You ll be guided step by step with easy to follow instructions that allow you to: Set up your home network Install and pair your smart devices Set up Nokia Smart Home automation Control and manage your Nokia Smart Home Gateways (supports A-240Z-A and G-240WZ-A) You ll need to download and install the Nokia SmartHome app on your smartphone to help you set up the Nokia Smart Home solution. 4 Chapter 1: Connect your Nokia Smart Home How to use the Nokia SmartHome mobile app to connect your Nokia Smart Home CPE and devices. Downloading the Nokia SmartHome mobile app The Android app can be downloaded from the Google Play store. The ios app can be downloaded from the Apple App store. 5 How to setup your wireless network To connect the Wi-Fi enabled devices in your home network to the ONT and the internet, you must enable and configure a wireless network on the ONT. Depending on the type of the ONT, the Wi-Fi options for wireless 5GHz may be available. Wireless 2.4GHz This frequency range is used by the b/g/n standard and can provide widely available bandwidths of up to 450 Mb/s. This configuration can be done as follows: 1. Open the SmartHome app. 2. Enter your user name and password in the login window, (see Appendix 3 for mobile app user credentials details). Figure 1 3. For login options, click the Advanced Settings option. A field to input the ONT s IP address will pop up. The default value is You can edit this field if necessary. 4. Click Login. 5. You will be directed to the Home/Dashboard screen [Figure 2] where the devices connected to the Wi-Fi network will be displayed. 6. Click on the icon, and you will be directed to the Network screen. 7. From the Network screen, enable Wi-Fi access by selecting the Enable Wi-Fi option. Figure 2 5 Nokia Smart Home user guide

Next, configure the 2.4GHz network by selecting the Wi-Fi 2.4GHz option, and you will be directed to the 2.4GHz screen. 10. From the 2.4GHz screen you can enable the 2.4GHz network by selecting the Enable option. From this screen, you can also configure other settings such as Mode, Bandwidth, Channel, Power, etc. (see Appendix 1 for recommended Wi-Fi parameters). Figure 4 6 Nokia Smart Home user guide

7 Wireless 5GHz This frequency range is used by the ac standard and can provide high capacity bandwidths of up to 1.3 Gb/s. Configuration can be done as follows: 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen click on the icon [Figure 2], and you will be directed to the Network screen. 2. From the Network screen, configure the 5GHz network by selecting the Wi-Fi 5GHz option. 8 How to setup a guest network Setting up a guest network is much the same as setting up your initial wireless network. You ll just need to select a different SSID from your initial network setup, enter a unique SSID (network name) and, if required, create a password for the guest network. Connecting to other devices Sometimes equipment or applications, in your home network may require traffic from the internet to be sent to them over a specific port. This is often the case with gaming consoles, for example, which requires you to configure port forwarding on the ONT. Figure 7 1. From the Advanced Settings screen, you can configure the following residential gateway functions: DHCP, DNS, Firewall, MAC Filter, IP Filter, URL Filter, NTP, DMZ, ALG, Port Forwarding, DDNS and Password. 3. 10 5. The Port Forwarding menu allows you to add or delete new entries for port forwarding. To add a new port forwarding entry, you can select a predefined app setting or add a manual entry. Select the App Name option to allow you to pick a pre-existing application for port forwarding. Alternatively, you can select Custom Settings to get your own port forwarding settings. 11 How to setup parental controls You can restrict access to or from the internet from within your home subnetwork in several ways: IP filter MAC filter Controlling access to websites IP filter IP filtering enables you to name the IP address of a device within your subnet (for example, x.x), and restrict the flow of certain types of IP data to or from that device, based on the IP address. Restricted content is discarded as it passes through the ONT. Figure From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the IP Filter option, and you will be directed to the IP Filter screen. 3. From the IP Filter screen, select the Enable option, then you will be directed to the IP Filter detail screen. From the IP Filtering detail screen, select the Mode option, which will allow you to pick the filtering type: Drop for upstream: Residential gateway will drop all traffic originating from the specified device. Drop for downstream: Residential gateway will drop all traffic with a destination to the specified device. 5. Select the Device option, which will allow you to either select a known device from the ONU memory or manually register a new device. 6. Select the Protocol option to allow you to select specific types of traffic for filtering or to filter all traffic. Figure 15 MAC filtering Equipment in your network is identified by the unique MAC address assigned to that device. You can restrict which devices have access to the internet according to their MAC address by allowing or blocking access for the devices listed (your choice). 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the Mac Filter option, and you will be directed to the Mac Filtering screen. From this screen, you can Enable or Disable the MAC filter option in the ONT. You can Block or Allow lists of MAC addresses. 3. Select the + option to add a specific Mac address. 13 4. Next, type in the MAC address you would like to filter on either the block or allow lists here, then select Done. The Block option will block all listed MAC addresses from reaching the home network. The Allow option will only allow the listed MAC addresses into the home network. Figure 17 Controlling access to websites Also known as URL filtering, you can restrict (or permit) access to certain websites by using equipment in your network. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option 2. Select the URL Filter option, and you will be directed to the URL Filtering screen. From the URL Filter screen, you can filter specific URL/web addresses at the ONU for all LAN devices. You can enable or disable this feature from this menu. If enabled you can select the mode of operation to either exclude or include URLs that will be filtered by the ONU, and add URLs (websites) that you wish to block or allow. 14 3. To add a new URL, just type in the URL address and port into the pop-up menu, then select Done. How to limit access to your network To protect your home network by limiting access of people outside of your network, set up the following security options: Figure 19 DMZ ALG Firewall Demilitarized zone (DMZ) A DMZ is a firewall configuration to improve the security of your network. It enables the router to provide an added layer of protection for your local network by intercepting and filtering traffic into and out of your network. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the DMZ option, and you will be directed to the DMZ screen. 15 3. From the DMZ screen, you can enable or disable the DMZ in the selected WAN, or add and remove devices from the DMZ by selecting available devices from the Internal Client option. Figure 21 Application level gateway (ALG) An ALG provides application security by understanding the protocols used by the applications that it supports and inspects protocol packets of traffic passing through it. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the ALG option, and you will be directed to the ALG screen. 3. From the ALG screen, you can enable or disable the ALG function for FTP, TFTP, SIP, H323, RTSP, L2TP and IPSec traffic. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

