Introduction Vertical Cloud Connect (VCC for short) is the cloud based service that enables many types of internet based communications centered around Vertical Communications Inc. s Wave phone system. VCC supports many businesses/customers in the same service, but each in their own domain (or address space ) that can support their associated Users. This document describes the administration of a VCC Domain using the VCC Domain Admin panel. Page 3
Prerequisites Wave System(s) 5.1 (5180) or Newer VPW Licenses per Wave Web Softphone Enabled per Wave User VCCG Virtual Machine(s) installed in network (see Appendix A ) Router/Firewall changes for VCCG (see Appendix A ) Glossary Administrator Domain User VCC VCCG/Gateway Wave A user associated with a domain that has administrative privileges to be able to enable different applications for different users, and other administrative functions. One VCC address space to support one business/customer/tenant using VCC with one or more VCC Gateway (VCCG) and one or more Wave(s), with Users registered and using VCC for Wave/Internet communications. VCC supports many separate domains. One registered Wave/VCC user who can login to a VCC domain and use VCC applications to connect to their associated Gateway(s) and Wave(s). Vertical Cloud Connect cloud based service supporting Wave/Internet communications. Vertical Cloud Connect Gateway, or Gateway for short. The on premise virtual machine (VM) connected inside customer s network to facilitate communications to the Wave(s) on that local/network segment. Vertical Communications phone system that is named Wave that has one or more phone Users connected to it that can be supported by VCC. Page 4
Getting Started Registration As a VCC customer, your company will be assigned its own domain, or VCC address space. For example, a company named Acme might get a domain allocated by the VCC administrators such as: acme.vappcenter.com A unique registration link will be sent to the customer. This same link will be used by all users associated with that customer. Note: The first user to register with the registration link is automatically created with administration rights, so they can control how it is configured, provision other users, etc. So make sure the correct administrator registers first, before sharing the registration link with any other regular users. Example registration link: acme.vappcenter.com/register/0b0d80fe ecfc f0e 511f13dfcbbe Note: This is only an example registration link, and will not work. Using the registration link in a browser will take you to a VCC web page where you enter a unique, working address to be used for this user on this domain. You must enter a valid working e mail address so you can receive a confirmation e mail and follow its link. Suggestion: You might want to consider creating a special address, like admin@acme.com to be your administrator account, if you want to separate VCC related e mail notifications from your personal traffic. Remember, it must be a working address that you can access and will see any messages sent to it. Page 5
Once you enter a valid address and two valid, matching passwords, you will see the following page instructing you to go look for the confirmation e mail to complete the registration process. Page 6
The confirmation will be from VappCenter < > and titled VCC E mail Confirmation, and look like below. Click on the Confirm your box/button to complete the process. You can then login to VCC for your domain. Login Enter the URL for your domain, which is something like yourdomain.vappcenter.com. Page 7
Application Selection If you have access to only one application, like the Admin Panel, or ViewPoint Web, you will go straight to that application. But if you have access to more than one application, you get a menu where you can choose. As the first user to register, you will have access to both Admin Panel and ViewPoint Web. Page 8
VCC Admin Panel Dashboard The home page of the VCC Admin panel is the Dashboard, and gives you a quick summary of your domain status: Page 9
Gateways Gateways are the VCCG (Vertical Cloud Connect Gateway) systems deployed as a VMWare virtual machine (VM) within the customer s network where it can communicate with the Wave system(s) it is to serve. Looking at the Gateways page, you can get a quick visual summary of all of your configured Gateways. Many customers will only have one, you can have more than one, but you MUST have at least one to use VCC. Each Gateway can serve one or more Waves. The Gateways should be located as close to the Wave systems as possible to provide the quickest network connection possible. Before you can add a Gateway to your VCC domain configuration, you must first install a VCCG Gateway virtual machine (VM) in your network to connect between VCC and your Wave system(s). See Appendix A VCCG Gateway Installation for instructions on installing the VCCG Gateway in your network. Page 10
Add Gateway To add a Gateway, click on the + Add Gateway button. Friendly Name You should enter a friendly name that helps you remember which Gateway is which (if you have more than one). External IP Address This is the IP address that WebRTC on the browser will use to connect to the gateway. Refer to the VCCG Image Deployment Guide for requirements about this public IP address, port forwarding from this address to the VCCG system, etc. By default, this IP Address is automatically detected each time the gateway connects to VCC. If you use asymmetric routing (outbound/inbound IP address is different), then you must manually set the IP address. Generate Pairing Code in order to pair a Gateway to VCC, you need to get a Pairing Code from the VCC Admin. Page 11
