PERFORM BEYOND EXPECTATIONS. THE PREMIER SHOWCASE FOR FIBER TECHNOLOGY
FIBER OPTICS RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Photon Kinetics Ultra Short Pulsed Differential Mode Delay (DMD) Measurement System The DMD system measures the effects of light propogation over a fiber and converts the measurements into DMD and modal bandwidth. It works by shooting an ultra-short laser pulse across different positions of the fiber, then measuring the time delay between the different pulses to calculate the differential mode delay and effective modal bandwidth. Berk-Tek uses the DMD measurement to ensure all our fiber materials and finished products comply with our specifications, ultimately to ensure that we are providing what the customer requires. The DMD measurement unit is also used to measure the effect of different parameters like cabling, external force, connector misalignment on the bandwidth of the fiber. DMD Measurement System WORLD CLASS CAPABILITIES IXIA G Network Tester This equipment performs end-to-end system level testing of both the active and passive components, as well as BER testing and fully loaded real-life network load testing. This tester creates real Ethernet traffic to emulate reallife networking equipment, and passes it over the system under test (can be a transceiver, cable, networking software or an application). Berk-Tek uses the network tester to quantify real-life product performance and understand the limits of current technology. IXIA Network Tester Berk-Tek Opto-Electronics Test Station This station consists of several components that measure various parameters of optical and copper transceivers. It includes a high-resolution optical spectrum analyzer, a high-speed digital communication signal analyzer, and a network signal generator and detector. The spectrum analyzer is used to measure the fidelity of the lasers, such as wavelength tolerance and spectral width. The communication signal analyzers perform eye diagram analysis, which helps us understand power budgets. Berk-Tek uses this test station to develop enhanced optical transceivers and to create Own the Link power budget calculations. 2 The TEK Center Opto-Electronics Test Station
THE TEK CENTER At Berk-Tek, we know that selecting the right network infrastructure is a critically important decision. In this fast changing industry, making the right decision now can pay big dividends later. But how can you know what s really right for you if you can t see it,touch it and feel it. That s why Berk-Tek built The TEK Center, a cutting edge facility where you can evaluate options firsthand and work with Berk-Tek engineers to spec a costeffective system that will pay big dividends for years to come. At Berk-Tek, our #1 priority is to help our customers maximize their success. We can work with you to test different options you are considering. Want to see how different cables perform when subjected to certain levels of stress? Want to evaluate different options for your data center migration path? There are any number of different scenarios we could work with you on to give you the information you need to make the right decision. 3 The TEK Center
ENTERPRISE As we transition from 1 gigabit (Gbps) drops to the wall outlet, to 10 Gbps ceiling drops to support wireless access points (WAPs), the building backbone has to support a 10X increase in IP traffic. The enterprise showcase allows our visitors to see and understand what the next generation wirelss systems will demand in terms of bandwidth Additionally, visitors will be able to see examples of IP video with HDBaseT, IP controlled lighting, sound, and secrutiy cameras, and many other applications. When you see first-hand what the future of IP will look like, you begin to really understand how much more IP traffic will be flowing back to fiber backbones. This is exactly why Berk-Tek has invested so much into our world-class fiber optic development capabilities. 4 The TEK Center
DATA CENTER The TEK Center features a working data center with several network architectures on display. You ll have the opportunity to touch, feel and experience different infrastructures and topologies. You will see different migration paths from 1G to 10G to 40G to 100G and beyond, and how you can condense more fibers (or copper) into smaller and smaller footprints using Berk-Tek s Micro Datacenter Plenum (MDP) fiber optic cable or our TekPatch Mini-6 28 AWG patch cable. We can customize our demo area to preview how different network infrastructures could work for you. Some examples of how include: Top of Rack (ToR) and End of Row (EoR) Above Rack and Raised Floor Migration paths from 1G to 100G and beyond High, medium, and low density solutions 5 The TEK Center
