Building Block Installation - Admins Overview To use your Blackboard Server with Panopto, you first need to install the Panopto Building Block on your Blackboard server. You then need to add Blackboard as an Identity Provider on your Panopto Server. If you have previously installed and configured the Panopto Blackboard Building Block, you just need to install the new block over the old one. If the existing block is removed, any custom menu links in courses referencing the block will be eliminated. Note: Hosted customers will require assistance from our Support Team in order to add Blackboard as an Identity Provider to their Hosted site. Prerequisites Admin access to Panopto Download the latest Blackboard Building Block for Panopto. How To Video: Blackboard Building Block Overview. 1. Blackboard Configuration 1.1. Login into your Blackboard server as an administrator. 1.2. Click on the System Admin tab. 1.3. Locate the Blackboard Building Blocks Management section and click on Building Blocks (See Figure 1). 1.4. Click Installed Tools (Fig. 2). Figure 2 1.5. Click Upload Building Blocks (Fig. 3). Figure 3 1.6. Browse for the location of your PanoptoBlackboardBuildingBlock.war file that you've downloaded from Panopto and click Submit (Fig.4). Figure 4 1.7. Click Submit (Fig. 5).
Figure 5 1.8. Now you must change the availability of the block to Available so it can be used. 1.9. Click the drop-down box in the Availability column and change it from Inactive to Available (Fig. 6). Figure 6 1.10. You will automatically be taken to the Privileges page for the block. Click Approve to make the block available (Fig. 7). Figure 7 1.11. If you want the Block to be available by default to all courses, change the Course/Org Default option to Available. 1.12. Both setting should now both be set to Available and will look like the following (Fig. 8). Figure 8 1.13. The last step for installing the Building Block is directing it to your Panopto Web Server. You can do this by clicking on the Settings button to the right of the Panopto Panopto Focus Connector instance (Fig. 9). Figure 9
1.14. The following page will open. First, enter the identical Instance Name from the Panopto External Provider config that was previously set. Note: This is case sensitive. 1.15. Check or uncheck your desired settings and then click OK (Fig.10).

Go to http://yourpanoptoserver/panopto/pages/default.aspx# and insert your username and password. Click Log In (If Active Directory is enabled, please choose the appropriate domain, from the "Log In Using" drop down box). 2.2. Insert admin username and password. Click Log In (If Active Directory is enabled, please choose the appropriate domain, from the "Log In Using" drop down box). 2.3. Go to System -> Providers -> Click Add Provider in the External Login Providers section (Fig. 11).

Bounce Page URL: This can be acquired by going to https://<yourblackboardserverurl>/webapps/ppto-panoptocoursetool-bblearn/config.jsp and locating the Bounce Page URL (Fig. 14). Figure 14 2.9. Federated Sign-out URL: (Optional) If you are using a third party provider to authenticate to Blackboard and wish to log users out of that provider on Panopto sign-out, past the providers Federated Sign-out URL here. 2.10. Parent folder name: All course folders will be created under the specified folder, instead of at root. 2.11. Bounce page blocks iframes: If enabled, Panopto embedded iframes will be forced to open in a new window. 2.12. Default Sign-in Option: If enabled, this provider will be the default option in the 'Sign-in using' dropdown list on your Panopto site home page. 2.13. Personal folders for users: See the following two support articles which explain what Personal folders are and how to use them: 2.13.a. Enabling Personal folders 2.13.b. Using "My Folder" 2.14. Click when you have entered this information. An Application Key will be automatically created, Save as shown below, and will be required in the configuration of the Blackboard Building Block in the next step. The Application Key is auto generated and protects your Panopto server against unauthorized access (Fig. 15).

Go back to https://<yourblackboardserverurl >/webapps/ppto-panoptocoursetool-bblearn/config.jsp. 3.2. Enter your Hostname (the FQDN of your Panopto server ex: panopto.university.edu) and Application key (the Application Key from the Panopto External Provider config above). 3.3. Click Add (Fig. 16).
