OpenLAB Installation Shared Checklist Services Server A.02.02 Customer Information Thank you for purchasing an Agilent software solution. This checklist is used by the installing engineer to ensure that the instrument and associated systems are correctly installed, upgraded and functioning as designed in your facility. This checklist will be completed at the end of the service and provided to you as a record of the installation. Customers should provide all necessary operating supplies upon request of the engineer. Service Engineer s Responsibilities Only complete/printout sections or pages that relate to the system that has been installed. Complete empty fields with the relevant information. Complete the relevant checkboxes in the checklist using a X or tick mark in the checkbox. Complete Not Applicable check boxes to indicate services not delivered, as needed Complete the Service Review section together with the customer. In case of diagnostic tests, record test results in section service review (test results). Product number Serial number General Preparation Unpack and verify the condition and completeness of shipment. For discrepancies, use the table below. Product or part description Observation Action Check that any customer-supplied hardware and software meet the requirements in the OpenLAB Shared Services Server Site Prep Document Before installing software, it is recommended to run the System Configuration Checker to check the customer s PC or Server with regard to minimum requirements. Configure the operating system as described in the CDS Networked and Distributed System Installation and Configuration guide, chapter 3 Configure the Operating System. If applicable, use the Network Assessment Tool to verify the network environment. Discuss any configuration options with the customer prior to starting. Discuss any specific questions or issues with the customer prior to starting. Check for Hotfix, Microsoft updates and patch compatibility appropriate for the customer's system. Check for required service note applicability. For systems not connected to the internet, follow the instructions in the Networked and Distributed System Installation and Configuration guide (CDS_NWSDS-Installation.pdf), section "Improve performance of Offline Machines" in Chapter "Optional Procedures". Explain that the Registration Packet and license number must be stored in a secure place. Show the customer the support directory location. Record the User Account Settings (Always Notify, Default, Notify when program... or Never Notify) Upgrades only Ensure with customer that instrument control settings, data, methods etc have been properly saved or archived prior to starting any installation procedures. OpenLAB Shared Services Server Installation Log into Windows as a user with Local Administrator privileges. Start the OpenLAB CDS Master Installer (disk 1) and follow the wizard to install an OpenLAB Shared Services Server: Read the license terms and agree to continue. Click Next. Select the Installation folder. Check the box to run the Software Verification after installation. Click Next. Under the Installation type screen, select Networked System. Click Next. Select Shared Services Server (w/o Data Store). Click Next. Complete the Database Type Selection screen by selecting the database type and the installation type. Configure the database as described in the steps for one of the following options. a) If you select New database server with PostgreSQL Type the path or browse to the directory where you want to store the application components. Directory names must be entered without spaces. Select Next to proceed with the OpenLAB Shared Services Database screen. Complete the Database name field (e.g. OLSharedServices). Select the authentication mode. If you use the database's server authentication, provide the required user credentials. Select Next to proceed to the Additional items screen. b) If you connect to an existing PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server database server: NOTE Connecting to existing Database requires a DBA and may require the involvement of the Informatics PSO. Type the database server name in the field provided. If the database resides on the same computer use localhost as Database server name. For Microsoft SQL Server: Select Use default instance or Use named instance. If you select Use named instance, complete the Database instance name field. Select Next to proceed with the OpenLAB Shared Services Database screen Select either Create new database or Connect to existing database. Provide the required database name (e.g. OLSharedServices) and user credentials. Click Test Connection... to run a connectivity check. The system will display a Connection succeeded message if the check is successful. Click OK to close the message. Select Next to proceed to the Additional items screen. Page 3 of 6

c) If you connect to an existing Oracle database server: Enter the Database Server name in the field provided. Click Next to proceed with the Server connection type. Select the Initialize data check box Enter the Database name, user credentials, and the Listener port number. By default, the Listener port number is 1521. Click Test Connection... to run a connectivity check. The system will display a Connection succeeded message if the check is successful. Click OK to close the message. Select Next to proceed to the Additional items screen. If you select ECM Server the Server name field will be enabled. Enter the server name without spaces. Click Test Connection... to run a connectivity check. The system will display a Connection succeeded message if the check is successful. Click OK to close the message. Under OpenLAB Shared Services Language, select the correct language from the drop-down list. Select Next to proceed to the Summary screen. Click Start to begin the installation. Verify that the software verification report passed to confirm proper installation. Close the Master Installer application and reboot the server. Set the User Account Settings to its initial setting if it has been disabled to perform the installation. If not already done, install the required Microsoft Hotfixes (if any) and reboot the server. Install available software updates for the current revision of OpenLAB CDS Shared Services. OpenLAB Shared Services Configuration (For Networked or Distributed Environments) Refer to the online help for directions on how to do the following tasks. Add License Guide the customer through the license creation process in Subscribenet. Create and add the license in OpenLAB Control Panel. Configure Security and Storage Launch the OpenLAB Control Panel and navigate to Administration Select System Configuration in the Navigation Window then click Edit System Configuration. Configure the Authentication Provider and Network Storage Location to desired settings. When complete, the Control Panel will restart. Log back into the Control Panel with OpenLAB System Administrator credentials. Page 4 of 6

Configure Users/Groups/Roles, if applicable Launch the OpenLAB Control Panel and navigate to Administration Select Users in the Navigation Window. Import/Create Users that will have access to the OpenLAB CDS Workstation. Select Groups in the Navigation Window. Import or Create Groups that will have access to the OpenLAB CDS Workstation. Select Roles in the Navigation Window. Create/edit Roles and assign Users or Groups to those Roles. Service Review Attach available reports and printouts to this documentation. Record the time and date of installation or upgrade completion in the customer s records or logbook. Complete the Service Engineer Comments section below if there are additional comments. Review the installation or upgrade with the customer. Explain Agilent's software warranty policy. Explain how to use manuals, guides, online help. Explain how to get self-help, FAQs from the web. Explain how to log a software service call, support services available. Advise customer of additional software training options. Explain the Software Status Bulletin (SSB), and how to access it on the web. Advise customer of licensing documentation (installation and upgrade ) on disk1 and license training that is available on disk 6 Service Engineer Comments (optional) If there are any specific points you wish to note as part of performing the installation or other items of interest for the customer, please write in this box.
