As a general rule, if all the handling, transportation, and storage recommendations and installation, operation and maintenance instructions are followed, the products will operate correctly without risk for personnel or hardware. Device installation and set-up It is important to follow the rules below when installing and setting up the Brad HarshIO. If system installation includes products more than thirty meters away from each other, the basic cabling rules must be closely followed. Strict compliance with the safety instructions provided in this documentation or on the equipment to be installed and implemented, is absolutely essential. Make sure that the installation is carried out in compliance with regulations of the user country, Install the equipment in a suitable environment. As a closed equipment, the Brad HarshIO may be installed in two ways: o In a casing (cabinet, chest) or, o Directly without any additional protection, if the associated systems (power supply, cables, sensors, etc.) already carry a protection index equivalent to IP67 or higher. Always connect the Brad HarshIO to the protective earth (PE) in compliance with existing standards (for example: use the green/yellow wires in accordance with the NFC standard). LV (Low Voltage) circuits must have a protective earth connection to ensure dangerous voltage detection. Before powering up the device, check that the nominal voltage is the same as the mains voltage. Only use FELV (Functional Extra Low Voltage) power supplies which comply with existing standards. Check that the power voltages are within the tolerance ranges defined in the technical specifications for the devices. Always ensure that power restoration (immediate, hot or cold) will not create a hazard for personnel or equipment. Ensure that emergency stop devices remain effective in any equipment operation mode, even when abnormal (for example, in the event of a cut wire). Resetting these devices should not result in uncontrolled or undefined restarts. Position the signal cables so that the automation functions will not be disrupted by any capacitive, inductive or electromagnetic influences, etc. Install the automation devices and their controlling devices so that they are protected against any adverse incident. Adequate safety precautions must be applied to inputs and outputs to prevent the lack of signals from causing undefined states in the automation devices. 11 3. System description Overview HarshIO epn modules can be used with a protocol compliant scanner as part of control system architecture. The built-in unmanaged 2-port Ethernet switch allows flexibility in the network topology to meet your application needs. These topologies include the following: star daisy-chain combination of star and daisy-chain Star topology Star topology allows you to connect mixed I/O modules or additional equipment. This topology allows maintenance on one module for example, by removing the network cable, or by cycling power to the module without affecting the other modules. HarshIO 600 epn 11 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Daisy-chain topology NOTE: When considering the daisy chain topology, note that: If a module, somewhere in the middle of the chain, has the network cable disconnected or power to the module is removed then communications to any module located down the chain will be lost. The embedded dual port Ethernet switch located in each module eliminates the need for additional Ethernet switches. HarshIO 600 epn 12 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Combination of star and daisy-chain topologies Combining star and daisy-chain topologies allows you to connect HarshIO epn modules with mixed HarshIO modules or additional network devices. HarshIO 600 epn 13 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Typical application This diagram shows you an example of a typical application using an in-cabinet PLC controlling HarshIO epn modules that are mounted throughout this industrial system. HarshIO 600 epn 14 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Fast Start Up applications The HarshIO epn modules are designed to support the new Fast Start Up (FSU) feature according the PI specifications which allows to power up, connect a PROFINET IO-Controller and start I/O cyclic data exchange in less than 500 msec. The FSU feature is typically used in robotic application where some I/O devices are mounted on a tool changer. The robot can disconnect and reconnect on the fly a new tool without stopping the manufacturing process. The diagram shows you an example of a robotic application using FSU feature. Important: When FSU feature is used, the following recommendations should apply: The FSU device Ethernet switch ports must be configured with fixed speed to 100Mbps and full duplex enabled (auto negotiation is too slow to reach I/O cyclic data exchange in less than 500msec). The Ethernet cable mount on the robot must be connected to the ETH1 port (MDI port) of the HarshIO epn module. FSU devices shall not use Auto-MDIX (detection of the required cable connection type). This detection may take more time than the allowed FSU system connection time (see diagram below). HarshIO 600 epn 15 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Enabling FSU mode The HarshIO epn modules can be configured for FSU operation by setting the 2 record modules: 1. Activate FSU parameter: Write in record module PDInterfaceFSUDataAdjust (0x0608). This record module shall contain the FSHello module (0x0600). 