2 Stations 2 IAC s Station is a completely adjustable system of modular components for creating an attractive, clutter-free environment for computer equipment. Beginning with a basic starter unit a sturdy worksurface with two uprights you choose add-on sections, shelves for monitors, lower CPU shelves, cabinets, and other station accessories to confi gure an integrated workspace that can be expanded as your network grows.

3 3 The Station accommodates all sizes and types of servers, monitors, power supplies, computer enclosures, and other peripherals. From the smallest to the largest network, the Station will organize and protect your company s investment in network equipment for years to come, while saving space and giving technicians easy access for quick change-outs, add-ons, and repairs.

4 Station Top-of-the-Line Flexibility 4 Cable clutter is hidden in a rear-mounted enclosure that has a bottom-hinged cover and top-mounted handles. Excess cables feed through the top and sides of the enclosure. system s sit/stand worksurfaces and overhead shelves can be set at any height desired. This is possible because both shelves and worksurfaces attach directly to the station s uprights via a vertical support channel that is engineered of extruded aluminum. Stations bring IAC Industries ergonomic and productivity based designs off the production fl oor and into the computer room and offi ce environment. If your center, like most, includes CPUs, monitors, power conditioners, and peripherals of all makes and sizes, you ll appreciate the wide choice of worksurface and shelving sizes that are available for the Station. A Completely Adjustable, Integrated System The Station has been designed to meet the special support furniture requirements of network system administrators. Unlike other types of support frame attachment systems that limit shelf and worksurface height adjustability to one-or two-inch increments, this The unique design of this channel provides secure, load-bearing attachment points at any height desired. The system s overhead shelves, worksurfaces, lower CPU shelves, electrical outlet channels, overhead light fi xtures, and swing arm-mounted monitor platforms all mount in this support groove. Stylish front-offi ce appearance combines with functional design in a system that can be arranged customized, and rearranged over the years to maximize your workspace even as your network grows. Convenient and Accessible Cable Management Both standard starter units and add-on sections of the Station include sturdy plastic cable ducts attached to the rear of the vertical uprights and anywhere horizontally on the rear modesty panel. The unique hinged design of these cable ducts allows technicians to organize cables and power cords neatly, while keeping them accessible. For ultimate fl exibility, users can select the horizontal channel s attachment point to the modesty panel.

5 Station Cable duct sections are individually hinged, allowing quick access. Evenly spaced cut-outs maintain orderly cable feed both horizontally and vertically to servers, monitors, power conditioners, and other peripherals. 5 An optional rear-mounted Cable Management Enclosure holds excess power cords and cables as well as connectors that are too large to fi t inside the cable ducts. Attached to the back of the modesty panel, this enclosure has plenty of room to accommodate a large amount of cable in its horizontal wire troughs. The Cable Management Enclosure opens and closes using a gas-cylinder that allows hands-free access to the cabling inside from both sides and from the top. Station Power Options Can Be Built into Uprights Direct, safe access to electrical power via plug-in receptacles on the Station s vertical uprights is an option. Users can select either IAC s Standard Electrical System (SES) or Power Distribution System (PDS). The PDS confi guration provides three separate 20 amp electrical circuits within a station for independently operated electrical equipment. See page 6 for details. The SES confi guration provides one 15 amp circuit interconnected between the uprights of one station. See page 8 for details. Pull-out lower CPU shelf is mounted to the bottom supports of the uprights and glides smoothly on metal roller bearing full-extension slides. Optional cable carriers route cables and wiring to the horizontal cable duct at the rear of the station to eliminate tangling as the shelf moves in and out. Tilt-adjustable wire keyboard holders attach to shelves and to swing-arm mounted monitor platforms. Stackable, slide-out keyboard holders attach to the bottom of the worksurface. They can be mounted to each other, allowing double, triple or more configurations.

6 Station PDS Electrical Upgrade 6 Power Distribution System (PDS) Advantages PDS and Station workstations with PDS are UL tested for structure and safety. They are listed under Furniture UL 1286, File #E PDS is cost-effective. The only effort required by an electrician is to connect the power up cable to the power source, thereby reducing installation costs. PDS accommodates both single and double-sided stations. PDS receptacles are located on the inside and outside of the uprights for accessibility. PDS receptacles are flush with the uprights to facilitate accessory clearance. Receptacles snap in and out to accommodate changing electrical requirements. Redistribution of electrical usage can be accomplished by simply exchanging numbered receptacles for access to a different numbered circuit. PDS is easily expandable as workstation and facility requirements grow. PDS Components PDS contains the following components (see Figure 1): The unique PDS supplies three separate 20 amp electrical circuits within a workstation or workstation grouping for independently operated electrical equipment. Pass-Through Blocks are the power distribution blocks located in the uprights to which the receptacles, power-ups and interconnects are connected. Pass-through blocks contain a universal connector pattern that acts as an electrical switchboard for all three circuits. The upright has two pass-through blocks; the, and 84 uprights each have three. PDS Duplex Receptacles contain two standard 15 amp 3-prong outlets. There are three different receptacles. Each is designated with the number 1, 2 or 3, and each has a unique connector pattern that provides the appropriate connection for the designated circuit. All duplex receptacles work in any pass-through block. The PDS Power-up Cable is hard wired to the facility power as required to supply power to a bench or group of benches. IAC recommends having a qualifi ed electrician make all electrical connections. After the power-up cable is connected to the power source, it is plugged into any available pass-through block. Normally, the pass-through block at the top of the upright is used for power-up cables dropped from the ceiling, and the pass-through block at the bottom of the upright is used for fl oor or wall power. Power-up cable is ordered separately, and is required for PDS use.

