6 PEC Application General Information 2018 Practice Education Course General Information Practice Education Course June 5 7, 2018 Montréal Candidates who have satisfied the eligibility requirements should complete the following registration form and return it to the CIA Head Office along with payment of the registration fee by April 6. Full payment and the official transcript(s) from an actuarial body are required at the time of registration; otherwise, the registration will not be processed. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the date of receipt of the registration form and payment of the registration fee. However, due to size considerations, some practice area specialties may not be offered at every PEC session. Registrations will be accepted on a space-permitted basis. Attendance will be restricted to candidates who have completed sufficient advanced education and who have accumulated at least two years work experience (including co-op time) to be able to participate fully. A confirmation message will be sent via within 10 business days. If you do not receive an within 10 days, contact Leslie Lenton at ext. 134 or leslie.lenton@cia-ica.ca. Cancellation and Refund Policy Cancellation requests received in writing by the CIA Head Office at least seven business days prior to the first day of the PEC are eligible for a full refund less a $50 administrative charge. After that date, we will convert your payment received into a credit note, less the administrative charge of $125. This note is good for one full year, transferable within the same company, and redeemable towards one CIA meeting or seminar. Same-day cancellations and no-shows are not eligible for refunds or credit notes except under special circumstances, and will be evaluated on an individual basis. Cancellation requests should be sent to leslie.lenton@cia-ica.ca. The CIA has the right to cancel any PEC session if conditions warrant. In the event of such cancellation, registration fees will be refunded. The Institute will not be held liable for any airline or other cancellation fees assessed for attendees. Pre-requisites for PEC In order to obtain the FCIA designation, all candidates* must successfully complete the PEC. PEC candidates will be required to select a PEC track based either on their educational background, or upon evidence, certified by a Fellow, of at least two years of track-relevant experience at the time of application. ALL CANDIDATES must have two years of experience. If you chose track based on educational background, your experience does not have to match the PEC track. If you chose track based on at least two years of track-related experience, then your experience must be track-relevant. Please note that the Fellowshiplevel exam requirement outlined in the next page applies in all instances, even when the PEC track is based on work experience. (*Property and Casualty candidates will be required to attend PEC beginning in 2019.) Enrolment for the PEC is subject to the candidate satisfying the following conditions: The candidate has credit for Exams P, FM, MFE, MLC, and C; VEE credit for Economics, Finance and Statistics; completion of FAP requirements (eight FAP modules and both the interim and final assessments); Has, at the time of application, at least two years of track-relevant experience, certified by a Fellow, which has been accrued in Canada, or in their country of origin, or some combination thereof; and Successfully completed a minimum number of examinations as outlined on the following page: Page 6 of 7