2. Configure Ethernet ports: Write in record module PDPortDataAdjust (0x802F) Through the record PDPortDataAjust, only 100BASETXFD shall be supported (Field MAUtype = 0x10). Note: After each change of FSU mode (means enable disable), the HarshIO module stores the new requested mode in its non-volatile memory. The module behaves in this mode until the next modification. Note: The modification of a FSU mode is applied after the next power supply cycle of the module. For more information about Media Redundancy Protocol procedure, please consult the additional technical note. HarshIO 600 epn 16 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Separate grounding wiring for application using safety relays The HarshIO power connector includes a separate grounding galvanic isolation between the Input/logic ground and the Output ground. This feature allows powering the module with 2 distinct power supplies that is commonly used in safety application. Important Note: This feature is not available on HarshIO modules with User Configurable I/O versions. Typically in automation application, a system designer is using safety relays (like Rockwell Automation Guard I/O EtherNet/IP Safety Modules [1791ES-IB8XOBV4, 1791ES-IB16], Siemens PM-E F pp DC24V [6ES CF42-0AB0], Siemens PM-E F pm DC24V [6ES CF03-0AB0]) that regularly perform the pulse test to be able to detect a short circuit, ground fault or an earth fault. If an error is detected the safety function is triggered and unwanted and dangerous plant conditions are therefore avoided. Architecture using 2 distinct grounds with safety relay HarshIO 600 epn 34 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

However if the separate grounding for safety is not required by the system designer, the HarshIO modules can operate using a single ground for both logic/input and output. Architecture using a single ground Note, the connection of the common ground (Logic/Input + Output) is made outside the HarshIO module. HarshIO 600 epn 35 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Inputs / Outputs - Field devices (actuator or sensor) M12 Ultra-Lock (male A-coded) straight single-ended cordset N*16 (max.) N*8 Molex - (*) xy represents the length of the cordset in meter (M). For instance, 05 indicates a cordset of 5M. Available length 1M, 2M, 3M, 4M, 5M or 10M according to cordset reference (see Cables and Cordsets). Getting Started 1. I/O wiring a. Wire the inputs and/or outputs according to the drawings of chapter Port wiring type by using M12/Ultra-Lock (A-code) connectors. Depending on the model reference, the I/O port supports 2 digital channels (2 inputs or 2 outputs). Only one M12/Ultra-Lock (A-code) connector is needed for the 2 I/O channels, within a single I/O port. b. Connect\wire the I/O to each channel of the appropriate I/O Ports. 2. Power wiring c. Connect 24 VDC power to the Power connector (Ui) of the HarshIO 600. Warning: Power must always be applied to Module/Input power connector pin and to Output power connector pin for all modules except the Input only variation. d. If several HarshIO 600 modules are used, daisy-chain the outgoing Power connector (Uo) of the first module with the incoming Power connector (Ui) of the next one. 3. Communication wiring e. Connect the first HarshIO 600 module to the IO-Controller with the appropriate Ethernet network cable. 4. Apply Power Switch on the power supply module and observe the status LED. 43 6. PROFINET and related functions Module Startup Phase The HarshIO 600 epn is configured by the PROFINET IO-Controller through multiple Write.Req by using information contained in the GSD file. Until the PROFINET connection phase is done, the frames produced by the HarshIO module will be marked as STOP (apdu status). As soon as Application Ready is sent by the HarshIO module, the frames will be produced as RUN (apdu status). Topology Discovery (LLDP) LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) is a standard which provides a solution for the configuration issues caused by expanding LANs. LLDP specifically defines a standard method for Ethernet network devices such as switches, routers and wireless LAN access points to advertise information about themselves to other nodes on the network and store the information they discover. The HarshIO 600 epn manages LLDP as a sender and receiver; As a sender; each Ethernet port of the integrated switch of the epn module produces LLDP frame to its neighbor devices with the following information: o MAC address o Ethernet port identification o PROFINET name o Material number (TCDEP-xxxx) o Description name As a receiver; each Ethernet port of the integrated switch of the epn module consumes the LLDP frame of the neighbor devices. Note: LLDP is always active on the epn module. Easy Device Replacement PROFINET optimizes the device replacement and first commissioning processes. PROFINET devices are identified via a name that is assigned in the configuration. When replacing a defective device, a new device (with the same commercial reference) can be recognized by the IO-Controller by means of topology information and have a name automatically assigned to it. An engineering tool is therefore not required when replacing devices. This mechanism can also be used during the initial commissioning of a complete plant. Quick commissioning is thus especially possible for series machines. The HarshIO 600 epn supports easy device replacement service (based on LLDP receiver protocol). For more information about Easy Device Replacement procedure, please consult the additional technical note. HarshIO 600 epn 43 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Undervoltage Management The HarshIO module has a voltage monitoring of the auxiliary power supply (UL). If a or more Outputs are energized and if the auxiliary output power supply is cut or if the voltage drops below 17.5VDC, a single PROFINET alarm is sent (ALARM type = undervoltage appears) to the PROFINET IOcontroller. As soon as you reconnect the auxiliary output power or if the voltage rises above 18VDC, a new alarm is generated PROFINET (ALARM type = undervoltage Disappears). Remember also the digital Outputs behavior in case of module auxiliary power supply (UL) issue: a) Lost or drop of the auxiliary power supply under 17.5VDC All Outputs activated are de-energized All Outputs activated have their diagnostic leds to RED All Outputs activated have their Port Status (CS Ox) bit set to 1 b) Recover or rise of the auxiliary power supply above 18VDC All Outputs activated are re-energized All Outputs activated have diagnostic leds to GREEN All Outputs activated have Port Status (CS Ox) bit set to 0 Note: For all Outputs not energized, the diagnostic leds are OFF whatever the auxiliary power supply voltage. 