7 Station PDS Interconnect Cables are used to connect the circuitry in one upright to the circuitry in another upright within a workstation, running under the worksurface. Each standard PDS starter unit and add-on unit includes its own interconnect cable. Separate interconnect cables must be ordered for corner confi gurations. PDS Duplex 7 Bezel plates are decorative cover plates, which are placed around the outside of the receptacles and are attached to the upright trim panel. Planning Considerations When planning in-line stations, amperage requirements must be calculated and proximity to power sources considered before determining what PDS components are needed. 8 Station SES Electrical Upgrade Standard Electrical System (SES) 8 SES supplies a single 15 amp electrical circuit in the uprights of a single or double-sided workstation. SES is pre-wired at the factory to eliminate the time and cost of on-site hard wiring. The advantage of SES is that the workstation is pre-wired with duplex receptacles in the uprights for ease of access. SES Components SES incorporates the following components (see Figure 2). Receptacles: Both uprights of a Station starter unit with SES have standard 15 amp electrical receptacles (outlets) on the inside trim panel. The SES system includes four receptacles (in two duplexes) on the inside metal trim panel for upright heights of, and 84. Uprights measuring have two receptacles (in one duplex) on each inside metal trim panel. The outside trim panel is laminate. For add-on uprights of, and 84, there are four duplexes (two on each side of the upright in the metal trim panels) providing a total of eight 15 amp receptacle outlets. When an add-on unit is installed, this is used as the middle upright. The uprights from the starter unit are moved to the outside positions of the in-line confi guration. Note: Outside upright trim panels have no receptacles and are laminate, not metal. SES receptacles protrude slightly, which must be taken into consideration when planning accessory addition placement. 9 Station Connectors: The right upright of a starter unit has a pre-wired connector to accept the power cord and the interconnect cord. The left upright has a connector for the other end of the interconnect cord. Interconnect cords: The interconnect cord is used to connect the circuit in one upright to the circuit in another upright within a single workstation, running under the worksurface. Interconnects are included with starter and add-on SES benches. Power cords: The power cord is fi rst plugged into the upright, then into the power source. No wiring is required. Power cords are included with starter and add-on SES benches. Each SES starter and add-on bench includes its own 8-foot power cord. Individual SES benches cannot be interconnected. Assembling SES Starter and Add-on Uprights: Assembly is a 4-step process: 1. Make sure that the circuit breaker/ pilot light switch is OFF. Plug the interconnect cord into the prewired connector in both uprights. 2. Plug the power cord into the prewired connector in the upright 3. Plug the power cord into the power source. 4. Turn the circuit breaker pilot light switch on. 10 Station Paint Selection Powder Coat Paint 10 IAC workstations feature state-of-the-art, electrostatic, powder coat paint fi nishes. Applied in our factory, these fi nishes are oven-baked to enhance color consistency and durability. Compared to typical spray paint fi nishes, IAC powder coat paint is far more resistant to chipping, fl aking and peeling. ESD paint is available on request. Please consult the factory. Notes: 1. Rust inhibitor undercoat is recommended for overseas shipments. Please consult the factory. 2. 12 Station Selection Worksurface Specifications 12 All worksurfaces are laminated over 1-3/16 industrial grade particle board. Worksurfaces when laminated are impact resistant. Worksurfaces have pre-drilled metal inserts for ease of assembly. All worksurfaces include 180 degree rolled front edge. All ESD Worksurfaces include an ESD grounding kit. Standard s IAC uses only high pressure postforming horizontal grade laminates. All laminates are chemical resistant and comply with federal specifications governing impact, abrasion, and chemical resistance (FED Spec-L-P-508H). Chemical resistant and Laboratory Grade s are available, please consult the factory. 14 Station Ordering Assistance 14 1 Product Selection 1. Select starter or add-on Station based on your requirements. 2. Choose a part number based on size and worksurface type. 3. Choose accessories to be included on selected Station. 4. Choose a Basic Paint color. This color, in addition to the main Station structure, will be used on any optional drawer or cabinet cases and faces unless otherwise specifi ed. See paint color selection on page Select a worksurface color noting that Standard and ESD laminate have separate color choices and codes. Each peninsula worksurface includes a set of support brackets, a modesty panel, one horizontal wire management channel and an adjustable support leg. Peninsulas fi t between Station starter units. The telescoping support leg provides infi nite adjustment for the worksurface height, ranging 23 to 41. Peninsula worksurfaces will support 250 lbs. evenly distributed. Width Standard ESD

