3 UAC 76B APPLICATION NOTE KITS/BOARDS JP should be closed for bus-powered operation. If JP is closed, do not attach a power supply to the power connector (7. V DC). For self-powered operation, open JP and attach a DC V power supply to the power connector (7. V DC). USB Audio Codec. Introduction Standard Application Board V 006 The standard application board is intended for the evaluation of the UAC 7xB 6 IC family, referred to as eval board. It allows access to all the features one can use. The eval board is prepared for self-powered as well as for bus-powered operation. It can function as a stand-alone unit or can be hooked up with other systems via digital interfaces. J7, J8, J9 should be in the upper position for capless outputs. J should be in the lower position for USB suspend enable.. Attach audio equipment to the following connectors P (Left In), P (Right In): Line input PK (Left In), PK (Right In): Microphone input.. Quick Start The eval board works with Windows 98, ME, 000, XP; Mac OS 9 and OS Panther (with the latest fixes by Apple ). It is easy to hook it up for first evaluation of the sound features.. The configuration of the newly received board should be as follows: JP, JP6, JP7 should be left open. J, J6 should be in the (lower) position (CE, CE) PK (HP): Headphone output in parallel Left Out Right Out.. Attach the eval board to the computer host port with a USB cable. If prompted for drivers, let the operating system search and install standard drivers (e.g., Windows 98 asks for drivers up to three times).. Play or record sounds. With Windows operating systems, these inputs and outputs can be controlled with the standard mixer tool. 4 UAC 76B APPLICATION NOTE KITS/BOARDS Left Out: RCA connector, contains analog left out and analog ground. Connected parallel to HP... LED The red LED is on during normal operation of the IC. In the suspend mode It gets turned off. With JP0 closed, the Yellow-LED is connected to GPIO 8 for one s own use as status indicator.. Connectivity The evaluation board has the following connectors: USB: USB Type B receptacle, connects the eval board to a PC with a standard USB cable P9: DIL 0-pin right-angle connector, for connecting the GPIOs to external hardware, e.g., switches, LEDs, etc. Contains GPIOs, status signals, reset and IC communication line PI (IS Out): DIL 0-pin right-angle connector, for connecting external DSPs or a second DAC. Contains IS out lines as well as an oversampling clock for external DACs (Word strobe, Clock, Data, MCLK). Word strobe and data are shared with PI PI (IS In): DIL 0-pin right-angle connector, for connecting external DSPs. Contains IS IN lines (Word strobe, Clock, Data). Word strobe and Data are shared with PI. HP Right Out: RCA connector, contains analog right out and analog ground. Connected parallel to HP. HP:. mm headphone connector, contains analog left and right out and analog ground. A standard headphone could be connected here. Connected parallel to Left Out and Right Out. Mic Left:. mm headphone connector, contains analog microphone in, and microphone bias A standard microphone could be connected here. Mic Right:. mm headphone connector, contains analog microphone in, and microphone bias A standard microphone could be connected here. Left In: RCA connector, contains analog left input and analog ground Right In: RCA connector, contains analog right input and analog ground 7. V DC: power connector, Power input. 7. Volt on the center connection, outside connection ground. PI (Burst IS Out): DIL 0-pin right-angle connector, for connecting external DSPs. Burst mode for data from the USB-Bus. The function is okay. R7 and R9 have to connect to Out Rev GND and not to.
