Course Description This course provides an introduction to fundamental concepts in the design and implementation of computer communication networks, their protocols, and applications, with emphasis on the Internet. Topics to be covered include: overview of network architectures, applications, network programming, transport, congestion, routing, and data link protocols, addressing, local area networks, and some advanced topics. Course Website: QQ Group for problems in class:
Why we need to study computer networks Fundamental of many cool technologies: cloud computing, mobile computing, pervasive computing, IOT, VNET Mobile Internet + Big Data means: Higher work efficiency More jobs (for cser at least) Better user experience A new Revolution?
Concepts for Networks Communication Networks Telecommunication Networks Our course only covers the computer networks!!
Course Purpose To learn the principles of computer networking Protocol layers and their service models multiplexing/demultiplexing reliable data transfer flow control and congestion control routing (path selection) error detection, correction sharing a broadcast channel: multiple access link layer addressing
Course Purpose To learn Internet architecture and protocols To learn to use Internet protocols Programs using TCP sockets to communicate across an IP network Programs that act as clients using common Internet protocols like FTP, HTTP, and SMTP
Course Purpose To learn the principles of distributed system design To learn to build distributed applications using the most important current technical approaches Distributed objects to be managed by an object request broker (ORB) Distributed applications based on existing and new distributed objects managed by an ORB
Course Purpose To know the modern developments to the dynamic field of computer networking To understand not only today s networks but tomorrow s as well To do something you want to do on computer networking
