4 Operation safety The TA device was designed for operation safety along with the PN-EN class standard. The device does not have an installed disconnecting system unit, which should be installed outside the device. In case of a DC power supply to the device, an easily accessible disconnecting system should be installed in the fixed wiring outside the device. Radiation emitted by a laser transmitter is harmful to the eyesight! LASER EQUIPMENT CLASS 1 You must not look at an uncovered socket where no optic-fiber joint is connected. The producer is not liable for such use of the device that would not comply with the operation manual. The operation manual is an integral part of the device and is provided to users with the device. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS The Intended Use of Device The TA-110 is a device used for point-point connections with optic fiber and equipped with an interface compatible with the AUDIO and CAN standards. The converter can also operate in a closed bus configuration so-called ring with protection (in case of damage to one of the optic fiber connectors, transmission is switched to an alternative optic fiber path). The ring connection is possible even for only two devices, thus there is a chance to transmit data with point-point protection. Specific versions of the device make it possible for the connection to use two fibers of a single-mode or multi-mode optic fiber, or one fiber of a single-mode optic fiber in the WDM technology. The TA-110 converter gives possibility of connection devices, which are from PLENA system with LBB1990/00 controller. This devices is a bridge between controller and: - call station LBB 1956/00, - router LBB 1992/00, - Remote Control Panel (RCP) RCP LBB 1995/00. Replacing an electric transmission medium with an optic fiber path provides for extending the scope of transmission and eliminating the effect of such disturbing interactions as: electromagnetic field, stray currents, ground potential differences, etc. The TA-110 is equipped with OUTPUT and INPUT relays which are used to alarm control from far location 1.2. 10 2. INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE 2.1. Operating Conditions The devices can work continuously in closed rooms in conditions agree with point 5.3 of Operation Manual. They should not be exposed to direct sunbeams. It is unacceptable to clog ventilation holes Power Supply The modem is supplied with V DC, without mandatory maintaining polarization on the supply connection. The exception is converter connected to the call station, which has an accelerating voltage of 24 V DC converter collected through RJ-45 jack. In this case the converter should be operated only 24 V DC voltage. A correct power supply may be supplied with devices. The converter is powered by a constant voltage of V DC without the necessary to keep polarity on power connector. Power supply should be connected to the jack with external bolted clamps. Earth should be connected to the earth clamp on the housing. The earth wire should be of low impedance type for high frequencies. Proper power supply is signaled with a green LED lit on the front panel of the device. The manufacturer does not recommend using impulse power supply units, as they may not conform to electromagnetic compatibility standard.! The device is not provided with an integrated tripping system. Therefore, an easily available tripping system should be mounted in fixed cabling. IOA March 2009

11 2.3. Description of connectors RJ-45 connector RJ-45 sockets of the TA-110 converter is adjusted for connecting to the controller, call station and remote control panel. The interface is used for local communication. The converter should be connected with a cat. 5 twisted wire, of which the impedance of twisted wire pairs is 100 Ω. Connecting cable plugs should be terminated in the same way on both ends, twisted pair colors must be clamped on the same relevant pins in case of straight cable Optical interface The fiber optic converter can work with a fiber optical line comprising: 50/125 or 62,5/125 µm multi-mode wires - with SC/PC connectors at the ends; 9/125 µm single-mode wires also ended by SC/PC connectors (the use of connectors with angular ends is inadmissible they are generally marked APC). Optical interface B of the first converter should be connected to interface A the next converter in fiber bus. (Figure 2-2). IOA March 2009

Fiber optic connection. Please remember that the fiber optical line connected from one side to the optical transmitter - should be connected to the receiver from the other side. This fact will be indicated by the green diode "LOS", which will switch on Input/output relays The TA-110 converter is equipped with inputs and outputs relay. First relays connector sending alarm signal about itself state like lost of optical signal and lost communication with remote device. The others like second and third sending alarm signals from the router site and call station site to the controller. Relays connectors are made of screwed connectors, which have three different signs. The C - means common, the NC normal close and the NO normal open.
