5 1. General Description Introduction The HarshIO 600 epnfor Profinet is robust range of Ethernet devices, for harsh environment, providing Profinet connectivity to sensors/actuators It also includes a 2-ports embedded (unmanaged) Ethernet switch with cross-over capability. The HarshIO 600 epn design integrates the Ultra-Lock connector system. The modules are available in various combinations: - 16 Inputs PNP - 16 Inputs NPN - 16 Input/Output points configurable IMPORTANT: After power-on, the HarshIO 600 epn is ready to operate within 5s (Power On Self Test procedure). Model reference TCDEP-8D0N-D1U TCDEP-8D0P-D1U TCDEP-8YYX-D1U Description IP67 Profinet, Classic, 8 digital ports, 16 Inputs NPN IP67 Profinet, Classic, 8 digital ports, 16 Inputs PNP IP67 Profinet, Classic, 16 self-configuring* PNP or NPN Input / Output points (*) The configurable type (a point can be either an Input or an Output) allows the user to define a specific behavior of the I/O point. Thus, user can connect either a sensor (NPN or PNP) or an actuator. Each point, defined as an Input or an Output, appears in both process image (input and output). 1 If the point is used for an actuator, the output state is mirrored in the corresponding input bit in the Input Process image. 2 If the point is used for a sensor, do not write in the corresponding output bit of the process image, as it can conflict with the current state of the sensor. Standard features HarshIO 600 epn I/O Block supports the following: - Web server interface. - PROFINET IO-Device specification V2.2 (Certified). - LLDP (sender only). - For the configurable block (TCDEP-8YYX-D1U) : o Mode: Input or Output or In/Out. o Input type: PNP or NPN. o o Input filter: 0 to 5ms. Watchdog : x100 ms. Output behavior on watchdog: Hold values or pre-set values. Note: The I/O block is LLDP sender only. This is why we strongly recommend using Ethernet switches (except this is a full daisy topology) supporting LLDP protocol. If you do not apply this recommendation, it may cause unexpected behavior like communications breakdown after several hours of operation. 5

15 Network Address setting Each is configured in DCP mode by default. This mode allows an engineering tool to set the IP configuration through DCP requests. The default IP Address is and the default mode is DCP. To change the network address, one of the following methods can be used: The push-buttons under the clear window of the HarshIO 600. o Right button behavior (clockwise) : xxx.xxx.xxx.001 xxx.xxx.xxx.254 DCP FACTORY Static IP o Left button behavior (counterclockwise) : xxx.xxx.xxx.001 xxx.xxx.xxx.254 DCP FACTORY Static IP When a new IP address mode is selected, it will be validated after 5 seconds of inactivity on the pushbutton. An IP address is divided into two parts: the network address and the host identifier. The subnet mask determines how the IP address is divided into network and host parts. When changing DCP mode into Static IP mode, the network address will be the last one in use. The host identifier value used will be the shown value by the display. For instance: 1. IP configuration is in DCP mode. The current IP configuration is: a. IP address = b. Subnet mask = IP configuration goes to Static mode and the shown value is 4 (press the right button until the shown value is 4). The new IP configuration is: => shown value by the display is 4 a. IP address = b. Subnet mask = In this example, for this IP address ( ), the network address is and the host identifier is 1 due to the subnet mask is Caution: If an I/O connection is active with an IO-Controller, it will not be possible to change the IP address. 15

