1 ALI-IPD3030R 3.0 Megapixel IR Mini Dome IP Camera Quick Installation Guide The ALIBI ALI-IPD3030R dome camera includes 3.0 mdgapixel video performance in a small form factor network camera. The camera can be mounted directly to a ceiling, or onto a 3-gang box using the adapter plate provided. See Specifications for voltage and wattage requirements. Step 1. Insert MicroSD card into the camera A MicroSD card installed in the provides local storage for video recordings, capture files, and log data. The MicroSD card can hold as much as 64 GB of data. NOTE: If the camera is not managed by an NVR or other video management system (VMS), and doesn t have a MicroSD card, video recordings, capture files, and log data are not saved. 1. Remove the camera cover. Use the L-wrench to unscrew the four captive screws that secure the cover to the base assembly, and then separate it from the base assembly. At this time, do not remove the plastic film that protects the clear plastic dome. 1 ALI-IPD3030R_CQ 4/3/15

2 Cover (captive) screw (4) 2. Insert a microsd card into the card slot as shown in the photo below. The label on the card should face away from the mounting surface. MicroSD card shown in slot Back of camera assembly 3. Push the MicroSD card into the slot as far as possible, and then release it. It should click into place when fully inserted. MicroSD card installed To remove the microsd card, push the card all the way in to release it from the connector, then lift it out of the slot. During installation: Camera Lens: Handle the camera carefully to prevent scratching or soiling the lens. If the lens or IR array shield becomes soiled, clean it only with approved products. See the Cleaning section. Camera drop cable: The camera drop cable splits into three separate cables. Ethernet RJ-45 connector cable: For transmission of the video signal across a coax (75 Ω) BNC extension cable. Power connector cable: When applying Vdc power, observe the power polarity. See the picture above for connector polarity configuration. The camera can be powered using Power over Ethernet (PoE) Alarm I/O and audio out connectors cable: Screw-down terminals are provided for alarm input, alarm output, ground, and audio output. 1. Determine the method for mounting the camera considering: The camera can be mounted in the following ways:»» Directly to a ceiling, with the drop cable passing through the ceiling»» To a ceiling using the adapter plate, with the drop cable passing through the side of the plate.»» To a 3-gang electrical box using the adapter plate. With this method, the camera drop cable can attach to extension cables inside the box. The camera lens adjustments allow a pan of ± 30, tilt of 0 ~ 75, and rotation of 0 ~ 360. When mounting the camera, point it at your surveillance target. The camera drop cable is 18" long. 2. Determine the best mounting hardware (screws, wall inserts) for the surface on which you will mount the camera. The screws and wall inserts are adequate for many types of surfaces. 3. Mark the locations on the mounting surface for mounting screws and cable(s): If mounting the camera directly to the surface (without the adapter plate): i. Attach the drill template to the surface with the Front arrow pointing at your surveillance target. ii. Mark the location of the two mounting screw holes, and the hole for the drop cable. If mounting the camera directly to the surface with the adapter plate: i. Inspect the camera and the mounting plate to understand how they will attach to each other. ii. Hold the adapter plate on the mounting surface, oriented so that the camera, when attached, will point at its surveillance target. iii. Mark the location of the mounting screw holes, and the hole for the drop cable where routing the drop cable through the surface. Note that the drop cable can be routed through the cable trough and out the side of the plate. If mounting the camera, with the adapter plate, to a 3-gang box: i. Inspect the camera the mounting plate and the gang box to understand how they will attach to each other. ii. Hold the gang box on the mounting surface, oriented so that the camera, when attached, will point at its surveillance target. iii. Mark the location of the mounting screw holes, and the hole for the extension cables into the box. 4. Drill holes for the mounting screws and extension cables, as needed. 5. If installing the camera to the mounting surface with the adapter plate, attach the adapter plate to the surface at this time. Mounting surface Step 2. Install the camera Before installation: Do not remove the plastic film that protects the clear plastic dome. Make sure that the device is in good condition and all the assembly parts are included. Check the specification of the products for the installation environment. Make sure that the mounting surface is strong enough to hold 3 times the weight of the camera. To avoid fire or shock hazard, use only UL listed power supplies. Verify that the power supply will provide the rated voltage and wattage for the camera. See the Specifications section. 