3 1. Product Summary Remote Power Management and Monitoring System IT Administrator and Remote Power Management System Remote Power Management System has been widely used in many countries. But it is rather new in Korea. The duty of IT Administrator is monitoring and controlling the trouble of the devices they use to provide reliable service for 24 hours 365 days. But problems supposed to happen any time and power-related problems also frequently occur and they cause communication and security problems. Now power management became essential part for IT administrator who uses sophisticated devices in remote places and operates them in unmanned system. Most of power problems are handled by preventive check-up. But accidents happen sometimes from the indifference of IT administrator regarding power. IT administrator today should be a semi-professional in electricity regarding the devices they operate. They should not totally depend on the electricians. Remote Power Management System is and important system for IT administrators. It provides needed data regarding power to IT administrators and enables them to monitor and manage devices remotely. < Major elements of power management needed for IT administrator> -. 4 1. Product Summary What is Remote Power Management System? This system is used to minimize the power-related trouble caused by user mistake. It enables IT administrator to monitor, manage, and control the power of remote devices on the network. This has been widely used in countries in North America and West Europe. IT administrator reboots the remote device to handle the trouble immediately when there is power problem or network problem without the help from facility manager or electricians. It also monitors input/output power status, current amount, temperature, humidity, and vibration level. It also provides additional management features such as alarming to protect damage when there is overload. < Remote power management features for IT administrator > 1) General PDU (Power Distribution Unit) feature : Power distribution and protection feature Power monitoring and status report feature Remote rebooting and management It provides power to high capacity devices without using a multi-outlet line. It has a built-in surge protector and it is safer than using a multi-outlet line. 2) Internal branch circuit : It minimizes the damage when a circuit is shorted. 3) Power-up Sequencing feature : When it turns on many devices, it turns them on one by one giving enough time between devices. 1) Real-time monitoring of normal input/output power and consumed current: Plan for the whole rack system is possible. 2) Alarming goes to higher level system such as MMS when it exceeds the critical current value set by using SNMP Trap to protect damage caused by overload. 3) Temperature monitoring feature is added recently to protect damage from high temperature. 4) Building analysis system from on-line monitoring and systemizing the maintenance of facility. 1) This recovers the system fast through power rebooting of the device remotely. 2) You can turn on/off or reboot in the order and can control the power of devices all together when needed. 3) Supports IP/RS232 for networking

It is a power controller of Remote Power Management System taking advantage of network and internet technology. It distributes power to the devices connected to SPC and protects them. It minimizes power-related troubles. It can monitor and control power remotely on the network. It saves the monitoring data in the PC as you make a setting.

Control screen 1) You need ID and Password to use power control mode. 2) The picture on the right below shows the state when the mouse is clicked to turn off the power.

PC control : ON OFF Local N/W Monitoring Power Connection Power OFF Target PC SPC administrator SPC administrator gives command of Power Control (OFF) IPC to the PC to power off. 2 SPC sends Power Control command to the PC. The reception program in the PC automatically shuts down the system. (IPC reception S/W should be installed in the PC.) 3 SPC checks the shutdown status of the system. 4 If the PC does not answer, SPC disconnects the power of the PC. PC OFF ON : PC user turns on the power.

13 4. Product advantage and major features 6. Alarm feature A. Users can set the alarming for excessive current and temperature for each channel. B. Alarming can go to higher level system such as SMS and MMS or to landline/mobile phones.

It happened several years ago that there was a blackout in IDC and when the power came back, all the devices turned on at the same time. That caused 2-3 times of in-rush current, which caused the whole system down and damaged many devices. You can control remotely when you boot many devices. 9. Other features A. Display SPC status: It displays SPC status using LCD or LED outside. B. Auto Booting: You can boot automatically using Auto Ping. C. Module-based: You can add additional modules for other controls(temperature, humidity, etc.) D. Multi-connection: You can control up to 175 devices with one IP. You can connect using RS232. So you can monitor and control many devices concurrently with one IP. E. Support for different type IP: Static IP, Dynamic IP (DHCP) F. Remote controller: You can use a remote controller after you install it on the rack. G. Security: It is password-protected. Only the administrator with authority can control and other administrators can only check the status. H. You can link with your mobile phone or PDA using WIFI network. I.