23 Station Corner Worksurface Assemblies Corner Worksurfaces are designed to provide work and storage space for L, U, T, or Cross shaped stations. They are constructed of high-density particle board with standard or ESD protective high-pressure laminate bonded to it using contact cement. Corner tops are available with 12, 6 and 1 offsets; radius and square backs. Corner worksurface assemblies include the worksurface, a set of mounting brackets, and an adjustable rear support leg for all 12 offset and square back corners. 24 Station Shelving Basic Shelf 24 standard shelves adjust up and down on the station s vertical uprights, forward and backward on the mounting brackets, and tilt forward to a maximum of 15. They are constructed of heavy gauge steel, powder coat painted, have a 1/2 front lip and the top surface is covered with standard or ESD high pressure laminate. shelving is rated at 150 lbs. evenly distributed weight Standard ESD Shelf with Electrical shelves with electrical outlets conveniently located under the back edge of the shelf body. This electrical service is 125 VAC 15 amp rated and comes with an 8 ft. grounded power cord and 15 amp circuit breaker switch combination. All other shelf specifi cations apply. Outlets s Standard ESD Lower Pull-Out CPU Shelf The Pull-Out CPU shelves are designed for easy access to components and their cable connections. They are 18 deep and are mounted to heavy-duty ball bearing slides attached to the station uprights. They are constructed of heavy gauge steel, powder coat painted, featuring convenient handle pulls, and are rated at 150 lbs. evenly distributed weight. IAC recommends ordering Cable Carrier Kit when purchasing this shelf. 25 Station Corner Shelving Corner Shelves are designed to provide extra storage space above Corner Worksurfaces of L shaped stations. They are constructed of high-density particle board with standard or ESD high-pressure laminate bonded to it using contact cement. Corner shelves are available with 12, 6 and 1 offsets and radius and square backs. Corner shelf assemblies include the shelf surface, a set of mounting brackets, and an adjustable rear support leg for all 12 offset and square back shelves. 26 Station Accessories Suspended CRT Platform 26 Supports 15 Monitors 28 lbs. Max. Combines with Keyboard Holder (P/N , at right) to keep worksurface uncluttered The Hanging CRT Platforms are designed to suspend a standard 15 monitor above the worksurface of a Station for better space utilization. These platforms can be mounted anywhere along the Station vertical uprights and will swivel as much as the cords will allow. Total weight capacity is 28 lbs. The Articulating Keyboard Holder, shown at right, will mount to the bottom of the platform Pull-Out Rotating CPU Holder Accommodates Most CPU Types 28 lbs. Max. Mounts Underneath Worksurface The Pull-Out-Rotating CPU holder accommodates most all CPU types and sizes. It pulls out 12 on roller bearing slides and rotates in either direction as far as clearance and connectors allow. 27 Station Articulating Keyboard Holder This keyboard holder mounts to the bottom of standard IAC Swing Arm CRT platforms or Station worksurfaces. It adjusts forward and back, up and down and comes complete with an adjustable padded wrist rest. 31 Station Horizontal Wire Management Channel The Horizontal Wire Management Channel consists of an enclosed plastic channel with 1 wide 1.75 deep cutouts on 5 centers and fl ap type doors that snap open and close by squeezing the sides of the channel. These channels can be adjusted along the vertical channels for positioning under shelving and other accessories. This channel is required with a Lower CPU Shelf when Cable Carrier Kits are used; see below. Mounting brackets (supplied) attach the horizontal channel to the vertical channels on Station uprights Cable Management Enclosure The Cable Management Enclosure is attached to the back of the modesty panel and runs the length of a Station. It is a metal enclosure 2.75 deep by 13 tall that is hinged at the bottom so it can be pulled open for easy access to cables, connectors and other components. Wire management trough angles are attached to the Station modesty panel as ledges to help hold large quantities of cabling. A gas cylinder makes opening and closing the enclosure easy Note: This is an upgrade for new stations. Consult factory for retro-fit. Closed Open 110 Max. Cable Carrier Kit Cable Carrier Kits are designed to organize cables at the rear of the Lower CPU Pull-Out Shelf. Cables are attached to the hinged angles with wire ties to eliminate possible damage when the shelf is being moved backwards and forwards. Direct overhead and high output/direct overhead models. All light fi xtures are UL Listed and include an electronic ballast which operates cooler and more effi ciently.