3 3-gang box 4. To open the Alibi Discover Tool, double click the file Alibi Discover Tool.exe. The tool will automatically discover Alibi cameras and recorders installed on the network. Adapter plate 7. Route the Ethernet, power, alarm I/O, and audio out extension cables from the camera mounting location to the devices they will connect to. Do not apply power to any extension cables at this time. 8. Connect the extension cables to the camera drop cables. When connecting the alarm I/O and audio out extension cables to the 4-terminal drop cable, use the terminal marked GND for the ground connection. Ensure that the camera is pointing at your surveillance target. 10. Connect the other end of the extension cables to the devices they attach to. 11. Apply power to the camera through the 12 Vdc extension cable or through the Ethernet cable using PoE. If using 12 Vdc to power the camera, observe the polarity of the power drop cable. See above. NOTE: Do not install the cover on the camera assembly at this time. In the screen shown above, an ALI-IPD3030R camera was discovered. This camera, although installed on a subnet other than the one implied by its IP address is shown, is still found by the tool. 5. To change the network settings of the camera to be compatible with the subnet where it is installed, do the following: a. Click the device to highlight it. Notice that the network parameters are populated in the frame on the right. CAUTION Before applying power to the camera, ensure that the polarity is correct. An incorrect connection may cause a malfunction and can damage the camera. Step 3. Install the Alibi Discover Tool The Alibi Discover Tool is a software utility used to discover Alibi cameras and NVRs/DVRs installed on the LAN and change their network settings. The tool is provided on the CD with your camera. To use the tool: 1. Insert the software CD provided with your camera into an optical drive on the Microsoft Windows computer you will use to access your camera on the LAN. 2. On the CD, find the folder that contains the Alibi Discover Tool. 3. Copy the files in the folder to a new directory on your computer. The files should appear as shown in the directory shown below. b. Modify the network settings to values compatible with the subnet where it is installed. c. Enter the admin password for the device in the password field. By default, the admin user password for Alibi cameras is d. Click the Save button. 4 Tools icon 6. Close the Alibi Discover Tool by clicking the Close icon ( T ) in the upper-right corner of the screen. Step 4. Login to the camera b. In the Compatibility View Settings window, ensure that the IP address of your camera is in the Add this website field, then click Add. To access the camera from a computer on the LAN: 1. Open your Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) browser on your computer and enter the IP address of the camera in the URL field. In the example below, the IP address of the camera is c. After clicking Add, the IP address will appear in the Websites list. Click Close. 4. If this login is the first login to an Alibi camera from your computer and browser, continue with the following sub-steps to install WebComponents: a. After a successful login to the NVR, a message will appear in the middle of the Live View window requiring you to load a plug-in. Click on the message to continue, then click Run in the pop-up block at the bottom of the screen. 2. In the login window, enter your User Name and Password in the appropriate fields, then click Login. The default User Name and Password for Alibi cameras is admin and If this is the first time you are logging into a camera at this IP address AND you are using Internet Explorer 10 or newer, you must configure IE for Compatibility mode: a. In Internet Explorer, click the Tools icon (located to the right of the tabs), then select Compatibility View settings from the drop-down menu , 2015 Observint Technologies, Inc. 5 Some computer security software may attempt to block you from running WebComponents.exe. If necessary, open the Internet Explorer downloads list, right click on the WebComponents.exe file name, then click Run Anyway. Observe the Live View screen to adjust the direction of the camera. 1. Loosen the pan lock screw. 2. Install the lens adapter tool. See below. NOTE Pan adjust +30 ~ 30 Pan lock screw Rotation adjust 0 ~ 360 Lens adapter Tilt adjust 0 ~ 75 b. In the Setup - WebComponents window opens, click Next to continue. 