9 Surface Area Surface Area is the area of all surfaces that make up a three dimensional figure. The 3-D figure below is a rectangular prism. To find its surface area we can unfold it and look at the net. The net contains 6 rectangles. We can find the area of all 6 rectangles and add them together to get the surface area of the prism.
