Octel 200/300 with system software 2.0 or newer system software version system serial number and current Octel 250/350 with system software 2.0 or newer system serial number (also known as VPMOD serial number) and current system software version Intuity AUDIX with system software 4.4 or newer system serial number, current system software version, and model type (MAP 40 and MAP 100 were sold with bundled licenses, MAP 5, LX, and IA770 are supported by Mailbox Manager but did not include a license) Mailbox Manager Getting Started Guide 2/6/2007 1

Installation Single user installation The single user installation package is included on your Mailbox Manager CD. No other components are required for the installation. While Mailbox Manager (MBM) may have been installed on your MAS PC during the initial installation of your Modular Messaging system, you may prefer to have it installed on your own desktop or laptop PC, so that you can do moves adds and changes for your subscribers and classes of service without having to go to the MAS. This is preferred, providing your PC meets the software requirements (see page 2). If your company has a DHCP (dynamic host communication protocol) environment, and you cannot provide your workstation with a fixed IP address, you will have to install Mailbox Manager on the MAS and use remote control software to manage it from another workstation. There are separate instructions for installing Mailbox Manager on the MAS, beginning on page 4, Installing Mailbox Manager on the MAS. Overview Mailbox Manager (MBM) for Modular Messaging allows you to manage subscribers, enhanced lists (ELA) and classes of service from your desktop or laptop PC. An off-line database of your MSS data is maintained on your PC. Using MBM, you make changes to the data and send those changes to the MSS over the network (note that a laptop must be connected to the network in order to send changes to the MSS). Trusted Server If you are installing Mailbox Manager (MBM) in a different location from where it was initially installed, you must update the trusted server profile on the MSS to recognize the IP address of your new Mailbox Manager PC. The trusted server profile for MBM is called mbmserver. Consult Modular Messaging installation documentation for instructions. Installing Mailbox Manager for a single user Use the following procedure to install Mailbox Manager on your desktop or laptop PC. Instructions for installing Mailbox Manager on the MAS are on page 4. 1. Using the Mailbox Manager CD, access Setup.exe 2. Double-click Setup.exe to launch the installation program. 3. At the Welcome window, click Next. 4. At the Installation Type window, select Typical and click Next. 5. At the License agreement window, click Yes. 6. At the Ready to Install window, click Install. A progress bar will show the status of the installation and a message line will indicate what parts of the installation are in progress. 8. At the Installation Complete window, you can click checkboxes to view the readme file or launch Mailbox Manager. You may check these, if desired, then click Finish to close the installation program. Multiple user installation In order to install Mailbox Manager for multiple users, or a single-user site that manages multiple Avaya messaging systems, you will need a dedicated server PC to send changes to the message servers and hold the off-line database of your systems. The mbmserver trusted server account on your MSS must be modified to recognize this dedicated server. You will also need a client/server license for MBM and a copy of the Faircom Corporation s server software. Contact your Avaya sales representative for information on how to purchase this package. The package will include full installation instructions. Multiple user overview In a multiple-user installation, each user has a copy of MBM installed on their PC. A single database of your MSS data is maintained on the server PC that all users access via the LAN. Using MBM, users make changes to the data and the server PC sends those changes to the MSS in the order they were saved. The advantages of this type of installation are: More than one person can work on the system at the same time Each change is visible to all other users as it is made Supervisors are able to review work done during the day Mailbox Manager Getting Started Guide 2/6/2007 4
Connection Setup in Mailbox Manager Before you can begin using Mailbox Manager to manage your subscribers, you must set up a connection between MBM and your MSS. Setting the connection This procedure must be done from the PC that is responsible for sending changes to the MSS. If you are already looking at the Connection Setup window from the end of the Installation procedure, continue with step 1. If you want to set up a new connection and do not see the Connection Setup window, begin by rightclicking on your MSS system under Enterprise Systems in the Workspace navigation area and select Set Connection Then proceed with step 4. 1. When Mailbox Manager is first opened, you will see this Connection Setup wizard. Choose Yes to set the connection now. 2. In the Set System Connections dialog, choose which system you would like to set the connections for if you have more than one system. 3. Click Set Connection. Check Use Secure Connection if you have set up the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) option on the system. This also requires that you download and install the Avaya Root Certificate from the MSS. Complete instructions for this are on page 7, Installing the Modular Messaging Security Certificate. 11. Type the Bind DN as cn=mbmserver,dc=avaya 12. Type the password used in the mbmserver trusted server setup on your MSS. 13. The Offset DN field is not needed in this instance 14. Click Next. Mailbox Manager Getting Started Guide 2/6/2007 6
