It is designed to recognise extensive experience in production specific and generic skills for, or associated with, cable production. Holders of this certificate are able to undertake a range of production related activities under limited supervision in two specialist areas of cable production and cable testing. The National Certificate in Cablemaking (Level 2) [Ref: 0566] is a prerequisite to, and includes the same strand requirements as this qualification. For this qualification, people are required to broaden their industry knowledge and skills by selecting a different specialist strand to that chosen at level 2. Both qualifications share a selection of unit standards in the Core Elective components, and elective credits gained for the prerequisite qualification can be used to meet the credit requirements for this certificate.

4 NATIONAL CERTIFICATE in 4 of 14 Certificate holders are encouraged to undertake further training. This could be towards National Certificates in various production processes or engineering, many of which share common unit standards. 2 regulations for the qualification 2.1 entry information for programmes of education and training assessed against the unit standards in the qualification Prerequisite: National Certificate in Cablemaking (Level 2) with strands in Wiredrawing, Conductor Assembly, Extrusion, Cable Assembly, and Cable Testing [Ref: 0566]. People are required to select a different specialist strand to that chosen at level 2 in order to meet the requirements of this qualification. 2.2 recognition of prior learning People seeking recognition of prior learning for any unit standard will need to be assessed either by an accredited training provider, or a workplace registered assessor 2.3 summary of qualification requirements This qualification will be awarded to people who meet the requirements of the compulsory section, one of strands and include a minimum of 40 credits at level 3 or above. Please note that the strand must be different to that chosen in the level 2 prerequisite qualification, and will require verification by Competenz that this requirement has been met. Wiredrawing Strand A minimum total of 70 credits is required of which 40 are at level 3 or above, including all the unit standards listed in the core and strand compulsory lists and a balance of credits from the core elective.
