3 FEATURES Miniature size: 17mm*27mm*4mm(without connector, bond wire to control terminal) 17mm*27mm*6mm(2*5 connector, 2mm) Range and Precision Automatic Adjust Multiple Digital Output UART Communication Output Minimum Capacitance Detection less than 1pf DESCRIPTION is a micro capacitive sensor detection controller. It is cost-effective, and simply installed. can convert the feedback of capacitive sensor (such as liquid detection, proximity switch) to digital output by creating excitation wave. can detect a capacitive value variation less than 1pf. It adopts intelligent adaptive control, can adjust measuring range and sensitivity according to capacitive sensor connected and current situation automatically, and then get the best detection precision. Furthermore, the included precision potentiometer can make further adjustment. has a compact size at 17mm 27mm. The metallic shield offers protection against electrical field disturbances, and mechanical protection for internal chip. 5 TYPICAL APPLICATION controller s wiring is shown in following figure. User only needs to connect the capacitive sensor to the controller. can be used in following appilication: Needle liquid level detection, Container liquid level detection and Capacitance value detection. Note: In order to avoid the external interference in the signal transmission process, please use coaxial cable to connect sensor and controller, if user do not want to use a coaxial cable, please make sure that the sensor and the controller be close. Probe needle liquid level detection In needle liquid level detection application, needle (made by conducting material) should be connected to terminal, and the pedestal of container (or rack, or any conducting object near the container) should be connected to A terminal. 7 Capacitance value detection In capacitance value detection application, the conductive body of detected capacitance should be connected to and A terminal respectively. 8 C/D DIGITAL OUTPUT -D compares the voltage value of POT and the capacitance value detected, and then according to the result, the LED on port - will be on or off (Table 0-3). Since -D adopts OC, when one LED is light, the corresponding port will be grounded. (Figure 0-5) Digital Output Circuit The inner drive of UIS 1200-D adopts OC (Figure 0-5). When the dynatron is open, the voltage of Dn will be, and the corresponding LED will be off. When the dynatron is connected, the voltage of Dn will be 0V, and the corresponding LED will be light. Users can get the variation of the capacitance value via the status of those LEDs. The drive capability (absorption current) of Dn ports is no less than 50mA. Figure0-5: digital output circuit Dn(n=1~5) μc WORKING PRINCIPLE and LOGIC -D has an embedded high-performance DSP. It can convert the variation of capacitive to corresponding voltage, and show the result via LED or OC port. The logic between status of Dn and LED is shown in Figure 0-6. According to TH, the controller sets TH automatically, user can not alter it. POT Adjust Process Take needle liquid level detection for example, the following section will describe the steps of setting the threshold by adjusting POT. Once -D is power on, it will automatically calibrate zero level. Then the LED on will be light, which means the environment capacitance value (such as the capacitance value between the needle adapter and the current-carrying plate on left) is set to zero. 11 Adjust POT to achieve follow status: once the needle is plugged in (capacitance value will increase several pf), LED on will be light, once the needle is pulled, LED on will be off. Define the capacitance value at this status as TH. Once TH is set, the needle is on or not can be simply detected via the status of LED on. Once the needle head contacts with liquid, the capacitive value will rise sharply, and go over TH, then LED on will be light, the output of will be grounded.
