1 Router U270 features description Dashboard The dashboard provides the user with basic information about the routers connectivity and settings such as IP addresses, MAC addresses, security settings, radio signal, software versions and more. Options and settings can t be made on this page. Status WAN Status WAN Status display the routers public IP address and IP addresses of primary and secondary DNS. The settings for primary and secondary DNS cannot be changed. 1

2 WiFi & LAN Status This menu provides information about the routers LAN IP address (standard gareway), IP address range for connected device, SSID, Wi-Fi password and Wi-Fi channel. LAN and Wi-Fi have separated submenus in the Settings menu to change these settings. 4G Status This page displays parameters for LTE connectivity such as radiosignals, band frequency currently in use, IMEI, IMSI and SIM-card status. All information provided here is being handled automatically by the router and cannot be changed manually. Software Status This page provides information about firmware versions. The router contains three separate firmwares for router, LTE module and DTB. 2

3 Device List On this page all devices currently connected to the router is being displayed together with their hostname, MAC-address, IP-address, type of connection and IP address lease time. UPnP Status UPnP Status displays all UPnP enabled devices in the network. Information about protocols being used, port numbers and IP-address are also provided. 3

4 Basic Settings LAN On this page all settings for the LAN can be changed or set. For example the routers private IPaddress (standard gateway), address space used by DHCP server and lease time for IP addresses can be changed. Static IP addresses can also be set. Static- IP-addresses is often used for web servers or printers or other devices that needs to be accessible from several other devices on a regular basis. Wi-Fi On this page the Wi-Fi settings can be changed. The most commonly changed settings are SSID and password to make the WLAN easier to recognize and connect to. There are also different options for security, frequency (channel), Wi-Fi standards and more. These settings usually don t need to be changed but can possibly enhance network performance during bad conditions. 4

5 Multiple SSID On this page up to five SSID s can be added. This means devices are able to connect to the router by using different login information. This feature should not be confused with dual band which is creating different networks that is operating on different frequencies. WPS On this page settings for WPS can be changed. WPS, or Wi-Fi protected setup, is a feature to easily establish a secure connection to a wireless network (WLAN). Devices may have different methods for WPS usage implemented, the methods used widely today is PSB (button push) method and PIN code method. By default PSB is enabled. To connect using PSB first find the SSID (printed on the routerlabel) in the list of available WLAN s and connect to it. When prompted for a WiFi key press the WPS button located on the back of the router, the router will now automatically send all authentication information to the connecting device. 5

6 UPnP On this page UPnP can be enabled or disabled. Universal plug and play is a set of networking protocols that permits networked devices such as personal computers, printers, Internet gateways, Wi-Fi access points and mobile devices to seamlessly discover each other's presence on the network and establish functional network services for data sharing, communications, and entertainment. Advanced settings Mac Filtering On this page rules for Mac Filtering can be added. Mac filtering is an option where the user or administrator can control access to the internet by disallowing or allowing traffic from specific devices only, based on MAC-address. 6

7 IP/Port Filtering On this page rules for IP/Port Filtering can be added. IP/Port filtering is an option where the administrator can control network traffic based on IP addresses, port numbers and protocol. Content Filtering On this page rules for Content Filtering can be added. Content filtering is an option for the user or administrator to block internet traffic based on URLs. This feature can also be combined with a time schedule. For example all connections to could be blocked 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. 7

8 Port Forwarding On this page rules for Port Forwarding can be added. Port forwarding is a feature for network gateways, such as routers, to allow traffic between devices inside the LAN and the internet based on IP-address and port number. For example, port 80 is being used for connections between web browsers and webservers. Port Forwarding also has options for what protocol to use, TCP and/or UDP. TCP is used for web traffic, and other services that demands zero packet loss. UDP is used for services that need to transfer a high amount of packets in a short period of time, for example video or audio streaming and games where loss of packets is to some degree acceptable. Virtual Server On this page rules for Virtual Server can be added. Virtual server is working similar to port forwarding with the exception of being able to map an IP address with different ports inside and outside of the LAN. 8

9 VPN Pass-through On this page different protocols used by VPN Pass-through can be enabled or disabled. By using VPN Pass-through the router allows L2TP, IPSEC and PPTP protocols used for communication between devices parse through the router when connected to a VPN (Virtual private network). DMZ On this page DMZ can be enabled or disabled. A Demilitarized zone (DMZ) can be identified as a device or sub-network located between a public network, such as the internet and a private network of for example a company. The DMZ protects the private networks and company data from being compromised. Webservers are typical DMZ devices. 9

10 DDNS On this page settings for DDNS can be set. Dynamic domain name system is a feature to rapidly be able to re-map IP-addresses on DNS servers. Often used by end users with dynamic IP-addresses when hosting webservers. To use DDNS the user will have to register an account at one of the DDNS providers available, choose a domain name and provide all needed information in the routers web GUI. Bridge Mode On this page Bridge Mode can be enabled or disabled. When configuring a device into bridged mode the routing and DHCP features are turned off. When bridge mode is enabled the router will only function as a signal converter. For more information see the U270V support document. 10

Wireless Clients On this page the administrator can kick and ban users that are connected to the router through Wi-Fi as well as un-ban banned users. Routing On this page rules for Routing can be added. Routing is an option for advanced user to set static routes for packages traversing through the router interfaces. This feature is only recommended for advanced users and can cause loss of internet connection. 11

12 IP Whitelist On this page rules for IP Whitelist can be added. The IP Whitelist feature is used for only allowing internet traffic being sent to and from specific devices based on IP addresses. 12

13 System Settings Firmware Upgrade On this page different options for Firmware Upgrade are available. By default the remote upgrade feature is enabled and implies that the router will upgrade its firmware automatically every time a new version is released by the manufacturer. Remote upgrade can be turned off Reset & Reboot On this page the router can be soft rebooted or have its settings restored to default. These options can be used when the router temporarily is not functioning as it should or the network is operating at low speed. Scheduled Reboot On this page the router can be set to regularly reboot itself. For example the router can be set to reboot every Tuesday 03:00. The router is able to run stable for a long period of time, however a reboot once in a while won t harm. 13

14 NTP On this page settings for NTP can be changed. NTP (Network time protocol) settings are used to set the time and date for the router. Time and date will be collected from the provided NTP server, by default no.pool.ntp.org based on the chosen time zone. Backup & Restore On this page the router configurations can be backed up and restored. The restore function will generate a file stored locally on the computer and can be used to easily restore all settings made after a factory reset. 14

15 Watchdog On this page rules for the Watchdog feature can be set. Watchdog is a feature for sending ping requests on a regular basis to an IP address or URL for a device or server chosen by the end user. If the watchdog rules are succeeded and the device does not answer on the requests sent the router will reboot. This feature can help keep track of internet connectivity of a remote device and the reboot is to rule out a router fail. 15

16 System Log On this page the System Log can be read. The system log will contain information about the routers latest actions and interactions. This feature is especially useful for debugging. 4G APN Settings On this page APN Settings can be configured. APN can be configured both automatically and manually. It is highly recommended to use the auto option due to complete loss of connection to the 4G-network if the router has incorrect APN configuration. 16

17 PIN Management On this page settings for the SIM-card PIN-code features can be configured. PIN-code is used for securing a SIM-card from unauthorized use. By default PIN-lock feature will be disabled, if activated the PIN can also be changed by applying the old PIN. 17