Add Gateway Generate Pairing Code Pending Pairing Take this Pairing Code and cut/paste, or just type it into your VCCG console in order to pair that Gateway to VCC. Note: See the VCCG Image Installation Guide for how to enter this Pairing code into the VCCG Console. Delete Gateway If you want to delete a Gateway, click on Edit, and then click on Delete VCCG. Page 12
Wave Systems Wave systems are the Vertical Communication phone systems that customer phone devices are connected to. This can be desk phones (digital, analog or sip), soft sip phones, mobile phones, and now with VCC, web sip phones (and much more!) Looking at the Waves page, you can get a quick visual summary of all your configured Wave systems. Many customers will have only one, you can have more than one, but you MUST have one to use VCC. Each Wave is connected to only one Gateway. Usually the Wave will be geographically near the Gateway, or at least have a good fast network connection between the Wave and the Gateway. Page 13
Add Wave System To add a Wave, click on the + Add Wave button. You should enter a friendly name that helps you remember which Wave is which (if you have more than one). Gateway you must pick one of your configured Gateways for the new Wave to be paired with. Generate Pairing Code in order to pair a Wave to your selected Gateway, you need to get a Pairing Code from the VCC Admin. Page 14
Add Wave System Generate Pairing Code Pending Pairing Take this and cut/paste, or just type it into your Wave s GlobalAdministrator General Settings Vertical Cloud Connect page in order to pair that Wave to the selected Gateway and VCC. 16 Delete Wave System If you want to delete a Wave, click on Edit, and then click on Delete Wave. Note, you need to Unpair the Wave from a Gateway first, if it is paired. Page 16

Appendix A VCCG Gateway Installation Overview This document outlines the step to take a clean VCCG OVA image and deploy it into a Vertical Cloud Connect environment. An summary of the steps are as follows: 1. Check requirements 2. Download OVA 3. Deploy OVA 4. Set IP address 5. Pair to VCC system 6. Link to Wave Requirements Access to the OVA file. An existing ESXi virtual machine server with adequate resources available capable of deploying an OVA generated by ESXi A static internal IP address for VCCG. External IP with UDP ports forwarded to the VCCG IP address above. The VCCG and Wave being on connected networks so they can PING each other. The VCCG system has a defined resource allocation of: Memory: 1gig Disk Size: 3gig CPU: 2 cores Network: One NIC; VMXNET 3 Download OVA The OVA file for VCCG is about meg. You can download it from Vertical Connect. (Waiting on PM:Praveen to provide location for this image.) Page 19
Deploy OVA Template You will need to log into your ESXi management console in order to deploy the VCCG OVA template. Your ESXi management system could be different, but the typical steps involve selecting File Deploy OVF Template. Continue through the wizard providing values as needed. After OVA deployment, the virtual machine start the new virtual machine. Select to view the primary console of the VM. After the system boots, you should see this screen: Page 20
Setting the IP Address The first step is to set the IP address of the box to an IP address that is local to your network, has visibility to your Wave system and can have the UDP ports forwarded to it. Press 1 to Change IP Address Settings. You will need to know your Subnet Mask, Gateway server and the DNS Server addresses. Page 21
Pairing to a VCC System Note: some of this is redundant to the section on Gateways and Waves Pairing a VCCG system to a VCC system has two steps. The first step is to acquire the pairing code. If you are an end user, this will be provided for you (see Step 1a). If you are a Vertical installation technician, see Step 1b. Step 1a : Contact your VCC support representative and request a new VCCG system to be added. They will provide you a new pairing code. You will need to provide a descriptive name of the system that is being added. Step 1b : From the VCC admin, you will need to add a new VCCG system and then generate a pairing code. Go to the VCC Admins screen and select Gateways from the top menu. Then click on the + Add Gateway button on the top right. Enter a new friendly name and click Add. If your VCCG gateway will need to be configured with a External IP address that is not the same as it s detectable external IP address, you would also enter that. After creating the new Gateway, select to Edit it and then click Generate Pairing Code Page 22
Copy this 8 digit code down for the next step. Step 2: Go back to the vcc console on the VCCG vm and select to 2. Pair Gateway and enter the pairing code. This step is fairly straightforward for all end users who are pairing the system to a production VCC system. If you are a end user running on a production system, then just enter the 8 digit pairing code nothing else. 6ZXBCT7H Development and Testing Only For deployments against internal testing and development VCC systems, the pairing code must be appended with a domain. If you are pairing to a development or test VCC system like dev1.vappcenter.com, you will need to add that domain to the pairing code. As an example, to pair the above code to the VCC domain of dev1.vappcenter.com you would enter the pairing code as: 6ZXBCT7H@dev1.vappcenter.com But leave off any tenant information such as vpqa or vccdev or vpwdev. Page 23
Link to Wave Once the VCCG has paired, if you are an end user you will need to have installation services connect to your Wave. If you are installation services, back on the VCC admin, you will want to connect the VCCG to a particular Wave. Go into the Waves and then select to Edit the Wave that you want to connect to your new VCCG system. Select it and click Save Page 24
