5 NETWORK PREREQUISITES In order for the P1003 to successfully connect to the Innovolt Management Cloud (IMC), the following minimum requirements of the network environment must be met: 10/100 Ethernet port DHCP enabled server on the local network Internet access via HTTPS (port 443) INSTALLATION Note: The P1003 is intended for indoor use in dry conditions with unrestricted airflow. 1. Plug an Ethernet cable into either of the Ethernet ports on the back of the P Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into an Ethernet port that meets the minimum requirements stated above. If the equipment being protected by the P1003 is connected to an Ethernet port that meets the minimum requirements stated above, move the Ethernet cable from that port to the remaining port of the P1003 then plug the other end of the Ethernet cable from step 1 into the Ethernet port. This will provide Ethernet protection to the equipment as well. Note: Do not plug both P1003 Ethernet ports into the same external Ethernet switch. 3. Plug the power cord from your electrical equipment into the P1003 OUTPUT POWER CORD (with female 3 pronged connector). 4. Plug the P1003 INPUT POWER CORD (with male 3 pronged connector) into a 3-prong grounded outlet seconds after connecting power to the P1003, ensure that the GND Source Fault LED is illuminated green. This confirms that the input circuit is OK. If the GND LED is blinking red, there is either a faulty or nonexistent ground circuit (one blink repeated), the line and neural wires are reversed (two blinks repeated), or there is an excessive voltage difference between neutral and ground (three blinks repeated). These issues must be corrected prior to using the P1003 as it is only intended for use in facilities that are wired to the applicable Electric Code(s). 6. The PWR/DATA LED will illuminate green to indicate that the P1003 is operational and ready for use. 7. Confirm on the Innovolt Management Cloud (IMC) website that a Power On event has been registered for the serial number associated with this P1003. Page 4

6 TROUBLESHOOTING Problem P1003 does not power on. Troubleshooting If PWR/DATA green LED is not on solid or blinking, plug P1003 into a different, known good power outlet, if available. If power outlet is confirmed to be operating correctly but P1003 does not show a green PWR/DATA LED, contact Innovolt Customer Support for assistance. Is PWR/DATA LED flashing? If so, P1003 is initializing. This process should take around 5 seconds. P1003 is powered on, but my electrical equipment is not powering on. Is the Overvoltage/Brownout red LED on continuously? If so, the P1003 has detected an overvoltage or undervoltage condition, and has disconnected your electrical equipment to protect it. Wait for power to return to normal levels again. Confirm the equipment being protected is firmly plugged into the P1003 output cable. If none of the above fixes the problem, contact Innovolt Customer Support for assistance. MOV Fail LED is illuminated RED. This indicates that the P1003 has withstood significant power surges during operation, and the protective devices inside have been used up. The P1003 is still providing some overvoltage, undervoltage and sag protection, but your equipment is no longer protected from voltage spikes and surges. Contact Innovolt Customer Support for assistance. Are the yellow and green LEDs on the P1003 Ethernet port illuminated and/or blinking? If not, this indicates that the P1003 does not have an active Ethernet connection. If the yellow and green LEDs are illuminated and/or blinking The Innovolt Management Cloud is not showing an initial Power On event for the serial number associated with this P1003. Make sure you have waited a sufficient amount of time for a heartbeat message to reach the IMC. The default heartbeat interval is 300 seconds. Ensure there is a DHCP server available on the local network and it has addresses available to assign. Ensure that the P1003 has received a DHCP address. This can be done by doing a reverse lookup on the DHCP server using the MAC address that is printed on the P1003 label. If configured, ensure that the P1003 hostname is registered with the Domain Name Server. The hostname is P1003-MAC address. The MAC address can be found on the label with the serial number. Ensure an internet connection is available and HTTPS (port 443) is not being blocked by a firewall. Plug a laptop that has DHCP enabled into the Ethernet port the P1003 is plugged in to, open a web browser, and ensure you can navigate to Page 5

7 INNOVOLT MANAGEMENT CLOUD The P1003 will automatically connect to the Innovolt Management Cloud ( IMC ) once network connectivity is established. With the IMC you can access the telemetry from your P1003 devices, issue power cycle commands, and set the Heartbeat frequency. Create a Cloud Account 1. Open your Web Browser (latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and IE are supported) 2. Navigate to 3. Click the Sign Up Now link 4. Fill out all the fields and click the Sign Up button Page 6

10 Viewing Data in IMC IMC allows you to view data at multiple levels of detail. In addition you have the ability to add more information about a device and the equipment being protected by it. When you first login, you are presented with an overview of all the data available to your account. To quickly find a device you re looking for you can search for it using the Search field at the top of the screen. This will search on the Name, Serial Number, Type or Model fields. Page 9

12 This will take you to the Details page, where you can view and/or add information about this device. Page 11

13 You can click on the Measurement History Tab to see all the reads taken on this device. Click on the Events tab to view time stamped disturbance data collected by the P1003. Page 12

14 Click on the Instructions tab to issue a power cycle command to the P1003. You can specify the number of seconds you would like to have the P1003 power cycle the connected LOAD. You can issue a power cycle command for as little as 10 seconds or as much as 5 minutes (300 seconds). Once you issue the command it will execute the next time the P1003 checks in either by an event occurring or the next heartbeat (see below). Page 13

15 Click on the Configuration tab to configure the heartbeat interval of the P1003. A heartbeat is the P1003 checking in with IMC. The heartbeat is important for several reasons. For security, the P1003 must initiate the connection to IMC. It does this via a secure SSL connection. As such, there is no ability for IMC, or anything else, to reach out and access a P1003. The P1003 will send data to IMC any time there is an event. However, a heartbeat provides a consistent, reliable way to know that a device is connected and functioning properly on a regular basis. The heartbeat is how the P1003 checks for instructions (power cycle) and configuration changes (heartbeat interval). Page 14

16 The interval specifies how frequently the device checks in. You can configure this to be as often as every 30 seconds, or as long as every 12 hours. The time must be issued in seconds however. The default heartbeat for a P1003 is 5 minutes (300 seconds). Click on the Connected Equipment tab to add information about the equipment being protected by the device. Page 15
