2 Basis The sector further education Banking & Finance is designed for employed persons (adults), who wish to deepen their knowledge in banking. The following regulations are based on the education programme BFE (Banking & Finance Essentials). 1. Scope The following regulations apply to all examinations within the Banking & Finance programme. 2. Examination announcement Before the examination, CYP will inform the participants over the relevant learning objectives, the form, duration and the date of the examination (including helping aids). 3. Examination enrolment 3.1 Written examination The candidates must enrol themselves for the examination. 3.2 Non-enrolment Candidates, who due to their own fault, fail to enroll for the exam will not be considered for the relevant examination. They must enroll for the next official examination date. This ruling does not apply to excusable reasons (refer to point 6). 4. Form of examination 4.1 Language The examination language is either German, French or English. The examination language chosen at enrolment cannot be changed later. 4.2 Examination objective Ensure relevant and theoretical knowledge in banking. 4.3 Examination scope The examination is in written form. The duration of the BFE Certificate examination is 120 minutes. The maximum score is 100 points. 40% of the questions are single- and multiple choice, 60% are open questions (text). 4.4 Content Selected learning objectives according to the education programme Banking and Finance Essentials. Various fields of banking will be reviewed. There is no emphasis on a single topic (e.g. ¾ of all the points refer to the topic investment funds). 3 5. Evaluation and Marks 5.1 Evaluation The examination is evaluated with marks. The performance ranges from mark 6 to 1, whereupon a mark of 4 defines a sufficient performance. Maximum number of points: 100 points. Required number of points for mark 4.0: 60% of the points. Only half marks are admissible. 5.2 Range of marks for the BFE-Certificate (100 points) Mark % (Points) , , , , , Non-attendance 6.1 Excusable reasons If a candidate has an excusable reason why he/she cannot attend or complete the examination, then CYP decides over the retake. Examinations can only be retaken with the relevant evidence and within the existing examination timeframes. The following excusable reasons are defined in the legal ordinance (Art 324a Abs. 1 OR): Illness or accident Pregnancy and maternity Death close relations Unforeseen military or civil service Natural disaster Candidates who are unable to attend the examination must immediately inform the secretariat before the examination start. 4 6.2 Own fault Candidates, who due to an inexcusable reason, do not attend or complete the examination receive the mark 1 (unfeasible or not conducted). If the candidate does not attend the examination, without deregistering, then the examination will be evaluated with not passed. 7. Permitted aids Calculator (without text function) Writing material Exception to policy: Dictionary: The use of a dictionary must be justified. The request must be submitted in writing to the head of the education programme at least 21 days prior to the examination date. After the granted request, the dictionary may only be used for translation purposes. The dictionary must not entail any personal notes or papers and must be presented to the examination supervision unrequested prior to the examination. 8. Forbidden aids, violation The examination board will be notified over any candidates who use forbidden aids or violate the examination regulations. The incident will be reviewed by the examination board. The further steps or sanctions will then be decided. Should the notification prove to be justified, the following measures can be taken: Evaluation of the relevant position with the mark 1 Annulment of the relevant examination 9. Custody, Results, Inspection CYP retains the examination for at least one year. The examination results will be published in CYPnet on the predefined dates. Insight in the completed examination is not permitted. 10. Retake Candidates who fail the examination may retake the exam without stipulations once. The BFE learning objectives at the time of the retake are relevant for the candidate. The candidate incurs the relevant costs (CHF ) 11. Certificate CYP issues the certificates to the successful graduates twice a year. The certificates will be sent directly to the graduate, respectively to the address stated in CYPnet. 5 The BFE certificate includes the following information: Candidates personal data Confirmation that the exam was successfully passed Mark and the percentage of correct answers Basis of the examination CYP signatory The certificate delivery to the graduate lies in the responsibility of CYP. 12. Appeal An appeal is only possible after failing the examination for the second time. The appeal must be in writing and justified. It must be sent to the CYP examination board within 30 calendar days after mark announcement. The appeal will then be examined, documented and the definitive decision will be made. 13. Legal validity These examination regulations are valid as of 1st September Adaptions to the education programme can lead to adaptions within the relevant examination regulations.
