1 Create Department Tools The function reads the "Function" parameter on walls(exterior or Interior) for each designated Parameter on Rooms, and creates Regions, Views,Areas and Area Boundaries accordingly. Zone Tool has four functions: Create Zone Areas, creates Area Boundary Lines and an Area for each selected parameter on rooms. Create Zone Regions, creates Zone regions for each room grouped by a parameter. Create Room Regions, creates Room regions for each room grouped by a parameter. Create Zone Views, Creates a Dependent View for each Zone Parameter on rooms. The tools are improved and are able to: Use any Room parameter for grouping the rooms Calculate either Gross or Usable Area (BTA / BRA) Write the total area for each zone (grouped Rooms) back to each Room Create multiple Areas with same name if Room within the group aren t adjacent to each other. Total area of all Areas are written back to the Rooms. Further tool specific instructions are explained below. Create Zone Areas creates Area Boundary Lines and an Area for each selected Parameter on rooms. Area helps to Create Zone Areas based on a predefined Room Property parameter and Wall Type Property Function (Exterior/Interior). This is a combination of Area Boundary Lines and Areas. There is an option to create the Areas or just Area Boundary Lines. Use the correct Wall Function (Exterior/Interior) and same value for Room Property parameter for rooms that form one Area. Manually adjustments of Area Boundary Lines can retain while running the function more than one time on the same view. Before creating the Zone Areas, the following steps need to be taken: 1. Create an Area Plan This can be any kind of custom made Area Plan, in the AreaCriterias dialog from the Area Tool all Area Plans will be available from the drop down menu View Name. 2.Select the Area Type and Levels

2 3. On the question for automatically creation of boundary lines choose No. Before you create the Zone Areas assign the appropriate parameter value to each Room and run the function. The dialog consists of three drop-down options: The first drop-down defines the type of Area /Region to be created. It supports either the creation of BTA(Gross) or BRA(Net) Zone Area types. The second drop-down configures the grouping parameters used for the creation of the Zone Areas. The third drop-down defines to which Room parameter the total area of the Zone Areas is going to be written to.

3 The Areas that are created compile the name from the Area Number and the area of the Zone areas is shown on the Area tag and the selected Room Area parameter. These functions calculate the Gross/Net Area of defined parameters. Create Zone Regions creates Filled Regions(net/gross) for each room grouped by Zone parameter. The dialog consists of three drop-down options: The first drop-down defines the type of Area /Region to be created. It supports either the creation of BTA(Gross) or BRA(Net) Zone region types. The second drop-down configures the grouping parameters used for the creation of the Zone regions. The third drop-down defines to which parameter the total area of the Zone regions is going to be written to. After setting the desired configurations, press "Create" and the zones/filled regions will be created in the active plan view and the values are written to the rooms on the parameters selected in the dialog. The Zone Regions created by the tool get a specific type for each zone with a pre-defined color, and the name of the Zone Region is compiled out of the value of the group parameter and the type of Area that's being created.

4 When running the function a second time (for Update purposes) the function will tell you that there are existing Zone Regions found in the View and ask you to create new ones based on the new values of the Room parameters. Create Room Regions creates Filled Regions(net/gross) for each room grouped by Zone parameter This tool works in a similar way as the Create Zone Regions tool but instead of creating one region per Zone you get one region per room. Create Room Region feature can also write the total Area for the "zone" to each room on a separate parameter. I can specify what parameter on the Room I want the total area to be written to - in addition to selecting a parameter for the area of the Region. Two controls for selecting these parameters in there UI. One drop-down for selecting partial values and one for selecting total values.

5 The dialog consists of four configuration options: The first defines the type of Area/Region to be created. It supports either the creation of BTA(Gross) or BRA (Net) Room region types. The second drop-down configures the grouping parameters used for the creation of the Room regions. The third option is used for selecting the parameter to which the area of the individual zone of the Room region is written. The fourth option defines to which parameter the total area of the Room regions is going to be written to. The name of the Room Region is compiled out of the value of the group parameter and the type of Area that's being created. This tool also allows you to modify a region and have the new area written back to the room next time you run the tool. Just make sure to pin the regions you have modified and they will not be updated by the tool. Create Zone Views tool will create a Dependent View for each Zone Parameter on Rooms. The views are created underneath the active view and edits the shape of the Crop Region to match the shape of a Room or group of Rooms sharing the same value on the selected parameter. If the tool is started from a view containing Areas you are asked if you want to create Views from the existing Areas instead of the Rooms. The same workflow applies as for the Zone/Room Region functions explained above. Specifying Offset

6 We now support specifying an Offset for Crop Region when creating views so t what the user wants to display. In latest version, Update 1, we added a fixed offset, now that can be customized.the user can specify the Offset in the UI and all created views will have crop regions offsetted by this distance. The units for the offset in the UI is following Revit length units (1 is equal to 1 mm using normal Units for Europe) The name of the Zone Views is compiled out of the Type of the group parameter and of its value. (Left picture) When running the function again, the already existing dependent views won't be updated or deleted, instead, new views will be created underneath the same active Plan View with a prefix "..(X)" (Right picture)

8 The rules that are used when creating Area boundary lines. There are two properties that effects the result of the application Selected parameter which is a property of rooms. "Function" which is a type property of walls. Rooms are the object that the function primarily is looking at. For each room the application looks at the room bounding walls and applies the rules. No Area Boundary lines are drawn where there are no rooms on either side of the wall. Exterior Walls (type property "Function" set to "Exterior") are room bounding. Boundary lines are always drawn at near face of the wall. Room property parameters have no effect if the wall is exterior. Other Walls (type property "Function" set to anything but "Exterior") or Room Separation Lines are room bounding. No boundary lines are drawn when there are rooms on both side of the wall and both rooms have the same department assigned. Boundary lines are drawn at near face if there is room on the other side of the wall with another department assigned. Boundary lines are drawn at center of the wall if there is no room on the other side of the wall. The rules that are used when updating Area Boundary Lines. The application uses the pin-function but in an opposite meaning. (The method is somewhat similar to the way pin is used when editing curtain walls/roofs/systems.) When the application creates an area boundary line it automatically "pins" the object. A user who wants to move a pinned object must "unpin" it. When a user creates an object it is not pinned. This is the logic behind the rules that the application follows. Pinned Area boundary lines are assumed that they are made by the application. Unpinned Area boundary lines are assumed that they are manually created or updated by the user. When updating all pinned Area Boundary lines are first deleted and then again new are created according to the rules. Select if the unpinned (manually created or manually edited) should be kept or deleted. The rules that are used when creating Areas The application looks at the defined parameter and creates one Area for each unique value assigned to the parameter. The Area is placed aligned with the first Room found with a certain parameter value. The parameter value from the Room will be the number of the Area.
