8 1. Information. Empowering communities with interactive health information anytime anywhere Health Systems must include community involvement to function optimally. The better people are informed about their health and wellness (including the services that are available to them) the more likely they are to better manage their health issues including accessing available health services.

Willingness to Interact : People have been happy to provide their cell-phone numbers and want to be sent relevant health information Over 90% of people are willing to give us their phone numbers to send them Health information. This opens the door for integration into health systems and allows for significant meaningful interaction
13 2. Cost of services is a factor and really matters to the user. This can be very well mitigated by integrating applications into the social networks they are already using Mxit and Facebook If people have very basic phones then the most effective way to reach them is through USSD star menus which allows for Interaction
14 3. Mobile marketing works : It can reach millions of people in a cost effective way and direct them to integrated interactive services
15 An example of the power of community based mhealth for collecting data Through our Mxit hi4life application we run daily polls which now get over 2500 replies a day. These polls can provide access to very useful information, quickly & at a very low cost. 2 of the daily polls last month were : Did you use a condom last time you had sex? & If you have had sex without a condom what was the main reason?
