1 Quick Start Guide to the Vevo 770 PN This Quick Start Guide provides a quick overview of the Vevo 770 and provides tips to allow users to start using the instrument and its various modes. A detailed step-by-step description of the system is available in the Vevo 770 Operator Manual. Warning: This equipment should not be connected or operated before the safety information in the Operator Manual has been read. Warning: This equipment is not intended for use on any living human being. Start-up Procedure Connect the RMV Start the Vevo 770 Attach the RMV scanhead that will be used during the imaging session to one of the connectors on the front of the Vevo 770. Note: Only the 700-Series RMV scanheads are to be used with the Vevo 770. Earlier versions of the RMV scanheads are not compatible with the Vevo Turn on the Vevo system using the breaker switch at the back of the system and then the computer standby switch on the left side of the system. 2. Turn on the monitor. 3. Wait for the Windows XP operating system to start up. The system is configured by VisualSonics to automatically log in.
2 4. The Vevo 770 software should automatically launch. If not, double-click on the Vevo desktop icon or select Start > All Programs > VSI > Vevo 770 > Vevo 770 V2.0.0 Start the Vevo Software 1. Select the Measurement package to be used. 2. Select the appropriate RMV scanhead to be used. To view the properties of the selected scanhead, click View Properties to expand the Scanhead Selection dialog. To initialize the selected scanhead, click Initialize. Initialization sets up the appropriate software parameters for the selected RMV scanhead. Click Cancel or press <Esc> to exit the software startup process. 3. Once a scanhead is initialized, the Study Browser is displayed. The Study Browser is used for data acquisition and for the review and analysis of study data. 4. Click New or press <New> and fill out at least the two mandatory study information fields Operator Name and Study Name. 5. Click OK to continue with the study. The Vevo 770 will automatically start acquiring data in B-Mode. B-Mode 1. Select Setup > B-Mode Setup, or press <Mode Setup> to change acquisition parameters. 2. Press <Scan/Freeze> to start and stop data acquisition. The acquired data may be reviewed using the cine loop controls at the bottom of the screen. Optional Acquisition Modes The following imaging modes are available as options to the Vevo 770. 3 M-Mode 1. In B-Mode acquisition, identify the target region for M-Mode acquisition. 2. Select Overlay > M-Mode Sample Volume Wire-frame or press <Overlay> until the M-Mode sample volume is displayed. 3. Position and size the sample volume to include the target region for M- Mode acquisition on the B-Mode image. 4. Switch to M-Mode from B-Mode by selecting Mode > M-Mode or by pressing <M-Mode>. 5. Start and stop data acquisition using <Scan/Freeze>. To toggle between the live B-Mode scout and M-Mode data acquisition, press <Toggle Scout>. New M-Mode image lines enter the image area from the right side and scroll across the window to the left in real-time. 6. Select Mode > Freeze or select <Scan/Freeze> to stop data acquisition. 7. Use the playback controls below the image area to scroll through the 8. Adjust the imaging parameters by selecting Setup > M-Mode Setup or by pressing <Mode Setup>. 9. Toggle the Scout image to verify the sample volume location throughout AM-Mode (Anatomical M-Mode) 1. In B-Mode acquisition, identify the target region for AM-Mode acquisition. 2. Select Overlay > M-Mode Sample Volume Wire-frame or press <Overlay> until the M-Mode sample volume is displayed. 3. Right click the image area to switch to the AM-Mode sample volume from the M-Mode sample volume. The letter A should be visible in the top-left corner of the B-Mode image. 4. Position and size the sample volume to include the target region for AM- Mode acquisition on the B-Mode image. 5. Switch to AM-Mode from B-Mode by selecting Mode > M-Mode or by pressing <M-Mode>. 6. Start and stop data acquisition using <Scan/Freeze>. To toggle between the live B-Mode scout and AM-Mode data acquisition, press <Toggle Scout>. New AM-Mode image lines enter the image area from the right side and scroll across the window to the left in real-time. 7. Select Mode > Freeze or select <Scan/Freeze> to stop data acquisition. 8. 