5 Accessory TS INTRODUCTION The Accessory TS (ACC-TS) provides a breakout for A-D converter signals for PMACA PC/. It provides box header connectors (IDC -pin) for two ACC-B (A0-0-x), channels, -bit A/D converter boards. Note: The same channel cannot be used for both Direct PWM and A/D conversion (ACC-B). When a digital amplifier with current feedback is used, the analog inputs provided by Opt- of the PMACA PC/, Opt- of the ACC-P or the ACC-B cannot be used. Compatibility The ACC-TS can be used only with the PMACA PC/ controller and ACC-B, interfacing through the JEXP and PC/ communication connectors. 7 Accessory TS HARDWARE SETUP Resistor Pack Configuration Termination Resistors The ACC-TS provides sockets for termination resistors on differential input pairs coming into the board. As shipped, there are no resistor packs in these sockets. If these signals are brought long distances into the ACC-TS board and ringing at signal transitions is a problem, SIP resistor packs may be mounted in these sockets to reduce or eliminate the ringing. All termination resistor packs are the type that has independent resistors (no common connection) with each resistor using two adjacent pins. At each of the four corners of the PMACA PC/ board there are mounting holes that can be used to mount the board on standoffs. Only one ACC-xS board (FS, ES or TS) can be stacked on top of a PMACA PC/ main board or on top of an ACC-P (Axis -) board. Power Supply Connection The ACC-TS requires VDC power for its digital circuits. The digital V (regulated, +/-%) power can be provided through the JEXP Bus connector. The ACC-TS is stacked on top of the CPU/axis board or the ACC-P via electrically active ISA bus connectors, and it draws its V power from the bus automatically. In addition, TB can be used for externally powering up the system. Connection to PMACA PC/ The ACC-TS is stacked on top of the CPU/axis board or the ACC-P, through the PC/ bus connectors. [J (0-pin), J (0-pin), JA-JB (-pin), JC-JD (-pin)] Connection to ACC-B The ACC-TS, J and J connect to the J connector of the ACC-B via a -pin flat cable. J of the ACC-TS connects to the first ACC-B, and J of the ACC-TS connects to the second ACC-B. For software setup, refer to the PMAC section of the ACC-B Hardware Reference manual. Hardware Setup

10 Accessory TS Mating Connectors See the Connector Descriptions section of this manual for details on pin definitions. J and J These are -pin headers for connecting devices that use the ADC strobe, clock and serial data return lines to the PMAC. Typically, these inputs are used with Delta Tau s ACC-B A/D converter accessory. J for the first ACC-B and J for the second ACC-B Note: If CE approval is needed, then W, W, W and W must be jumper wired to capacitively couple-shield the D-type metal connectors with the chassis. In addition, CE, CE, CE and CE need a 0 capacitor to capacitively coupleshield the boards with the Chassis. Hardware Reference Summary
