3 Calls and Lines Service Overview Maintel provides a range of voice services for businesses, of which Calls and Lines is one. This document describes the Calls and Lines service, technical delivery method, constraints, service options, initial migration, in-life provisioning, in-life incident management, service levels, charges and billing and customer responsibilities. The Calls and Lines service comprises of two Product variables: Calls through Carrier Pre-Select (CPS) Line Rentals through Wholesale Line Rental (WLR) Calls Maintel s CPS service allows users to make outbound voice and data calls from a fixed PSTN (analogue) and ISDN 2 and 30 (digital) BT access line to any destination over the public telephony network. Maintel s CPS service is usually provided in conjunction with PSTN and ISDN 2 and 30 access lines, in which case the In-life Provisioning and Incident Management deliverables are identical to those for the PSTN and ISDN 2 and 30 access lines service. However, Maintel s CPS service may be provided without PSTN and ISDN 2 and 30 access lines (i.e. in conjunction with another provider s WLR3 service), in which case the deliverables are as set out below. Line Rentals Maintel's WLR service allows users access to the public telephony network in order to make and receive calls, and provides geographic telephone numbers within the national dial plan. The service covers PSTN and ISDN 2 and 30 access lines. Maintel's WLR service allows for the supply of one consolidated customer bill for calls and line rental. Maintel can transfer, newly connect, and reconfigure lines, while Openreach will provide, repair and maintain these lines Maintel maintel.co.uk 3
4 Calls Technical Delivery Method Outbound Calls are delivered over a public network selected by Maintel through our CPS service or through wholesale arrangements with BT. Once the CLI has been provisioned, all calls will be carried. The exceptions to this rule are Type A short codes (100, 999,112,192 etc), Type C (operator specific) short codes or the yyxxx and yyxxx number ranges used for un-metered Internet access by BT customers. Maintel s CPS service requires BT Openreach to configure the user s local exchange to automatically route the designated outbound call traffic from the relevant Maintel Line Rental services line to the selected public network. Constraints Calls cannot be delivered over non-bt (Openreach) lines. Some services offered by BT Openreach are not available on Maintel s CPS services: Social Telephony (e.g. Light User scheme) MSN individual CPS configuration for each CLI Public and managed payphones Inbound only CLI (e.g. Call Sign and By pass) Outbound Call Barring A customer who has CLIs with any of the below services cannot have Maintel s CPS service at any time on those CLIs while these services are used. These will be rejected as conflicting services: Subscriber Pulse Metering Internet for Schools BT Featurenet and BT Embark Service Options The customer may choose to bar certain destinations to users. 5 Initial Implementation / Migration See Line Rental. Provisioning See Line Rental. Support Services See Line Rental. Service Levels See Line Rental. Charges and Billing Calls are charged on a per-second basis according to the tariff for each specific destination and billed monthly in arrears. CONFIDENTIAL 2016 Maintel maintel.co.uk 5
6 Customer Responsibilities Initial Migration The customer must take responsibility for any existing contractual agreements with suppliers, including volume related discount schemes. The customer should make sure that Maintel are given accurate information about the lines on which call services are to be provided, including CLI and full postal address. In-life Provisioning The customer is responsible for authorising any requests for moves, adds, changes and deletions from the call services. If Maintel are advised in writing of the names of sole authorised representatives, then requests will be restricted accordingly; otherwise the customer should make sure that all requests made to Maintel are suitably approved. In-life Incident Management The customer should make sure that any incidents are reported promptly and accurately, and that appropriate checks are made on other aspects of their telephony network/system prior to reporting a fault to Maintel, where these aspects are not being managed by Maintel themselves Maintel maintel.co.uk 6
7 Line Rentals Service Overview This document sets out the content deliverables of the Maintel Line Rental services: Technical Delivery Method Maintel Line Rental services are provided to the local BT Openreach exchange through Wholesale Line Rental (WLR3). The following line types are available: PSTN (Analogue lines) Premium PSTN Single Line Premium PSTN Multi-Aux Line Basic PSTN Single Line ISDN 2e ISDN 2e System ISDN 2e Standard ISDN 30 ISDN 30e ISDN 30d (transfers only) Constraints Maintel can only provide services available through BT Openreach s WLR3 product set. The following lines are general exclusions and cannot be transferred to Maintel: Featurenet NHS lines Feature lines can be transferred to WLR 3. The transfer will remove the Featureline product and related services and convert the line to a standard PSTN. BT Classic payphone lines can be transferred to WLR3, as long as the line doesn't have the Incoming Calls Barred product on it. Service Options Maintel Line Rental services are normally provided alongside Maintel s CPS service, but alternative CPS options may be requested.