3. While observing the video image from the camera, adjust the camera pan, tilt and rotation to aim the camera at your surveillance target. 4. Tighten the pan lock screw. 5. Remove the lens adapter tool. 6. Reinstall the camera cover, and then remove the protective film from the clear plastic dome. Step 6. Adjust the video display Installing the WebComponents plugin may require that you close the browser. Follow the onscreen instructions, then restart your browser and log in after the installation is finished. The video Display Settings menu includes the image-related configurable parameters for the camera. It contains several sub-menus such as Image Adjustment, Exposure Settings, Day/Night Switch, etc. that can be opened or closed for compactness. Additionally, several adjustments can be seen in the Live View image on the menu. To open the Display Settings menu, go to Setup tab Image Display Settings c. Allow the plug-in installation to complete. When the following window appears, click Finish. Step 5. Adjust the pan, tilt and rotation After logging into the camera, the Live View - Main stream window initially appears. Live View options Screen select tabs Live View image Logout button Configurable parameters include: Switch Day and Night: Select either Auto-Switch or Scheduled-Switch. If using Auto-Switch, open the Day/Night Switch submenu to set the Sensitivity, Filtering Time, and Smart IR features ON or OFF. If using Scheduled Switch, set the Start Time and End Time of the switch, and then open the Day/Night Switch submenu to set the Smart IR feature either ON or OFF. Also, click the Common, Day and Night tabs to set the Saturation, Hue, Brightness, Contrast and Sharpness for Day and for Night modes. 6 Image Adjustment submenu: Open the Image adjustment submenu to set the Saturation, Hue, Brightness, Contrast and Sharpness of the video image. Each parameter can be set to a level of 0 ~ 100 either by moving the slider or entering the value in the box on the right. The effect of the adjustment will appear in the Live View image in the menu. Exposure Settings submenu: In this submenu, set the following for the best performance: Iris Mode: Select Auto or Manual. Some cameras may not offer both options. Exposure Time: Value ranges from 1/3 s to 1/100,000 s. The nominal value is 1/150. Adjust it according to the lightening condition. Gain: Set the gain to show the optimal brightness level. Day/Night Switch submenu: You can set the Day/Night switch to Day, Night, Auto, or Schedule. The option you select determines the submenu options. Day or Night: These options both have one parameter: Smart IR. Auto: If you select Auto switch, you can set the sensitivity (0.. 7), filtering time and Smart IR. Schedule: Use Schedule to set that Start Time and End Time for the switch. Smart IR is also selectable. Backlight Settings: Backlight settings include BLC Area (Off, Up, Down Left Right Center), the area to control, and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) ON or OFF. White Balance: White Balance selection is used to correct colors in the image depending on the lighting source. You can also set the white balance manually (MWB), using Automatic White Balance (AWB1), and lock the white balance setting (Locked WB). Image Enhancement: Options in this submenu include Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) ON or OFF. If ON, you can also adjust the level of noise reduction. Video Adjustment: Video Adjustment includes: Mirror: Mirror adjustment enables you to flip the image (Up/Down), flip Left/Right (reflect or Center). Rotate: Rotate rotates the image +90 degrees. Rotate and Mirror can be used to adjust the image in any orientation. Video Standard: Select 60 Hz for NTSC format. Capture Mode: To make a complete use of the 16:9 aspect ratio, you can enable the capture mode when you use the camera in a narrow view scene. Step 7. Change default password Observint Technologies strongly recommends that you change the default admin user password in your camera from 1111 to a different code to help protect against unauthorized access. You must login to the camera with the admin user name to change the admin password. To change the admin password: 1. Click the Setup tab, and then click Security in the left frame. 2. Click the User tab in the menu on the right. 3. Click the admin User Name to select (highlight) it, and then click the Modify button. The Modify User pop-up window will open. 4. In both the Password and Confirm fields, enter a new password. The password can contain 0.. 9, A.. Z, and a.. z. Record your new password for future reference. 5. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window. Do not touch sensor modules with fingers. If cleaning is necessary, use clean cloth with ethanol and wipe it gently.
