5 Major activities/deliverables TC STQ NGN related QoS, including voice and Multimedia WIs were created in TC STQ after closing of WG5(QoS) in TC TISPAN. A work program has been elaborated (taking also into account the results of the workshop on multimedia QoS) : see slide WI113 aims to provide a "Framework for end-to-end quality assessment of multimedia services ES on "Audiovisual QoS for communication over IP networks has been published. Ongoing: a version 2 including new accesses (cable, ) and methods (new models to be taken into account) A new WI for ModemoIP and FaxoIP (expected associated with a STF) User related QoS parameter definitions and measurements : EG series has been updated A new EG "QoS and network performance metrics and measurement methods; part 2: Transmission Quality indicators combining Voice Quality metrics. 5

6 Major activities/deliverables TC STQ (NarrowBand Wideband Superwideband and fullband) Speech terminals (in particular for VoIP and wireless) The only way to ensure a good speech quality in E2E communication is to ensure that all the terminals provide good quality the efforts to be similar for all the terminals A strong effort has been done to produce all the deliverables in due time. results have been disseminated inside and outside ETSI (DECT and partly 3GPPSA4) For handset, Headset and Handsfree functions; narrow and wideband speech 4 ES for VoIP Terminals ( ES , , & ) On going works for Wireless terminals WI140: V1 in Sept. Future work on "superwideband and fullband terminals". The first task will be to define the major use cases. 6

7 Major activities/deliverables TC STQ Published Results of STFs EG part1 (result of STF 273) and parts 2&3 (results of STF 294) A Methodology to record and playback environmental noise and a speech data base in noisy environments A quality model for wideband speech (the adaptation for narrowband has been developed outside the STF); Quality criteria and test methods WI 104 : QoS and network performance metrics and measurement methods. Part 1 provides general concepts, Part 3 defines network performance metrics and measurement methods in IP networks (taking into account, in particular, results from IETF and ITU-T). Part 4 Indicators for supervision of Multiplay services Specification and measurement of speech transmission quality. Updates of EG is updated in order to take into account the new available quality models (developed mainly inn ITU-T SG12 no duplication of work) Interoperability events/ Plugtests TR Series : Part 1 describes the test methodologies of ETSI plugtests "Speech Quality Test Events"(STQE). The other Parts provide the anonymous report of the global results of the test events. Similar approaches have been developed for tests conducted in collaboration with xdsl & GPON plugtests (speech quality in the context of multiplay services) a new series of TR (WI 132). Ongoing work 7

8 Major activities/deliverables - WG STQ Mobile The major activity is to update TS Series to take into account new services (based on Change requests) In particular the following services have been added :WAP parameters, DVB-H specific QoS parameters, Other topics : test methodology respective to Store&Forward parameters; Streaming & Timeouts New WI on Media download Recently STQ mobile has agreed to consider ongoing standardization work for MTSI services and will collaborate with TETRA In complement STQ mobile has published (or plan to finalise) Technical reports in addition to TS series : TR : Estimating speech quality per call TR : Development of a reference web page TR : a study on the minimum additional required attenuation on the antenna path of field test equipment TR on SMS testing guidelines TR : Guidelines for the use of video quality algorithms for mobile applications 8

9 STFs (Special Task forces) on QoS TC STQ architectures STF 363: Quality of Service Implications of NGN Funded by ETSI Will be presented in session 2 of the Workshop User Group STF 360 QoS management at the Network Interfaces (juxtaposition) to optimize quality of the service delivered to the User Funded by ETSI Will be presented in session 3 of the Workshop STF 374 Assessment of Quality of Service (QoS) via audits and surveys including the life cycle steps other than utilization of the service Funded by EC/EFTA Presentation available on STF 375 Audit and approval of metering and billing systems Funded by EC/EFTA Presentation available on 9

10 Different to other TBs because STQ is ensuring the link between technology and real users A large part taking into account the psychophysics, and user's perception (collaborations with eg DECT, TISPAN, on one hand, and with user group on the other hand) Need of experiments and tests to validate the limits to be put in the standards. This may delay the finalisation of some deliverables. Covering a large scale of technical subjects (horizontal) Historically speech, but now also multimedia, audiovisual, data, for fixed and mobile networks. Guidance to be given to other bodies in charge of specific topics 10
