3 1 What is SavvyLevel? SavvyLevel is a complete integrated remote levelling system designed for caravans, campers, 4WDs and RVs. For use with Apple and Android TM smart phone/tablets that communicate to a tiny Bluetooth device mounted inside your caravan. It is extremely easy to use and boasts an amazing accuracy down to within 0.1 degree. A poor location could result in poor bluetooth connectivity or incorrect readings from the magnetic compass. Step 1 Selecting a good location Points to consider:- Do not mount device externally where it is exposed to the weather. 1

4 Do not mount device in wet areas. Do not mount device near large ferrous metallic objects or electrical devices that emit significant magnetic radiation - in particular keep away from ovens, microwave ovens and refrigerators. This will affect the accuracy of the magnetic compass. If you have access to a conventional compass, use it to test magnetic suitability at your selected location. Do not mount device inside a metallic box environment. Or where there are a significant amount of metallic objects that will restrict the bluetooth signal. Do mount the device where it is concealed but is readily accessible by the user (i.e. inside a cupboard or something similar). Do mount the device where it is accessible to a voltage supply (12v typical, but will accept supply from 6v to a maximum of 40v). Do follow mounting instructions listed in Step 2. Step 2 Mounting the SavvyLevel device It is very important that the SavvyLevel device be mounted in accordance to the instructions listed below. Failure to follow these instructions may render the device in operatable. The SavvyLevel device can be wall, floor or roof mounted provided that the front of the device is facing towards the front of the caravan (see Figure 1). Ensure device is mounted reasonably level (within 15 from horizontal) with the power cable running towards the rear of the caravan. 6 Step 3 Connecting power Connect power leads to a suitable 12v DC battery voltage source. The SavvyLevel device utilises a highly efficient power regulation system, it is able to operate from wide voltage sources ranging from 6v to 40v. It only draws a tiny amount of current (less than 12mA). Although this current is small it is still recommended that the supply is switchable to preserve battery charge during long periods of non-use. 5 Download the application The SavvyLevel application is available for download for Android on Google Play TM. Use QR Code for quick download 6 Connecting and Personalising We strongly recommended that you personalise your SavvyLevel device. This ensures that you will quickly be able to identify your device. The Passkey feature will prevent any unauthorised users from accessing your device. 1. Make sure your SavvyLevel device is powered on. 2. Select Connect device and from the list of scanned devices, select SavvyLevel to connect to the device. Once connected, you can begin to personalise your device. 4

7 Figure 2 Select Device name from the Security menu and enter your new device name (must be less than 12 characters) - see Figure 3. It can take several seconds to update the device with your new name. In some instances you may be required to re-connect to your device via the Connect device menu option. Change your passkey. By default your passkey is set to You must change this so that no one else can access your SavvyLevel device. Select Passkey from the Security menu and change your passkey to something else (can be a combination of any character or number but must be 6 characters long). It is also recommended that you do not use repeating characters. see Figure 4. Please make sure you record your new passkey and place it in a safe location. You must use the same passkey for all smart phone devices that you intend to use with your SavvyLevel device. If you lose your passkey you must reset the SavvyLevel device to factory default. Please refer to chapter 10 Resetting to Factory Defaults. Figure 3 Figure 4 7 Zero Calibration Zero calibration only needs to be performed once after the SavvyLevel device is first installed. 1. Place caravan on level ground. 2. Apply power to the SavvyLevel device. 3. Launch your SavvyLevel application from your smart phone or tablet. 4. Select Zero Scale from the Settings menu, and confirm changes. 5

8 8 Basic Operation for Android Figure 5 This description refers to the Android application. 1. Zoom scale. Select to change gauge zoom from normal scale (±45 tilt) or zoom scale (±4.5 tilt). Because the zoom feature exaggerates the tilt of your caravan it is very handy to obtain a perfect level. 2. Zoom scale indicator. 3. North South (pitch) gauge indicator. Day/Night brightness operation In order to change screen brightness you need to press and hold your finger for 1 second before you swipe left or right. If you have vibrate on your smart device, it will vibrate to let you know when to swipe. To change to day mode, press and swipe from left to right. To change to night mode, press and swipe from right to left. 6

To do this you need to gain access to your SavvyLevel device. 1. Remove the lid by gently squeezing it as shown in Figure 9. Figure 9 2. 10 Reset button Figure If the green LED returns to one quick flash every 5 seconds then the device is reset. Default settings are: Device Name: SavvyLevel Passkey: Launch your SavvyLevel application on your smart phone or tablet and select Passkey from the Security menu. Don t forget to personalise your device again, refer to chapter 6 Connecting and Personalizing. 11 FAQ Q My smart phone or tablet does not connect to my device. Smart phone status LED is blinking yellow. A Try relaunching you application. Else select Connect device menu option and reselect your device. If your device is not shown when you scan for new devices then it may already be connected to another smart phone. Else check that your SavvyLevel device is powered. If you see a continuously illuminated blue LED then your device is connected. No illumination of the blue LED means it is disconnected. Q My smart phone or tablet shows that I am connected to my device but I only get a message No signal from device all the time. A If the smart phone or tablet status LED is blinking green, then your smart phone is connected but it is not receiving any data. It is likely that the passkey is incorrect. Change your passkey to the correct value. If you don t know your passkey, then refer to chapter 10 Resetting to Factory Defaults. 8

12 14 Warranty Savvy Technical Solutions guarantees that this product is free of defects in materials and workmanship and will provide a 24 month replacement warranty from original date of purchase. Please retain your receipt for proof of purchase. Savvy Technical Solutions will provide lifetime application updates and support for iphone and Android. Benefits conferred by this warranty are in addition to all rights and remedies in respect of the product that the consumer has under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and similar state and territory laws. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. Exclusions I. Any failure that results from incorrect installation, not in accordance with manufacturers proper installation guidelines. This includes but is not limited to incorrect supply voltage or improper wiring. II. Any failure that results from unauthorized modification, tampering or attempted repair by persons not authorized by the manufacturer or its authorized distributor. III.