16 Firewall A firewall can protect your network against cyber-attacks from the internet. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the Firewall option, and you will be directed to the Firewall screen. 3. Select the Attack Protection option, and you will be directed to the Firewall detail screen. Figure From the Firewall detail screen, you can modify the firewall security level of the ONU and enable or disable protection against attacks; for example, denial of service (DoS) attacks. 17 How to change the login password of the ONT You can (and should) change the password that is used to log in to the ONT to ensure others cannot gain unauthorized access to your router and settings. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], and you will be directed to the Profile Manager screen. 2. From the Profile Manager screen, select the Settings option, and you will be directed to the Settings screen. 18 4. From the Change Password screen, you can add a new password for your ONT. How to assign IP address to devices in your network Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) enables the ONT to function as a DHCP server that can automatically assign an IP address to devices in your network from a predefined range of addresses. This is beneficial when you have multiple devices to prevent duplicate addresses being assigned. Alternatively, you can manually specify a static (unchanging) IP address to configure the ONT to function as a DHCP server and assign IP addresses. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the LAN option, and you will be directed to the LAN screen. 19 Configure the LAN settings as follows: Modify the ONU IP Address. Modify the ONU Subnet Mask. DHCP Enable: Enable or disable DHCP on the ONU. 9:41 AM STATIC DHCP BIND MAC ADDRESS d0:0f:6d:b1:81: Bind IP Address Start IP: Modify the first IP address for the range of possible IP addresses to assign. End IP: Modify the last IP address for the range of possible IP addresses to assign. Lease Time: Modify the length of time (in minutes) during which the IP address will apply to a device before it needs to be renewed. Static DHCP Entry: Add/Delete static DHCP entries. 3. To create a new static IP address assignment, select the Add option, and you will be directed to the Static DHCP screen. 20 How to setup a DNS A domain name server (DNS) translates userfriendly website addresses; for example, www. nokia.com, into the registered IP address assigned for that domain. Your computer uses a domain name server to look up the domain name you re trying to access. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the DNS option, and you will be directed to the DNS screen. 3. To add a new domain on the select the Add option under the Domain to Domain heading, and you will be directed to the DNS Edit screen. 21 5. To add a new domain to IP address DNS entry, you can enter a domain URL address and the new IP address. The new entry will be added to the Domain to IP Address list. How to setup a DDNS End users with internet access are assigned an IP address by their internet service provider (ISP). For most users, this address is dynamic, i.e., changes frequently. Figure 32 If you need to provide other users on the internet with an IP address where you can be reached (for example, if you are a hosting web service), the constantly changing IP address would be problematic. A dynamic domain name server (DDNS) can be used to map a URL address to your IP address. The ONU can be configured to provide regular address updates to the DDNS as changes occur. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the DDNS option, and you will be directed to the DDNS screen. 3. Select one of the DDNS available DDNSs, and you will be directed to the DDNS edit screen. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