45 Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) The Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) is a data network protocol standardized by the IEC It allows rings of Ethernet switches to overcome any single failure (with recovery time around 200ms) to bring higher plant availability. This means that a plant stop is prevented and the necessary servicing and repair work can be carried out with a limited time pressure. MRP protocol covers both the requirements of PROFINET IO communication as well as the standard TCP/IP communication. MRP operates at the MAC layer of the Ethernet switches. In an MRP ring, the ring Manager is named Media Redundancy Manager (MRM), while ring clients are named Media Redundancy Clients (MRCs). The HarshIO 600 epn has an integrated 2-port Ethernet switch supporting MRP Client. See below the typical architecture using HarshIO PROFINET modules. The HarshIO 600 epn supports only the MRP Client mode. Out-of-box, the HarshIO MRP Service is disabled. To activate the MRP feature, you can use the HarshIO embedded web site and proceed to the configuration (see Chapter - PROFINET Advanced Features Configuration (FSU, Ethernet Port, MRP)) or from the engineering software of the PROFINET IO-Controller. HarshIO 600 epn 45 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

- Screen shot of the Siemens TIA Portal MRP configuration tab - Note: Whatever the method used to configure the HarshIO MRP feature, this is the last method used (Web or engineering software) who setup the module. So there is no protection between each mode. Warning: MRP Client feature is not compatible with PROFINET FSU feature according PI PROFINET specifications. For more information about Media Redundancy Protocol procedure, please consult the additional technical note. Module Alarms An alarm will be sent to the PROFINET IO-Controller. 48 7. Configuration using S7 Hardware Manager This chapter presents an example of how to proceed to the commissioning of the HarshIO PROFINET modules based on the Siemens Step7 Hardware Configuration (HW_Config) software. GSD File Before proceeding to the product commissioning, the HarshIO modules require a description file (also called GSD or GSDML file) that has to be imported in the Simatic Step7 software. The GSD file as well as the product documentation can be downloaded: 1. from the Molex web site and use option 1 Search by part number to look for TCDEP-8xxP-D1U-G (5-pin power connector) or TCDEP-8xxP-DYU-G (4-pin power connector) parts. Fig.A: Molex download section 2. or directly from the HarshIO module through its integrated web site. 51 Configure a HarshIO device name and IP address PROFINET uses name to identify the I/O devices on the network. Each device must have a unique name on the network. The device name must be written in lowercase. To modify the module name, double click on the HarshIO product picture to open the module Properties dialog. Fig.D: Selecting Properties dialog box HarshIO 600 epn 51 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

By default, the HarshIO name displayed is the one defined in the GSD file harshio600-epn. You have to set the name according the HarshIO module name connected to the PROFINET network. If you don t know module name or if you are doing the commissioning of the HarshIO module for the first time, read the section Assigning device name. For the selected HarshIO module, you also have to configure the associated IP address corresponding to the module name. The IP address must be unique. Fig.E: HarshIO name and IP configuration Remember! At the PROFINET connection phase between the PLC and the device, the controller sets the IP address defined in this property box whatever is the IP already stored in the HarshIO device. Warning! It is highly recommended to define the HarshIO module names and IP addresses before doing the configuration to ensure a successful commissioning. HarshIO 600 epn 52 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Configure HarshIO module parameters To open the module parameters dialog box, select the head module (slot 1), double click and select the Parameters tab. Only HarshIO modules with Output digital channels have parameters to configure. Output fallback value behavior: Define the value of the outputs when the HarshIO module lost the I/O connection with the PLC according o Set Output value to zero o Set Output value to last valid o Set Output value to fallback value Output fallback value for Ox Define the value (False or True) of the selected Output. This parameter is applied only if the previous parameter Output fallback value behavior is set to Set Output value to fallback value. Fig.F: HarshIO module parameters HarshIO 600 epn 53 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Assigning device name Before assigning a device name, you have to identify the HarshIO module on the PROFINET network. The identification of a PROFINET device is performed using the MAC address and the device type. Remember, the HarshIO module must be physically connected to the Siemens controller to able the identification. Select PLC menu Ethernet Edit Ethernet Node and click on Browse to open the Browse Network dialog box. Click Start to start the discovery. Fig. G: List of detected PROFINET devices The identification of a HarshIO module is done using a blink test command. This test causes the display of the BLNK message on the 4-digit module display. To perform the identification test, choose a HarshIO module in the detected device list and click Flash button. Remember! HarshIO module has the following default factory settings MAC address: 00-A0-91-xx-xx-xx IP address: Device type: IP67 Module name: harshio600-epn HarshIO 600 epn 54 IP67 Digital I/O Modules for PROFINET IO

Now the HarshIO device is positively identified, the next step is to assign a device name. Select OK to close the Browse Network box and go back to Edit Ethernet Node dialog box. In the Assign device name area, type the HarshIO module name (here tooling-1) and select Assign Name button. The device name must be written in lowercase. Fig. H: Assigning HarshIO module name Warning! the HarshIO module name must match the device name defined in the module configuration; see the section Configure a HarshIO device name and IP address.
