How to Register for Courses (Second Phase: Open Enrollment Registration)

Transcription:

The simplest way to search for and enroll in classes is to do so via the Enrollment Shopping Cart. 1. Starting from the Student Center Screen, click on the blue enrollment shopping cart in order to access your shopping cart and begin choosing your classes.

3 2 2. On the next screen, select the term for which you wish to register. 3. Click the green Continue button.

This is the Shopping Cart Screen. Tips: You can ignore the Enter Class Nbr option - - for now. To choose classes this way, you need a specific four-digit code that will be pointed out The best way to search for classes via this screen is to use the class search function: How to Search for Classes: 1. Select Class Search and then click the button.

Now you are on the Class search screen as accessed via the shopping cart. It may look a little different if you found your way here through the class search heading on the left hand menu. 1 3 2 4 In order to search for a specific class: 1. Use the first pull-down menu to select the course subject. 2. Enter the course number if you know it. If you don t, leave it blank. 3. In the third pull-down menu, select Undergraduate. 4. If you want to see all classes, including those that are closed (full), then deselect the show open classes only option. Normally you would want to search for open classes only.

5. Then click the button.

This is the Search Results Screen. 1 2 Before scrolling through your results, notice these two useful items: 1. My Class Schedule: Shows you the courses you ve already registered for in this term. 2. Shopping Cart: Shows you the courses currently in your shopping cart. You can refer to these rather than going back to your shopping cart or course schedule screens as you look for courses that fit your current schedule.

2 1 1. The table provides the following information: Class days and times Location Instructor a. Beginning and ending dates 2. The text of the blue hyperlink provides the following information: Section number (first two digits) Type of section (LEC = Lecture, DIS = Discussion Session, LAB = Lab) Unique course number (four digit code in parentheses) Clicking on the blue hyperlink 02-LEC(3667) will bring you to the Class Detail screen.

This screen offers you all available details for this particular section of the course. The first box contains Class Details. Most of the information is self-explanatory. Here are a few explanations of items that might not be easily understood: Status: o A green circle indicates that the class is open o A yellow triangle indicates that the class is full and has a waiting list o A blue square indicates that the class is full and is closed Class Number: Unique 4-digit code for this specific section useful on the shopping cart screen Units: Credit Hours Class Component: Some classes have accompanying discussion sessions or lab sessions, but most of the time, you will see Lecture as the main component of a course.

In the Meeting Information box, you will find: Day/time Location Instructor Beginning and ending dates of the course

In the Class Availability box, you can find information about: Class Capacity (the highest number of students the course can accommodate) Enrollment Total (the number of students who have registered for the course so far) Available Seats Wait List information

Some courses have a description box that offers you a brief explanation of the course. There might also be textbook information available as well.

Tip: If you would like to return to the search results, click the light blue View Search Results button. Do not use the back button in your browser. The system does not function well with the back button.

1. To put this class in your shopping cart, click the green select class button in order to place it in your shopping cart. You can also select the class from the search screen as well (see below).

2. Check the Wait list if class is full box. This will give you the option of being on a wait list for classes that might fill up before your registration date. 3. Click the Next button.

4. The course you have selected should appear in your shopping cart. It will remain here until you remove it or register for the course.
