2 The Allied Vision Technologies cameras Pike 421B and 421C have a 1.2 inch Kodak CCD Chip embedded. The reason for this large sensor format - which until now has not been very common in machine vision - is the goal to achieve high resolution (4 mega pixels) images with low noise. Therefore the imager has the wide pixel pitch 7.4 µm. However this innovation places certain constraints on the optics. The Kodak CCD uses micro lenses to get a high fill factor - a high effectiveness - because of this, the sensitivity of the pixel depends on the angle of the incident light.
