1 2.0 LEVEL 1A DATA 2.1 Introduction OCTS Level 1A products are classified into three products following with data acquisition and processing method; GAC(Global Area Coverage), LAC (Local Area Coverage), and RTC (Real Time Coverage). Each Level 1A product is divided into two subproducts. One stores visible and near infrared observation data (OCTS band 1 to 8) and the other stores thermal infrared data (OCTS band 9 to 12). Each GAC product contains one scene data that observed with the same tilt angle continuously within sun shining period: tilt segment. GAC data are subsampled from full-resolution data with about every sixth pixel of a scan line and every fifth line recorded. LAC data consists of whole tilt segment data or about half size of tilt segment data, but not subsampled. RTC data have a coverage at EOC, but if tilt angle is changed, the data is divided into two scenes (products). Note that the data types in throughout this document are expressed with followings: Ch: character line Short: 2 byte integer (signed) Ushort: 2 byte integer (unsigned) Long: 4 byte integer (signed) Ulong: 4 byte integer (unsigned) Real: 4 byte real number Double: 8 byte real number Byte: 1 byte integer Binary data is Big Endian, IEEE format. Signed data is described in twos complement. 2.2 Naming Convention GAC LAC RTC Solar calibration Lamp calibration Electronic calibration L1AVNG (Visible and Near Infrared), L1ATIG (Thermal Infrared) L1AVNL (Visible and Near Infrared), L1ATIL (Thermal Infrared) L1AVNR (Visible and Near Infrared), L1ATIR (Thermal Infrared) L1AVNS (Visible and Near Infrared) L1AVNO (Visible and Near Infrared) L1AVNE (Visible and Near Infrared), L1ATIE (Thermal Infrared)

10 2.4 V Groups Of the following eight V groups, four V groups, Scan-Line Attributes, Raw ADEOS Data, Converted Telemetry, and Navigation, contain data that are functions of scan lines. That is, each data object within these V groups have data for each scan line and is therefore dimensioned by the value of the global attribute, Number of Scan Lines. Thus, to get all the data corresponding to a specific scan line, n, the n th values of all data objects in these four V groups would need to be read.
