2 [1] Character menu bar (corresponds to page 1-29) Display (V) menu [Display preference (E)] [Other] menu Display short titles By clicking on this item, the screen editor will only show the file name and window name. Makes the titles easy to read when using a notebook PC. [1] Edit model name selection (added ZM-52HD/ZM-62E) (corresponds to page 2-3) Added ZM-52HD/ZM-62E to the ZM-80 series. Models ZM80 series ZM70 series ZM-82 ( inch) ZM-72S ( inch) ZM-72 ( inch) ZM-52 ( inch) ZM-42 ( inch) ZM-43 ( inch) ZM-52HD ( inch) ZM-62E ( inch) Just added. ZM-52HD The ZM-52HD is a hand-held type with an LC display which is easy to carry. For details, see the ZM-52HD User s Manual. ZM-62E The ZM-62E is a conversion model of the ZM-61E. For details, see the ZM-62E User s Manual. [2] Detailed settings : Communication start time (corresponds to page 2-6) When power is supplied to the ZM80 when the PLC (or controller) is connected, in order to prevent a delay in PLC (or controller) processing, communication with the ZM80 can be delayed in units of seconds. Setting Access the setting item as follows. [System setting (A)] - [Communcation parameter setting (T)] - [Communication parameter/ detailed settings]- [Start time] 1

3 Chapter 4 : Overlap [1] Video input (optional) ZM80 function Video control (corresponds to page 4-16/14-21) 640x240 has been added to allow the user to select the video screen size. If you select the assignment using the macro command [Video Size], the setting will be as follows. (Video MEMORY) F0 F0 Value F0+0 F Name SIZE (size selection)

4 Chapter 7 : Data display [1] Setting the outline of the data display Precautions when placing a data display over a switch or lamp (corresponds to page 7-5) When placing a data display over a switch or lamp, we recommend creating a display with the following conditions. - Use a switch or lamp created with the [Drawing mode: REP] attribute. - Use a Translucent prohibited attribute for the data display. When you select [Translucent] for the [Character attribute] using a [Translucent prohibited] data display, and if you place the data display on top of a switch or lamp, it may not be displayed normally. More than one data display can be placed over a switch or lamp. Placing a data display over more than one switch or lamp may cause the display to look abnormal, when specific attributes are assigned. We recommend not using the data display this way. [2] Numeric display (corresponds to page 7-10) [Format] menu Input type Select the code type when reading the contents of a PLC. BCD BIN Real number (floating point decimal): IEEE32Bit single precision, real number format Range : 9.9E E 32 The last digit is rounded. * Real numbers (floating point decimals) are handled with [IEEE32Bit single precision, real number format]. PLCs which use other formats cannot use real numbers, since they will not display properly. Check the user s manual for each PLC. 3

5 Chapter 10 : Graph display [1] Bar graph [Alarm setting 2 ] menu (corresponds to page 10-8) This menu is displayed when [Alarm] is specified on the [Alarm setting] menu. Set this menu item when you want to use more than 3 colors for the alarm display. The setting details are the same as on the [Alarm setting] menu and the [Alarm color] menu. * However, when [Format: Deflection] is selected, only three colors are available for the alarm display, the same as in the previous version. 4

Note that no confirmation message appears, and even if the file being transferred is older than the file in the unit, it will be overwritten anyway. [Yes (Y)] [No (N)] When transferring each file, and if file in the unit is the same version or newer, the display will ask you whether you want to perform the transfer or not. To transfer the file, click the [Yes] button. To skip that file, click the [No] button. 7

9 Language change(zm80 function) New function Outline Using this function, the display language can be selected on the same screen. First, create a screen using English (1st language). Next, store a Japanese version (2nd language) of the English character strings. The screen can be switched between the English and Japanese versions using this Macro. How to set Add the [Multi Language Setting] dialog to the [Language selection (A)] in [System settings (A)]. No. of languages (1 to 8) Specify the number of languages available on the same screen. For details about the relationship between the display language and the other languages available, see below. To select a display language for the ZM unit, specify the language in [Font] in the [Other settings/p2] item. Only one font can be selected. The font selected here is downloaded to the ZM unit, and the ZM will display character strings using this font. To check which font is loaded, see [FONT] on the local main screen. When you select either of the Japanese, Japanese 32, or Gothic font, the ZM can only change the language between Japanese and English. Screen editor program that uses this function: ZM-71SE (English screen editor program for Windows98/95/NT4.0) Ver The relationship between the display language, other available languages, and the screen editor program is shown on the next page. 8

When importing data, the screen editor program will automatically remove the [ ] around the character strings. When this box is not checked, character strings shown below may not be imported correctly by other CSV format handling programs such as Excel. [Language display] settings and areas where the displayed language can be changed. Screens, graphic library, multi-overlap, data blocks, messages, forms, and screen library. Importing and exporting character strings To change the language display, first use the [export] function to output the screen data you created in the first language to a CSV format file (a text file separated by commas). Then, enter the corresponding character strings in the 2nd language using Excel or a similar program. Finally, save the new language as a CSV file, import this CSV file into the unit, and the display will now be available in two languages. Export (ZM80 CSV file) Screen data is converted to CSV files using the format shown below for each item. Simulator The comments displayed on switches and lamps can be displayed as character strings. How ever, they are only displayed in the 1st language. 11

13 Editing CSV files Open a CSV file using Excel and enter the character string in the 2nd language which corresponds to character string in the 1st language in the next cell [on the right. When [ [] Yes] is checked on the [Language selection] dialog, the character strings will be surrounded by square brackets, [ and ]. Make the length of the character string in the 2nd language the same as the length of the character string in the 1st language. A large difference in character string length may cause overlapping character strings or an incorrect screen layout. * Do not edit the parts displayed in gray above. Editing these parts may cause a failure to import the data. After editing, save the Excel work sheet as a CSV format file (entries separated by commas) (*.csv). When saving the page, Excel will display the message *.csv may contain functions that are not compatible with the CSV format (entries separated by commas). Do you want to save this sheet in this format? Click the [Yes] button to save it. Import (CSV file -> ZM80) To import a file, search for the 1st language and link the corresponding character strings in the 2nd language. Imported character strings are stored in the ZM80 screen. Change the displayed language and make sure the screen display is correct. Ex.: 12

14 Language change operation The default display when the unit is started will be in the language specified as the [initial display language] in the [Language selection] dialog. To change the screen, change the language displayed using the SYS command [CHG_LANG] macro. The language will change when the screen contents change. CHG_LANG F1: Change to the language in specified as the argument number. F1 range: 0 to 7 F0 F1 Internal Command name PLC Constant Memory card Indirect assignment W words CHG_LANG : Change language SYS (CHG_LANG) F1 Note :Pay special attention to the fact that although the numbers used in the language selection and language display items in the display preferences are 1 to 8, the only legal arguments for the CHG_LANG macro are 0 to 7. Ex.: Specify the display language using the ON macro for a screen change switch. Press the Japanese switch to change to the next screen which will be displayed in Japanese. Press the English switch to change to next screen which will be displayed in English. Errors on the ZM80 New error numbers may appear on the ZM80 relating to a language change. Note: There are error numbers which relate to the Language selection. However, these will not occur with normal operation.
