12 Sector-based MSC Schemes AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR Certification of Quality Management Systems for the global automotive supply chain to ISO/TS 16949:2009 NOW CHANGED TO IATF 16949:2016 Refer to IATF Transition Strategy ISO/TS > IATF at Certification to ISO/TS 16949:2009 is valid until 14 SEP 2018 After 1 OCT 2017, no more audits shall be conducted to ISO/TS 16949:2009

13 Sector-based MSC Schemes MEDICAL DEVICES SECTOR Certification of Quality Management Systems for the medical devices to ISO 13485:2003 NOW CHANGED TO ISO 13485:2015 Certification required by many national or regional regulations for medical devices such as Medical Devices Act 2012 in Malaysia Certification of Good Distribution Practice for Medical Devices (GDPMD) SIRIM QAS International was registered in Nov 2013 as CAB by the Malaysian Medical Device Authority under Medical Devices Acts 2012 to provide certification for ISO & GDPMD

15 Sector-based MSC Schemes FORESTRY SECTOR Notified certification body under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) operated by the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC). SIRIM QAS operates the following schemes: Forest Management Certification Scheme Chain-of-custody (CoC) Certification Scheme for forest products MTCS is a PEFC recognized certification scheme

16 Sector-based MSC Schemes PALM OIL SECTOR (RSPO) The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a multi-stakeholder group which developed : RSPO Principles and Criteria - which defines sustainable palm oil production, and RSPO Supply Chain Standard - for downstream users of certified sustainable palm oil or its derivatives. RSPO certification offered since RSPO P&C and RSPO SC schemes are accredited by Accreditation Services International (ASI) of Germany.

17 Sector-based MSC Schemes PALM OIL SECTOR (MSPO) The government recently introduced the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification scheme. Scheme is owned and managed the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB). SIRIM QAS International has been appointed as one of the CBs to offer certification under this scheme. Certification is based on several parts of MS 2530: i) Part 2:General principles for independent smallholders ii) Part 3:General principles for oil palm plantations and organized smallholders iii) Part 4: General principles for oil palm mills

18 Clean Development Mechanism Scheme (CDM) United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Scheme Market oriented mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol aimed at a promoting sustainable development and reducing GHG emissions Accredited by the UNFCCC to undertake the validation, verification and certification of emission reductions from CDM projects SIRIM QAS International has provided validation and verification services to CDM projects in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, India, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines.

19 National Mark of the Malaysian Brand Certification Scheme National Mark of the Malaysian Brand Certification Scheme was developed jointly by SIRIM QAS International and SME Corp. and is operated by SIRIM QAS International The aim of this programme is to develop local brands into brands which are recognized internationally The government is committed to promoting the MALAYSIAN BRAND Mark as one which depicts quality, excellence and distinction both locally and internationally and in the process, enhance recognition and acceptance of products/brands bearing the mark

91 CERTIFICATION SCHEME Certification based on the Product Category Rule (PCR) published by SIRIM Berhad The carbon footprint of a product is a sum of greenhouse gas emissions and removals in a product system, expressed as CO2 equivalent and based on life cycle assessment (LCA) which consider the cradle to grave concept

92 CERTIFICATION SCHEME SIRIM CFP Labelling & Certification Scheme is a Type III environmental declaration scheme that presents quantified greenhouse gas profile for the life cycle of a product to enable comparisons between products fulfilling the same function as defined under ISO/TS 14067:2013.
