4 Models of traffic flows Macro-/mesoscopic models Based on partial differential equations. Fluid dynamical models consider a traffic flow as a compressible fluid (i.e., continuum models); macroscopic. Gas kinetic models consider a traffic flow as a manyparticle system; mesoscopic.
