8 EMC-1 Operation The EMC-1 connects easily to the MeterBus serial data port (RJ11) The controller appears as if it has Ethernet on board natively once connected. (EMC-1 becomes a transparent device) Controller can now be accessed using an IP address assigned to the product. Any standard IP network hardware can be used with the EMC-1, including cellular, Wi-Fi, point-to-point private networks or even satellite. The EMC is powered by a the MeterBus power connection, a universal DC power input or a combination of both.

Compatibility with a variety of 3rd party industrial networking equipment, SCADA and serial hardware interfaces.

12 Network Configuration Compatible with any IP network convention Easy setup using default IP address or using NetBIOS connection (to auto locate on your network) DHCP enabled by default for router assignment or also allows for a static IP configuration Subnet, DNS, and Gateway settings Primary and Secondary DNS Listening ports can be changed if needed to suit situation.

14 Morningstar Live View HTML based web page is viewable by any device s browser, even mobile devices. Real time display of most commonly used system values. These update in real time while page is open. Each product has it s own web page template to display features relevant to the product type. (PWM, MPPT, Load Control, etc.)

15 Morningstar Live View The EMC will display a web page that shows table of values from the controller s internal data logger. This will be daily values for of the last days of operation, depending on controller model. Faults and Alarms are displayed in detail when you move the mouse over the alert.

18 Modbus Compatibility - Timing Is Everything! Many serial devices on the market state that they convert serial communications to Ethernet. This can be misleading because many are designed for terminal servers (text displays) or backwards compatibility with older systems. Often they are serial emulators only and don t operate with 100% compatibility. It s important that a Modbus aware device is used in order to maintain the proper integrity of your data across the network. Morningstar s EMC is fully compatible with this protocol and converts Modbus serial to Modbus IP in the proper manner at the data packet level.
