2 Product Description This locally designed and manufactured NetShield auto-sensing media converter series provides media conversion between either 10Mbps twisted-pair copper media and 10Mbps () fibre media, or 100Mbps twisted-pair copper media and 100Mbps ( or ) fibre media. Table-top, industrial, nested card and external power supply units are available to suit all requirements. These units support conversion between the following standards: 10Base-T to 10Base- FL and 100Base-TX to 100Base-SX/FX The converters are available in multi- or single- ( or ), with either or fibre optic connectors. The twisted-pair connection consists of two RJ45 connectors, a direct (MDI) and a cross-over (MDI-X) connection. The table-top units are equipped with surge protection and a two metre 3-pin power cable, which fits into any standard South African power socket. With two standard versions of a 19-inch rack chassis available - six and 16 slot - the nested card versions are very space effective. The din rail mounted industrial units are powered from DC power supplies.