4 PW Doppler Mode 1. In B-Mode acquisition, identify the target region for PW Doppler acquisition. 2. Select Overlay > Doppler Sample Volume Wire-frame or press <Overlay> until the PW Doppler Mode sample volume is displayed. 3. Position and size the sample volume to include the target region for PW Doppler signal acquisition on the B-Mode image. 4. Position the PW Doppler angle by turning the Angle dial. 5. Switch to PW Doppler Mode from B-Mode by selecting Mode > Doppler Mode or by pressing <PW>. 6. Start and stop data acquisition using <Scan/Freeze>. To toggle between the live B-Mode scout and Doppler data acquisition, press <Toggle Scout>. New Doppler lines enter the image area from the right side and scroll across the window to the left in real-time. The audio representation of the acquired Doppler data is heard through the system speakers. 7. Use the playback controls below the image area to scroll through the 8. Select Overlay > Tissue Doppler Sample Volume Wire-frame or press <Overlay> until the Tissue Doppler Mode sample volume is displayed. 3. Position and size the sample volume to include the target region for Tissue Doppler signal acquisition on the B-Mode image. 4. Position the Tissue Doppler angle by turning the Angle dial. 5. Switch to Tissue Doppler Mode from B-Mode by selecting Mode > Tissue Doppler Mode or by pressing <Tissue> on the keyboard. 6. Start and stop data acquisition using <Scan/Freeze>. To toggle between the live B-Mode scout and Tissue Doppler data acquisition, press <Toggle Scout>. New Tissue Doppler lines enter the image area from the right side and scroll across the window to the left in real-time. The audio representation of the acquired Doppler data is heard through the system speakers. 7. Use the playback controls below the image area to scroll through the 8. 5 EKV Reconstruction 1. Check the ECG monitor to ensure that the system is producing a consistent, strong ECG signal. 2. Connect the RMV scanhead to the Vevo Integrated Rail System III arm mount. 3. Acquire a B-Mode image. 4. Select Setup > B-Mode Setup, or press <Mode Setup> to change acquisition parameters. 5. Click Start EKV or press <EKV >. The progress bar beneath the image area tracks the EKV acquisition. When acquisition ends, the EKV loop has been acquired. 6. To save the acquired EKV data, press <Cine Store>. 3D-Mode 1. Connect the 3D motor stage to the Vevo Integrated Rail System III. 2. Connect the RMV clamp to the 3D motor stage. 3. Connect the RMV scanhead to the RMV clamp. 4. Select Setup > 3D-Mode Setup or press <Mode Setup> to change the acquisition parameters. 5. Click Init. 3D to initialize the 3D motor stage. 6. Click Start 3D. The 3D motor stage begins stepping along the acquisition route. 7. To save the acquired 3D data, press <Cine Store>. Power Doppler Mode 1. In B-Mode acquisition, identify the target region for Power Doppler acquisition. 2. Select Overlay > Power Box Wire-frame or press <Overlay> until the Power Doppler Mode sample volume is displayed. 3. Position and size the sample volume to include the target region for Power Doppler signal acquisition on the B-Mode image. 4. Switch to Power Doppler Mode from B-Mode by selecting Mode > Power Doppler Mode, or by pressing <Power>. 5. Start and stop data acquisition using <Scan/Freeze>. Note: Power Doppler Mode is also supported in 3D-Mode. To acquire Power- 3D-Mode data, from the Power Doppler Mode image click Start 3D. 6 Data Management During Acquisition Storing Desired Data Analyzing Data Reviewing Data Saving a Study To store a data loop select Study > Cine Store, or press Cine Store To store an image select Study > Frame Store, or press Frame Store To add measurements select Tools > Measurements, or press Measure To add annotations right-click the image, or press Annotate. To review the study data select Study > Browse Study, or press Browse Export the study's images and loops from the Study menu option or from the Image Browser. Select Study > Close Study, or press Close to close the study and click Commit Session Data to save the data. To copy the study to an accessible drive, click Copy To. Shutting Down the Vevo At the end of the session click Close Study, or press Close. 2. Save the study data if desired by clicking Commit Session Data. 3. Press the computer standby switch on the left side of the system to invoke the Windows shut-down process. 4. Click Turn Off from the presented options. Need help?
