Overview
What is UberCENTRAL? An overview UberCENTRAL is a platform that lets you request Uber rides for your customers. You can request multiple rides, all from one simple dashboard, to provide a seamless customer service experience. This guide will walk you through setting up an account and getting started on UberCENTRAL. If you haven t signed up yet, visit uber-central.com.
Setting up your account
Signing in
Uber sign-in page Signing in In your web browser, go to central.uber.com/admin You will be directed to sign in with the email address and password you used to sign up with UberCENTRAL.
central.uber.com/admin Signing in You ve successfully signed in. You ll first land on the Getting Started page that explains the steps you need to take to set up your company and start requesting rides. In the next section, we ll explain how to set up a payment method.
In case you run into errors Signing in If at any point you hit a 403 page, it might mean that you haven t set up a payment method and location yet. Try going to central.uber.com/admin If you still are experiencing issues, contact uc-support@uber.com with the details, including the email address of the account you are logging in with and your company name.
Payment method setup
Navigate to the Billing page Payment method setup From the Getting Started page, you ll see two ways to get to the Billing page: 1. The first card in the main section 2. The left-hand navigation 2 Select one of these two proceed to the next step. 1
Adding a new credit card Payment method setup From here, you ll need to add a credit card as your payment method for ride billing. Click the New Credit Card button to continue.
New credit card form Payment method setup Fill out the form with your credit card information. Please note that all rides taken on this company account will be charged to this credit card.
Credit card added Payment method setup Once you ve added a credit card, you ll see it appear on the page. This credit card will be the default payment method to pay for your trips. You ll see a notification on the top right that says you re ready to add your first location. We ll explain how to do this in the next section.
Location setup
Navigate to the Locations page Location setup Go to the Locations page from the left-hand navigation. With each location you set up, you ll be able to invite employee operators to request rides at those locations and separate ride expenses the way you want. Click the New Location button to add your first location.
Adding a new location Location setup The form will ask you for 4 pieces of information 1. Location name - a display name for the location 2. Location address - the physical address of the location 3. Phone number - phone number of the location a. Note that this phone number can t be associated with an existing Uber account. We suggest using a landline for each location. 4. Email - email where receipts will be sent a. Note that this email can t be associated with an existing Uber account. We suggest your accounting team s email address.
Location added Location setup Congrats! Your first location has been added. You ll notice that the Request Rides button in the left-hand navigation is now active. At this point, you can start requesting rides at this location. If you d like to have employees requesting rides from this location, continue to the next section to learn how to add operators.
Operator setup
Inviting operators Operator setup Operators are employees within your company that you are giving access to request rides. They will only be allowed to request rides at locations you ve assigned them to. Looking at your locations list, you ll notice two icons on the right hand side: 1. An avatar with your initials 2. Icon to add operators to this location Click the icon to continue. 2
Operators modal Operator setup After clicking the add operators icon, a window will appear with two parts. Let s start with the first part up top. Here, you can invite operators to join you on Uber Central by email Note that the operators you invite must already have Uber accounts. Ask your operators to provide you with the email tied to their Uber account. Once the email is entered, click the Invite button.
Operators listed Operator setup Once you ve invited the operator, you ll notice that they ll be added to the list below -- This is a list of ALL operators that you ve invited to use Uber Central. Notice the checkmark to the right, this is an indication that they will be added to the location after you click the Assign button. When you ve invited and selected the operators you want to add to this location, click the Assign button.
Operators assigned to location Operator setup Congrats! Your operators have been added to that location. You ll see a list of avatars on the right that indicates they ve been added. You should email your operators to let them know they can now go to central.uber.com and sign in to start requesting rides at their assigned locations. In the next next section, we ll go over how to request your first ride.
Using UberCENTRAL
Requesting your first ride
Select your location Requesting your first ride Upon clicking the Request Rides button on the admin page or going to central.uber.com after you ve set up a location, you ll land on the Uber Central dashboard and see a list of locations you can select from. The trip information for the rides that you request will be stored under the location you select. Note that your operators will only be able to see the locations they ve been assigned to.
New Ride button Requesting your first ride Once you ve selected a location, you ll be directed to the Active page of that location. Here, you ll see any active trips happening now or a message that prompts you to create a new ride. Click the New Ride button on the top right corner to create your first ride.
New Ride form Requesting your first ride When creating a new ride, you ll be presented with a form that asks for rider and trip details. 1. Rider info a. Full name b. Phone number - the driver will contact the rider at this phone number (it will be anonymized). Additionally, we ll send updates of the ride via SMS, including a link to follow the ride on a map. 2. Trip details a. Pickup address b. Dropoff address
Vehicle list Requesting your first ride Once you ve entered the pickup address, you ll see the form populate with a list of vehicles available in that area with associated pickup times. The most economic vehicle option will be the default (uberx in the example). If you ve also entered in a destination address, you ll be shown a fare estimate.
Optional fields Requesting your first ride Moving farther down the list, you ll have the option to include: 1. Notes for the driver - special pickup instructions that will be displayed in the driver s app a. Example: Please use the side entrance. 2. Expensing info - memos that will help with reconciliation later. This won t be shared outside of your company. 3. A way for riders to accept Uber terms of service When you re ready to request, click the Request button
Requesting... Requesting your first ride After the Request button is clicked, you ll see that we re trying to match your rider with a driver.
Pickup (x) min Requesting your first ride Congrats! We ve matched your rider with a driver. You can choose to communicate the driver information to your rider personally, or they can view the SMS we ve sent them with the driver details.
Pickup now Requesting your first ride Periodically, you ll see the status of the ride change. Pickup Now means that the driver has arrived at the pickup address and is waiting for the rider. Note that drivers will only wait a few minutes. Make sure to notify your rider to be outside at the pickup time.
Dropoff (x) min Requesting your first ride Dropoff (x) min means that the driver and your rider is on the way to the destination.
Dropoff now Requesting your first ride Dropoff Now means that the driver has arrived at the destination and is waiting for the rider to hop out. Knowing when your rider is arriving might be an opportunity for your operators to delight and greet them personally or call to see how the trip went.
Saving rides for later
Optional fields Requesting your first ride In the New Ride form, there s an option to Save for Later if your rider isn t ready, but you wanted to have the request ready to go at a later time.
Save for later Saving rides for later Tapping the Save for Later button opens a window that summarizes the details of the trip and asks you when you d like to be reminded to request. Click the Save button to Save for Later.
Upcoming rides page Saving rides for later Your saved trip will appear on the Upcoming rides page and stay there until you have requested or deleted it. At the set reminder time, you ll get a notification in the Uber Central dashboard to request your ride.
Viewing past rides
Past trips page Viewing past rides Once your rider has been dropped off, you can find the trip and its associated completion time in the Past trips page.
