1 Computer Technology Program Computer Department Course Catalog EE 56 PHYSICS: PRACTICAL Introduction to the fundamentals of Physics; Kinematics, Dynamics, Newton's Laws; Electricity, Ohm's Law and how to connect electrical circuits and measure some elements. ENG 91 ENGLISH: THEORETICAL Introduction to the simple and basic English; as well as speaking and writing simple and well organized English sentences and paragraphs on a variety of general topics. BS 1 INTRODUCTION TO SPECIALIST: THEORETICAL Introduction to all the electronics and technologies used in different majors offered in HITN departments. BS 20 TYPING: PRACTICAL This course enhances the skills of using Computer's Keyboard to type in both English and Arabic Languages. GS 91 MATHEMATICS: THEORETICAL Fundamentals of Math, algebra and trigonometry. GS 95 THE VALUES OF WORK AND LOYALTY: THEORETICAL Introduction to the Ethics and Values for the trainees to implement in their jobs. The course focuses on how the trainees will reflect their ethics and loyalty on developing their country. CM 121 COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE: THEORETICAL Introduction to most of today computer etymologies. It identifies the functions of major computer hardware components, discusses major memory systems and their newest standards in the market. It also illustrates the use of multi-core processors. In addition, it explains how input and output devices deal with data. 1
2 CM 122 MULTIMEDIA: PRACTICAL Introduction to multimedia, sound/audio and image/graphics. A practical project using an authoring applications to work with multimedia. CM 124 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: PRACTICAL All about computer's hardware parts and software. Mastering and managing desktop environment. Define and practice with MS office Application (Word, Excel and Power point), communicate using internet and electronic messages. CM 125 DATABASE 1: THEORETICAL Creating and managing database using SQL. Study advance features of SQL. ENG 101 ENGLISH: THEORETICAL This course introduces the basics of English language; how to use dictionary to help in reading; and write simple paragraphs using helping topics. PREREQS: ENG 91 CM 180 DATABASE 2: PRACTICAL Advance database using Access. Linking and exporting data. Advanced forms and queries. CM 181 PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE 1: THEORETICAL Introduction to programming language. The student must know how to create simple programs; and use some simple functions and the concept of looping. CM 183 DATA COMMUNICATION & NETWORKING: THEORETICAL Introduction Networks; their types, standards, topologies, protocols and connectivity devices. Study different types of transmission media and compare between them. WAN topologies and transmission techniques. Introduce Wireless Network; its characteristics and architecture. CM 184 BASIC COMPUTER MAINTENANCE: PRACTICAL Introducing to Professional tech. traits, ethics & other communication skills. Defining & integrating safety into workplace. Exploring the functions & components of PC & recognizing external connections of PC. Manipulate with WINDOWS 7 interface, Windows Explorer & control panel. Identifying & accessing BIOS via CMOS. Maintaining & trouble 2

PREREQS: CM 121 ENG 151 ENGLISH: THEORETICAL This course enhances the ability to read and speak English as well as writing simple paragraphs using helping pictures PREREQS: ENG 101 BS 109 OCCUPATION HEALTH & SAFETY: THEORETICAL Introduction to the work place, type of hazards, avoid danger in work places and treatment of accidents in emergency cases. Maintenance Concentration EE 272 DIGITAL CIRCUITS: PRACTICAL Logic gates functions, operations and different logic operations, connect the combinational logic circuit and construct the sequential logic circuits. PREREQS: EE 56 EE 273 DIGITAL CIRCUITS: THEORETICAL Introduction to the digital concept and number systems, explain the Boolean algebra and concept of flip-flop circuits, counters and shift registers. PREREQS: EE 56 EE 278 PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRICITY: PRACTICAL Basic concepts of the dc & ac circuits, laws and theorems on the electric circuits, also to be able to connect the electric circuits and use the measuring devices to measure electric quantities. PREREQS: EE 56 CM 222 COMPUTER MAINTENANCE: PRACTICAL Installing and configuring the computer's hardware parts. Diagnose and troubleshoot main PC problems using utilities and protection software programs. PREREQS: CM 121 CM 223 OPERATING SYSTEMS 1: THEORETICAL Introduction to Operating System's concepts, types, structures, as well as process scheduling, memory management and file system. 3

PREREQS: ENG 151 EE 286 DIGITAL ELECTRONICS: PRACTICAL Semiconductor basics, power supply and DIODE applications and bipolar junction transistor, to be familiar with integrated circuits & logic families. PREREQS: EE 278 CM 220 NETWORK ADMINISTRATION: THEORETICAL Introduction to network administrations. Work with network operating system. Join workgroup and domain. Use command prompt tool to configure/ diagnose workstations. Configure DNS & DHCP server. Install cables. Six hours laboratory. CM 282 WINDOWS SERVER: PRACTICAL Windows Server fundamentals, install & configure windows server, Active Directory, Deploy DNS & DHCP, implement virtualization using Hyper V. CM 285 OPERATING SYSTEM 2: THEORETICAL Introduction to Linux as an open-source operating system and familiarizes them with a variety of UNIX/Linux commands, to prepare them for server maintenance when operating Linux servers. PREREQS: CM 223 CM 286 COMPUTER MAINTENANCE SOFTWARE: PRACTICAL Computer maintenance software using windows utilities and diagnostic tools to detect and remove viruses and optimize performance of the computer. PREREQS: CM 184 ENG 263 ENGLISH: THEORETICAL Introduction to notes-taking, technical reports writing and scan reading. PREREQS: ENG 213 Programming Concentration CM 230 DATABASE 3: PRACTICAL This course introduces design corporate level forms and reports, automate actions using Macros, maintaining database integrity, security, dealing with multi-users PREREQS: CM 180 4
5 CM 221 CUSTOMERS SERVICE: THEORETICAL The fundamentals of users classification, problem solving, customer service, and writing reports. The course introduces student to help-desk work environment including support management. CM 223 OPERATING SYSTEMS 1: THEORETICAL Introduction to Operating System's concepts, types, structures, as well as process scheduling, memory management and file system. CM 231 PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE 2: THEORETICAL Introduction to JAVA. Students learn to write codes including OOP paradigm, define objects, create arrays, and JAVA classes. PREREQS: CM 181 CM 233 SYSTEMS ANALYSIS: THEORETICAL Understanding the fundamentals of systems analysis and design. Understanding the 5 phases of SDLC; translating business requirements into an information system. Understanding data & process modeling and object modeling. PREREQS: ENG 151 CM 294 PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE 4: PRACTICAL Advanced level of programming language. Students learn the use of object oriented languages and designing user interface for windows. PREREQS: CM 181,CM 231 CM 283 PROJECT MANAGEMENT: THEORETICAL Introduction to project management principles and the project management (role and ethics. Understanding the life cycle of project, project scope, time, costs and quality. Understanding risk management. CM 288 SHELL SCRIPTING: PRACTICAL This course intended for student who have mastered the basic Linux/Unix operating environment and who would like to read and understand the various administrative scripts, and write scripts to automate day-to-day tasks. 5
6 PREREQS: CM 223 CM 290 WEB-PAGE DESIGN: PRACTICAL Introduction to the principles of designing a website; interface design; authoring, including standardized code and proprietary software; user experience design; and search engine optimization. The course focuses on the front-end (client side) design of a website including writing mark up. CM 292 WEB-PAGE PROGRAMMING: PRACTICAL Students in this course learn to create a basic static websites using HTML, CSS, and Java Scripts. Students learn to use the Bootstrap to speed up web development, also jquery to enhance website functions. ENG 263 ENGLISH: THEORETICAL Introduction to notes-taking, technical reports writing and scan reading.
