2 Introduction The Data Center Real User Monitoring (DC RUM) Professional Certification covers Dynatrace APM and NPM technologies. It validates that you have the skills and competencies to manage DC RUM components, configure DC RUM to monitor your application(s) for performance and user experience, analyze results, troubleshoot issues, perform fault domain isolation, and produce reports for your enterprise. This exam is not based on a specific software version. However, it is recommended to use the most current software version and training materials for exam preparation. This exam blueprint provides the content and context of the DC RUM Professional Certification. Please review this blueprint in its entirety to gain a thorough understanding of exam expectations and requirements. Prerequisite Knowledge While knowledge and experience with DC RUM is required to achieve this certification, examinees must also have working knowledge in the following areas: Familiarity with application topology: Client-Server, Web Servers, Load Balancers, App Servers, etc. Experience working with dashboard-based monitoring tools Basic knowledge of application operations, such as web requests and database queries High level understanding of LAN/WAN, routers, and switches Familiarity with network administration, design, and topology Comfortable with basic Windows and Unix administration tasks Exam Preparation The DC RUM Professional Certification is intended for APM professionals who have both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with DC RUM. Examinees must demonstrate proficiency in both to pass the exam. In order to assist certification candidates with their exam preparation. The combination of virtual instructor led training (vilt) courses, self-paced learning on Dynatrace University, self-study in the Dynatrace Community, and some basic hands-on experience will prepare the examinee for certification. Prior to taking the exam, there is an option to take the Taste of the Test. This gives individuals the opportunity to take an example of the exam without it being counted in the total score. We strongly recommend that candidates achieve the following milestones in preparation for the exam: DC RUM Associate Certification (Required) At least six months of experience working with DC RUM (at least two monitored applications that include HTTP and database traffic) Be an active participant in the Dynatrace APM Community ( including: o Product documentation o Knowledge Base articles o Discussion forums o Webinars Attend classroom instructor-led or virtual instructor-led courses (available on request). 3 Exam Format This certification is administered in two parts: 1. Data Center RUM Professional Written Exam 2. Data Center RUM Professional Practical Exam You must pass the written portion of the exam prior to sitting for the practical portion. The written and practical portions are administered in two separate sessions. You must complete the practical portion within three months of passing the written. Written Exam The written portion of the certification is approximately 139 questions including both multiple-choice and multiple-response items. 1. Multiple-choice: select one option from a list that best answers the question or completes the statement. 2. Multiple-response: select multiple options from a list to answer the question or complete the statement. Multiple-response test items are clearly identified. You will be given two hours to complete the written portion of the certification. The written portion is 100% computer graded, with a passing score of 76%. Scheduling Certification exams are administered and proctored by Examity. Dynatrace has partnered with Examity, an online proctoring service, to protect the value of the certification. By utilizing an online proctor, there is no need to travel to a testing center. The exam can be taken on a computer, from almost any location. To schedule an exam, please log in to Dynatrace University and follow the certification icons. Once you have accepted the Dynatrace Certification Terms and Conditions, you can connect with Examity to schedule the exam. You must schedule the exam at least 24 hours in advance of the time in which you wish to take the exam. Alerts Comparison modes Alert types Notifications Creating alerts Practical Exam The practical portion of the certification is a hands-on component requiring examinees to configure DC RUM components and configure application monitoring in a heterogeneous virtual environment. You will also be required to analyze out-of-the-box reports and create custom reports. The practical portion of the exam will require answers in the multiple-choice format, screenshot submission, and short answers, which require examinees to submit a value or name of an item found in a report. The screenshot and open response items require manual grading, therefore examinees will receive results within three to five days of completing the practical portion of the exam. The passing score for the practical is 91%. You will be given two and half hours to complete the practical portion of the exam.
