Using Citrix to access QFIS and other applications Citrix offers a secure way to remotely access applications at Queen s, including P2P. To use Citrix, open your browser and go to https://offcampus.qub.ac.uk. You will be prompted to enter your username (i.e. staff/student number) and password: Once you log in, you will see a screen showing the various applications that are available: If you have never used Citrix before, then you will need to download and install the Citrix client for your particular operating system (Windows or Mac) you only need to do this the first time you use Citrix on your device. Citrix can be installed on a wide range of device types. Follow the instructions for download and installation. For Windows: 1. Select the link pertaining to your operating system 2. Click the blue button that says Download Citrix Workspace App for Windows 3. Select Run or click on the downloaded file to install it
4. Click Start to start the install process, accept the licence agreement and continue. This will complete the install after a few minutes. 5. Click Finish (Do not add an email address if prompted) See Appendix 1 of this document for installation and configuration instructions for ipads. See Appendix 2 for details for installation and configuration on Apple Mac OS X computers. Internet Explorer A security warning will appear asking you to allow the application to access your computer. Click Permit use and tick Do not ask me again for this site. Internet Explorer will also ask you (at the bottom of the screen) if you want to open or save the file launch.ica click Open : The application should now launch. Chrome Chrome will typically download the launch.ica file to the bottom left of your screen: Click the launch.ica button. You may then be prompted with the security warning above. The application should now launch.
Firefox Firefox will also ask you (at the bottom of the screen) if you want to open or save the file launch.ica click Open : The application should now launch. On Apple OS X devices Safari The first time you access the offcampus website, you will get the following prompt Click Trust. Click an icon to launch the application.
Appendix 1 Installing Citrix on ipads 1. Go to the App Store and type Citrix Receiver in the search box and click on the arrow to download it 2. Accept the terms and conditions, wait for the application to install, then click open 3. A Welcome screen will be displayed asking for an email address or Store URL, enter https://offcampus.qub.ac.uk/, do NOT click continue but click on the three dots at the top right of the screen and select manual setup
4. Enter a description e.g. Citrix Offcampus and select Web Interface from the list of connection types 5. Finally click Save (top right-hand corner). Citrix is now ready to use - just sign in with your username and password. 6. In future, you will only need to launch the app and select your account Citrix Offcampus
Appendix 2 - Installation and configuration on Apple Mac OS X computers. For MAC OS X: 1. After logging into Citrix at https://offcampus.qub.ac.uk, select the link to download the Mac Client 2. Click the blue button that says Download Citrix Workspace App for Mac 3. Click on the Downloads link on the task bar and select CitrixWorkspaceApp.dmg. The following window will be displayed. 4. Click on Install Citrix Workspace, and you will be presented with the screen below. 5. Click Continue three times, then Agree to the license and then click Install. You may be prompted for an Administrator username and password. 6. Enter the Administrator credentials and click Install. 7. If prompted for an email address, do NOT tick the box to Add Account, then click Continue. 8. The install will complete after a few seconds. Click Close
