Stripe Account Setup This section will provide the steps on getting the Stripe account setup so that it can be connected to your website. What is Stripe? Stripe allows you to accept credit/debit card payments from your clients on a secure payment portal that can be connected to your website. Pricing Stripe charges a small fee each time you accept a payment. As of November 2016, their fee is 2.9% + $0.30 for each transaction (subject to change). Learn more about their pricing here - https://stripe.com/us/pricing If you want to accept payments through a portal that is connected to your website, Rootworks will charge your firm $10/month to cover development and maintenance of your firm s Stripe payment portal. The above is a live payment page, so please do NOT enter any payment information. Additional Details: Your payment portal will look the same as the example above. It cannot be customized in anyway, except to have your own company name where RootAdvisor s name is currently shown. You can purchase the Stripe payment portal for your website ($10/month) in the store on Rootworks Grow - https://grow.rootworks.com/store For us to be able to complete the setup on your website, follow the instructions in the next section to register for a Stripe account. Stripe Account Setup and Activation This section will cover the Stripe Account registration and setup process. In addition, the steps for sending the required codes to the Rootworks team for website deployment will be covered. Stripe Account Setup 1. Create and register a Stripe account here - https://dashboard.stripe.com/register. 2. After creating your account and signing in, you will be taken to the Stripe Dashboard (see below). 3. Activate the Live mode by clicking on the Live mode toggle at the top of the screen. 4. A box will pop up that says, Account not activated. 5. Click Activate account to continue. 6. The Account application page will open. V161122 Copyright 2016 Rootworks 5
7. Complete each section with the appropriate information. 8. Once the fields are complete, you can click the Activate account button at the bottom of the page. V161122 Copyright 2016 Rootworks 6
9. After activating your account, there are a few more details to get in place. In the upper-right corner, click the dropdown menu next to your username, and then select Account settings. V161122 Copyright 2016 Rootworks 7
10. In the box that pops up, the first tab you see is the General tab. Confirm your email address and password, and also set the correct time zone in the Account Info section. 11. In this same tab, click on the Public Info subsection, where you can set what your clients will see on their receipt, and you can customize the look of your receipt by changing its color and adding a square icon (your logo or part of your logo). 12. Click the Send test email button to send yourself an example receipt, so you can see what your clients will see. V161122 Copyright 2016 Rootworks 8
13. The next tab is the Team tab, you can invite other people at your firm (admin people or other partners) to have access to the firm s Stripe account. V161122 Copyright 2016 Rootworks 9
14. Next, skip over to the Emails tab. Here you can decide which emails you want to receive from Stripe regarding payment transactions, and which emails your clients will receive when they make a payment. In the Email customers for: section, we suggest checking both boxes, so that your customers will be notified when they have made a successful payment or if they have been issued a refund. Information Provided to the Rootworks Team 1. Important! Make sure to purchase the Stripe payment portal for your website ($10/month) in the store on Rootworks Grow - https://grow.rootworks.com/store 2. Next, please provide the following information to the Rootworks team via Rootworks GROW: a. Go to the API Keys tab: i. Below are the four code numbers needed in order to setup your firm s payment portal. 3. Login to Rootworks GROW (a partner must do this) 4. Click on My Company > Website. 5. Scroll down to the Stripe Tokens section located directly above the Technical Information section. 6. Click the + symbol to expand this section. 7. Paste the four code numbers from Stripe (API Keys) into their appropriate sections. 8. Click Save. 9. The web development team will be notified automatically once the codes have been saved. Refreshing Account after Potential Fraudulent Activity If at any time you suspect that your account has been compromised, or a fraudulent transaction has occurred, the four API Keys in your Stripe account can be refreshed. Please note Refreshing the keys will break the payment portal, and you will not be able to accept payments. Email support@rootworks.com once the API Keys have been refreshed and provide the new API keys. This will allow the payment portal to start working again. V161122 Copyright 2016 Rootworks 12