22 4. From the DDNS screen, you can modify the specific DDNS settings such as enabling or disabling them, listing the specific ISP URL, domain name and username/password. 5. After modifying the parameters, select Done. Figure 34 How to use a network clock to setup the time on your ONT Network Time Protocol (NTP) enables you to synchronize the time setting of your ONU with an external network time source. This menu allows you to enable or disable NTP settings on the ONU and modify/add the NTP servers used. You can also select different time zones for ONU login purposes. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the icon [Figure 2], then select the Advanced Settings option. 2. Select the NTP option, and you will be directed to the NTP screen. 23 3. To enable the NTP, select the Enable option 4. Next, add the NTP server by selecting a pre-configured server or input the server address by selecting custom settings. There is also an option to add a second NTP Server that can be used if the first server is down. 5. Provide the interval time in the Interval Time input field provided. 6. Select a Time Zone for ONU login purposes and select Done. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

24 Chapter 2: Prepare your Nokia Smart Home Login Follow these steps to create rooms and add devices. 1. Connect your smartphone to the Wi-Fi interface of the ONT. Figure Open the SmartHome app. 3. Enter your user name and password in the login window. If you are logging in to the app for the first time, use the user name and password on the back of the ONT. 4. For login options, click the Show Advanced toggle button. A field to input the ONT s IP address will pop up. The default value is You can edit this field if necessary. 5. Click Log in. 25 Adding a device 1. When you log into the app for the first time, you will be prompted to add a device dashboard screen appears. 2. Click on the Add A Device button to get to begin the activation process. Figure 39 Pairing a device 1. Once you have selected the Add A Device button, you will be directed to the Pair Device screen. 2. Select the appropriate protocol for the device that you want to add ZigBee, Z-Wave, or WiFi Camera. Figure Once you have selected the appropriate protocol, the ONT will search for devices based on the selected protocol, and you will see the Searching screen. You will be prompted to press the hardware button on your device to begin the pairing process. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

26 4. Once your device is recognized by the ONT, you will be directed to a screen that confirms that your device was found. 5. Select the Next icon to continue. Figure If the ONT is unable to find your device, you will be directed to a screen that displays the message, Device Not Found. 7. Select the Search Again icon, to begin the device search process again. Device not found Trying pairing your device again PAIR DEVICE NEED HELP? Figure If the device you are trying to add to the system, is not a supported device, a screen indicating that the device is an Uncertified Device will be displayed. Figure Once the ONT finds and pairs the device, you will be directed to the Confirm Device screen. Review the device to confirm it is the correct device, and then select the Next option on the upper right hand of the screen. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

27 Naming a device 1. Next, you will be directed to the Name Device screen where you can name enter a unique name for the specific device you have just added. After naming the device, select the Next option on the upper right hand of the screen. Figure 46 Adding a room 1. Next, you will be directed to the Rooms screen where you can add rooms and organize your smart devices by assigning them to the rooms they are located in. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

28 2. Next, you will be directed to the Assign Room screen where you can assign a room name to the newly added device. 3. Select one of the preset room names (Kitchen, Bathroom, Living Room, etc.), or create a custom room by selecting the greyed out + Custom option. From this screen, you can see the type of device added, the name of the device added, and the room the device is associated with. 5. There is a Favorites option on this screen, which if selected, will allow the device to appear on the Home screen. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

29 6. There is also an About option, which will direct you to the About screen where you will find more detailed information about the device added. 7. Select the back arrow on the upper left hand of the screen to return to the Device Added detail screen. After selecting Done from the Devices Added detail screen, you will be directed to the Home/Dashboard screen, which will now display the Favorite device (s) previously designated as a Favorite device in the top of the Home/Dashboard screen under the SmartHome banner. It will also show the status of the Favorite device(in this example, it shows the siren being OFF). You will see the number of added Devices, Rooms, and Scenes. Figure 52 Adding a scene 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select Scenes. 2. Next, you will be directed to the Scenes screen where you will be prompted to add a scene. 3. Select the Add Scene icon. 31 4. Next, you will be directed to the New Scene screen. From this screen, select the + Custom option. Figure Once you select + Custom option, you will be directed to a screen that will list devices you can add to your scene. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

