2 Overfill Prevention Controller EUS-2 According to European VOC Directive 94/63/EC and American API RP 1004 on overfill prevention systems for bottomloading tank trucks. As stationary part of the Overfill Prevention System for liquid fuels, the explosion proof control device type EUS-2 complies with the requirements on overfill prevention systems for bottom-loading tank trucks according to Annex IV of VOC-Directive 94/63/EC as well as API RP Timm Elektronik has combined its vast experience in overfill prevention and grounding control in the new overfill prevention control device type EUS-2 - available by a standard plug and socket connector. The level sensors are positioned in such a way that they trigger the shut-off of the product flow for all compartments via the stationary gantry controller right in time to prevent an overfilling. Level sensors, cable and connectors are specified by EN and API RP When being connected to a tank truck, the control device automatically detects the type of level sensors (five-wire/two-wire sensors) as well as the type of grounding and activates the required operating mode. The control device permanently verifies the correct grounding of the truck via the connection cable. The preset limit value of this verification can be set according to individual requirements exceeding EN requirements. Bottom loading filling with overfill prevention control by Timm Elektronik control device type EUS-2 1 Functional Principle To enable a safe filling process, the overfill prevention control device EUS-2 provides three main functions: Overfill prevention Grounding verification Vapor recovery monitoring During loading of tank trucks, the level sensors at the tank truck (one sensor per tank compartment) are connected to the control device EUS-2 at the filling gantry by The vapour recovery hose connection is monitored on the tank truck side via a pneumatic-controlled interlock switch, which is looped into the grounding verification line or alternatively into the circuit of the level sensors. As a result, the control device EUS-2 ensures that filling is only possible if the vapour recovery system and the grounding line are connected properly. 1 Date: 04 Dec 2013 / Version 1.1
3 2 Special Features 2.1 Compliance to European and American Standard The EUS-2 control device is designed in full compliance with the newest editions of European standards as well as with American API RP Thus, the full compatibility to corresponding truck equipment and level sensors of other manufacturers for worldwide operation is ensured. The device automatically detects the connected plug and socket configuration (EN or API RP 1004) and switches to corresponding operational mode. With the offered disconnector socket, cables with plugs for the different receptacles can easily get exchanged or even connected to the control device at once. 2.3 High Functional Safety / Fail-Safe-Behaviour All safety related functions, internal components and the external wiring are continuously monitored by the device itself. Filling release is only permitted if periodic self-testing operates properly. 2.4 Easy Configuration via Joystick For a speedy configuration at the installation site, the EUS-2 device features a unique joystick control. It is situated easily accessible inside the device housing and allows an intuitively configuration with concurrent view to the graphic display. 2.2 Special Explosion Protection Concept Timm Elektronik s special explosion protection concept incorporates protection by intrinsic safety, increased safety and powder filling. With no Ex d enclosure required, the device can be opened when power is switched on for accurate configuration and maintenance in hazardous areas. A shipment to manufacturer or a renewal of the housing gasket is not necessary. Joystick for menu-driven device configuration 2.5 Graphic Display The large, multi-functional graphic display indicates actual operating status and autodiagnosis information as plaintext messages. In combination with the joystick control, simple menu-driven and selfexplaining configuration and easy failure analysis is provided. Several character-sets are available for different languages. 4 2.6 Bright Signal Light The EUS-2 device is equipped with a clearly visible bright multicolour LED signal light. With its bevelled edges, the light is visible in a wide range of angles. This leads to unambiguous indication of operational status and time efficient utilisation at filling station. Graphic display and signal light 2.7 Control Outputs and Data interface Six control outputs enable advanced options for connecting the control device according to individual customer needs: 2 Filling Release Contacts (redundant, potential-free, intern monitored) 2 Additional Contacts 2 Electronic Outputs The serial data communication interface facilitates process integration. Operational state commands can be transmitted to external process control. This allows remote diagnosis and process visualisation. The analysis of the different control signals enables to distinguish, whether a filling process got interrupted due to a correctable error (e.g. missing vapour recovery hose connection) or an actual overfilling. 2.8 Reliable Grounding Verification The EUS-2 device features continuously grounding verification and the ability for setting the grounding limit value exceeding EN requirements. Grounding is performed and monitored independently of truck configuration: Control outputs 2.9 Extended Area of Application The type of explosion protection makes the control device applicable to Gas Group IIB for filling even pure Ethanol. Furthermore, with its extended temperature range from -40 C up to +60 C, the device provides reliable operation under extreme climate conditions. 5 3 Accessories With the overfill prevention control device EUS-2, a wide range of accessory equipment is available by TIMM Elektronik. 3.1 Coiled Cables The coiled cables are offered in two lengths (expandable to 3.5 or 7 m), with wiring and plugs according to EN and API RP 1004, as well as with or without 16-pole disconnector plug. 3.2 Disconnector Sockets Coiled cable with truck connector plug EUS-1-SSK-3 EUS-1-SK7: PUR coiled cable (blue) with truck connector, cable length approx. 2.6 m, expandable to approx. 7 m for direct connection to the control device. EUS-1-SSK7: as type above-mentioned, but with additional disconnector plug for connection to socket EUS-1-ST or EUS- 1-STP. EUS-1-SSK3: as type above-mentioned, but with short coiled cable; cable length approx. 1.5 m, expandable to approx. 3.5 m; particularly in combination with disconnector socket type EUS-1- STG11/11P at loading arm. Available Truck connector plugs mounted to the coiled cable: 10-pole plug (black) with four attachment locking pins according to EN (featuring ten electrical contacts) respectively API RP 1004 (featuring eight electrical contacts). 7-pole plug (blue marked) according to API RP 1004, with three attachment locking pins and featuring six electrical contacts. The following intrinsically safe disconnector sockets are available: For Installation at filling station: EUS-1-ST: disconnector socket to connect a plug-in coiled cable type EUS- 1-SSK3 or EUS-1-SSK7. Socket complete with 1 m uncoiled cable for connection to the control device. EUS-1-STP: as type above-mentioned, but with additional truck socket for detecting of the truck connector in park position status by integrated socket code generator. EUS-1-ST2P2: dual disconnector socket for connecting two coiled cables with different plugs to the controller permanently; including park position socket Parking socket for truck connector plug Surplus pins are used with API corresponding plugs for detecting park position in combination with suitable disconnector sockets Disconnector socket EUS-1-STP 16-pole disconnector socket with bolt handles 4 Date: 04 Dec 2013 / Version 1.1

It is equipped with a socket for connecting to the truck connector cable as well as with different testing switches to simulate the criteria grounding, vapour recovery hose connection and individual sensor status. The testing equipment is available with receptacles for plugs according to EN or API RP For installation at vapour recovery arm (close to coupling): EUS-1-STG11: disconnector socket at loading arm to connect the plug-in coiled cable type EUS-1-SSK3. With 11 m uncoiled cable for installation at the vapour recovery arm and cable routeing to the control device. EUS-1-STG11P: as type abovementioned, but with additional truck socket for detecting the truck connector in park position status by integrated socket code generator.