18 Configuration by IO-Controller Classic is configured by the Profinet IO-Controller through multiple Write.Req by using information contained in the GSDML file. Until the connection phase is done, the frames will be marked as STOP (apdu status). When application ready is sent by the I/O Block, the frames will be marked as RUN (apdu status). NB : When an I/O error occurs (short-circuit), the quality of data will be set to BAD. An alarm will be sent to the controller. This alarm will have these characteristics: Alarmtype : Diagnosis API : 0x00 SlotNumber : 0x01 SubslotNumber: 0x01 channelproperties.speifier : 0x0001 (Appears) channelerrortype: 0x0001 (short circuit) When the short circuit disappears, the quality of data will be set to GOOD. An alarm will be sent to the controller. This alarm will have these characteristics: Alarmtype : Diagnosis API : 0x00 SlotNumber : 0x01 SubslotNumber: 0x01 channelproperties.speifier : 0x0002 (Disappears) channelerrortype: 0x0001 (short circuit) This is the only way to configure the block. By this method it is easy to replace a block by a new one (with the same name configured via engineering tool). Also, the new block will be automatically configured with the same parameters than the old one. GSDML Files Configure the Classic via the GSDML file. 20 User Scenario Maintenance case The universal HarshIO600 epn could be used easily as a safety stock. It could replace any HarshIO 600 epn on a PROFINET network. The only thing to do is to set the same name as the HarshIO 600 epn in fault. In this case, the connection will be established without any problem. However, the connection diagnostic will display ModdifBlock. For example : the ModdifBlock information between this Universal HarshIO device & a Siemens controller can be detected in Online mode. (below screenshot) Click on Display button to have the details of the ModdifBlock : 20
21 Warning Set name scenario The PROFINET IO protocol identifies any IO-Device through a name. The factory default name of an HarshIO 600 epn is molex-harsh600-ip67. This name can be changed at any time using an engineering tool. When a connection is already established with an IO-Controller, the connection will be lost when changing IO-Device name. State Comment At this step, the IO-Controller has established a connection to the IO- Device named Harch.Device.1. The I/O data are exchanged. At this step, the engineering tool will change the name of the IO-Device to Harsh.Device.2 The IO-Device name is changed to Harsh.Device.2. The name was changed successfully and the connection is lost. The I/O data are no more processed. 21
22 PROFINET factory values are: From an engineering tool, it can be possible to do a Factory Reset. In this case, the different values IO-Device name = IP address = Network Mask = Gateway address = Ethernet Port configurations are in auto negotiation. 22

41 7. Specific Behavior Watchdog behavior When the Watchdog parameter (parameter present during the I/O connection) is different than 0 then the watchdog mechanism is activated. Value set to 0 disables the watchdog mechanism. - If any access is made on Output Data (write access) during this period (Watchdog_value * 100 ms) then the watchdog procedure is activated. - When the watchdog is activated then output are not available. - Each write access on the Output resets the scan time of this period. - The watchdog procedure applies the Watchdog_behavior state : o hold last state output or o apply Output Fallback To reset the watchdog when it is activated, it will be necessary to open a new I/O connection (Exclusive Owner). The following diagram describes the procedure to follow, to start-up the module again: Watchdog active Reset watchdog Initiate Run mode Removing +24 output voltage If +24 output voltage is removed and that - No output is energized, no alarm will be sent to the IO Controller and no message will be scrolling on the display. - Some outputs are energized, an alarm (Short circuit) will be sent to the IOC. Refer to the part Configuration by IO Controller to know the type of alarm. The IO_ERR message will be scrolling on the display. From the IOC diagnostic tool, the short circuit error will be indicated. Both IO_ERR message and Short circuit error will disappear when the +24 output voltage is back (module firmware must be equal or upper to V ) 41
42 Keep Trace Status / Reset Trace Status The Trace status allows you to know if some I/O error occurs (short-circuit). When the Keep Trace Status is selected from the GSDML into the engineering console, the module will behave as follows : - If +24 output voltage is removed and that some outputs are energized then: The IO_ERR message will be scrolling on the display The current status will be set to 1. The trace status will be set to 1. - When the when the +24 output voltage is back The IO_ERR message will disappear (module firmware must be equal or upper to V ) The current status will be set to 0. The trace status will be set to 1. To reset the trace status, use the Web server or send an acyclic write message (refer to p17) or power cycle the module. When the Reset Trace Status is selected from the GSDML into the engineering console, the module will behave as follows : - If +24 output voltage is removed and that some outputs are energized then: The IO_ERR message will be scrolling on the display The current status will be set to 1. The trace status will be set to 1. - When the when the +24 output voltage is back The IO_ERR message will disappear The current status will be set to 0. The trace status will be set to 1.
