Registered pesticides Please provide the list of pesticides registered for locust control in the country, indicating commercial trade names, active ingredients, concentration and formulation Trials with conventional and alternative pesticides - Have trials with conventional (i.e. chemical) pesticides been carried out recently? If yes, when, with which pesticides (trade name, active ingredient, formulation, concentration and dosage) and on which locust species? Which were the results in terms of efficiency and on impact on target and non-target fauna and flora? - Have trials with alternative pesticides been carried out recently? If yes, when, with which compounds (trade name, active ingredient, formulation, concentration and dosage) and on which locust species? Which were the results in terms of efficiency and impact on target and non-target fauna and flora? 6.3. Stocks - Is there a pesticide stock in the country? If yes, please provide a list indicating trade names, active ingredients and available quantities (i.e. an inventory of this stock). - Is the inventory of available locust related pesticide stocks regularly updated? 6.4. Storage and maintenance - Where are pesticides stored (location)? Please provide a list of existing warehouses indicating precise location, size (in m² and storage capacity) and brief description of the storage conditions. Some pictures would be appreciated. - How many persons are working in each warehouse? Which is their background? Do they use protective clothing during pesticide handling? - Are sampled of stored pesticides regularly analysed? When was made the last analysis? 6.5. Obsolete pesticides - Are there locust related obsolete stocks in the country? If yes, please provide a list indicating trade names, active ingredients and quantities still available. - What are the dispositions taken for disposal of obsolete pesticides? 6.6. Pesticide suppliers (public or private sector) and pesticide purchase - Are pesticides purchased on local or international market? When and how are the tenders made? - Are there pesticide producers or suppliers in the country? If yes, please provide a list with their name(s) and product(s) as well as quantities they can immediately provide or produce. 6
7 7. Human health and environmental issues - Is national staff sensitized on ways to reduce risks on human health and environment? If yes, how (training, documentation, media, etc.)? Please provide some examples. - Are protective clothing used during control operations and pesticides handling? Which ones? Please list the items of this equipment. - Which actions are taken for cleaning, storage and disposal of protective clothing, spraying material and empty pesticide containers? - Is the public informed and sensitized on possible health and environment effects of control operations, pesticides and on precautionary measures to be adopted? If yes, please indicate how and when? - Are effects on human health and non-target organisms monitored?