32 Unpairing a device 1. You can unpair from the Device detail screen. Scroll to the bottom of the Device detail screen and you will see an option to Unpair the device. 2. Select the Unpair option to being the unpairing process. Figure Next, the system will begin searching for device to be unpaired. Note: you may need to press a button on the you are trying to unpair. 33 4. Once the system finds the device to be unpaired, you will be directed to the Confirm Device screen. 5. Select the Unpair button. Figure You will be directed to the Unpairing screen once again. Figure Once the unpairing process is complete, you will be directed to a screen that displays the message, The Device Has Been Successfully Unpaired. 8. 34 Creating an automation In this section, we demonstrate how to create an Automation based on the IFTT concept. Use case: Create an Automation that will unlock the door and turnon power for a gaming system, when a child returns home from school. 1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the Automation icon, and you will be directed to the Automation screen. 35 3. Next, you will be directed to the New Automation screen. 4. From the New Automation screen, select the Custom option to create a new automation. Figure Next, enter a unique name for your new automation. 6. Select the Done option. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

36 7. Next, you will be directed to the When screen. 8. From the When screen, select the Time option. Figure In this example, the Time trigger has been selected, which will direct you to the When Time screen where you can select a specific Time, or Sunrise, or Sunset, as times for your Automation trigger. 37 10. Next, you will be directed to the When Time screen where you can select a specific time for your automation trigger. 11. Select your automation trigger time, and select the Next option. Figure Next, you will return to the New Automation screen where you can view your newly created automation s name (Kids Home From School) and trigger (3:15). 13. 38 14. Next, you will be directed to the Do screen where there will be a list of paired devices that can perform some system action based on the trigger selected on the Time screen. 15. In this example, the Outlet Two option will be selected. Figure After selecting a device, you will be directed to a screen specific to the device selected. In this example, Outlet Two was selected and the screen for Automation details screen for Outlet Two is displayed. 17. In this example, Outlet Two has the Power option turned on, and is located in the Living Room. Select, Next to proceed with the automations setup. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

39 18. Next, you will be directed to the New Automation screen, which now displays your trigger (3:15 PM) and action (Turn On Outlet Two). 19. Select Add Condition to setup up a 2 nd condition for the trigger. NOTE: The Bolt Lock action would follow the same add process as the two Outlet Two action. Figure For this example, the Days condition will be selected. 21. Next, you will be directed to the Days screen where you can select the specific days for the But Only condition. 40 22. From here, you can select the specific days for the But Only condition. 23. Once you have selected your Days, select the Next option to continue. Figure Next, you will be directed to the Edit Automation screen where you can view the triggers, conditions, and actions of the automation. 25. Select Done to continue. Next, you will be directed back to the Automation screen where you will now be able to view the automation that was created along with a brief description of the automation below the Automation name. 27. You also be able see any existing automations created. In the example in Figure X, the I m Home automation was a pre-existing automation. 42 29. Once an automation is turned on, it can be turned off by selecting the automation name again. You will now see a gray indicator showing that the automation is turned off. Figure 77 Setting up a security video camera 1. Factory reset the camera based on manufacturer s instructions. 2. Enable the WPS and put in PBC mode using the regular RG WebGUI for 2.4GHz or 5GHz based on the camera. 3. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select the Devices option. 4. 44 8. On the Searching screen, there will be a message displayed that reads, Make sure your Wi-Fi camera is powered on and in pairing mode at this time. 9. Login to ONT web portal, and under Network and Wireless (2.4GHz) make sure Enable WPS is enabled and WPS Mode is set to PBC. 10. Select the Save option. Press WPS 2.4.G button (small black button in the back) once in the ONT. The camera will connect to ONT, and the blue LED will go off and you will see a solid green LED. 44 Nokia Smart Home user guide

45 13. Once the camera is detected by the system, it will be paired to the system, and you will be directed to the Confirm Device screen. 14. Next, select the Next option, and you will be directed to the Confirm Password screen. Figure From the Confirm Password screen, you will be prompted to enter a user name and password. 16. Select the Next option and you will be directed to the Assign Room screen. 17. From the Assign Room screen, you can select one of the existing rooms or create a new room by selecting the Custom option. Figure Nokia Smart Home user guide

46 18. Once you have assigned the camera to a room, you will be directed to the Name Device screen where you will be prompted to enter a unique name for your camera. 19. Select the Next option, and you will be directed to the WiFi Camera screen. Figure From the WiFi Camera screen, you will be able to view the newly added camera and the room it was assigned to. 21. 48 Chapter 3: View and control your Nokia Smart Home with the mobile app Home/Dashboard screen 1. After your initial login and setup of the system, the next time you login into the system, you will land on the Home/ Dashboard screen.
