DO NOT incinerate even if severely damaged or completely worn out. The battery can explode in a fire. Toxic fumes and materials are created when lithium ion batteries are burned. If battery contents come into contact with the skin, immediately wash area with mild soap and water. If battery liquid gets into the eye, rinse water over the open eye for 15 minutes or until irritation ceases. If medical attention is needed, the battery electrolyte is composed of liquid organic carbonates and lithium salts. Contents of opened battery may cause respiratory irritation. Provide fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Burn hazard. Battery liquid may be flammable if exposed to spark or flame. Fire hazard. Never attempt to open for any reason. If the housing is cracked or damaged, do not charge. Do not crush, drop or damage. Do not use if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, run over or damaged in any way (e.g. pierced with a nail, hit with a hammer, stepped on). Damaged Bluetooth adapters should be returned to the service center for recycling. 7 Additional Specific Safety Rules for Bluetooth Radio Adapter WARNING: Observe all operating instructions and safety regulations contained in the manual for the Bluetooth device and work site radio the adapter is used with. Do not store the device in cold areas. When the device returns to its normal temperature, moisture can form inside the device and damage electronic circuit boards. Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. Never use any charger that is damaged or an unapproved charger may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. Adhesive strip INTENDED USE The DeWALT Bluetooth radio adapter is designed to enable a worksite radio or other audio device to accept a Bluetooth signal from a mobile phone or other device with Bluetooth audio functionality. Do not use under wet conditions or in the presence of flammable liquids or gases. Do not let children come into contact with the unit. Supervision is required when inexperienced operators use this unit. Young children and the infirm. This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. This product is not intended for use by persons (including children) suffering from diminished physical, sensory or mental abilities; lack of experience, knowledge or skills unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety. Children should never be left alone with this product. Operation Instructions for Use Warning: Always observe the safety instructions and applicable regulations. NOTICE: It is recommended to fully charge the unit before using it for the first time. 29

9 Charging the Adapter The DCR002 has an internal, non-removable, rechargeable battery. Do not attempt to remove the battery from the device as you may damage the device. To charge the unit, connect the USB charging cable into the charging port (c) on the unit and then plug it in to an appropriate USB port. Longest life and best performance can be obtained if the battery pack is charged when the air temperature is between 18 and 24 C (65 F 75 F). DO NOT charge the battery pack in an air temperature below +4.5 C (+40 F), or above C (+105 F ). This is important and will prevent serious damage to the battery pack. NOTE: While the unit is charging, the LED indicator (b) will be on solid red. If playing music while charging the LED will alternate red and blue. When charging is complete, the red LED indicator will be off. When the unit needs to be charged the LED indicator will flash red once every 20 seconds. The Bluetooth device will fully recharge in 4 hours or less. Functionality Turning the Adapter on and off To power the adapter on press and hold the control button (a) for 4 seconds. The LED indicator will flash blue for 3 seconds indicating the unit is on. To power the adapter off press and hold the control button for 4 seconds. The LED indicator will flash red for 3 seconds indicating the unit is powering off. Pairing the Adapter with a Bluetooth AUDIO Device (FIG. 1) 1. Place the adapter and the Bluetooth audio source within one metre of each other. 2. With adapter off, press and hold the control button (a) for 8-9 seconds until the LED (b) rapidly flashes red and blue. This puts the adapter in pairing mode lasting for 2 minutes. 30

10 3. Activate the Bluetooth search function of your audio device or mobile phone. Once the adapter is found (will appear as: DeWALT Adapter DCR002) confirm pairing on your device. Once pairing is successful the rapid red/blue flashing of the LED will cease and the indicator will flash blue once every 5 seconds. If paired successfully, your audio device should now be able to connect with the adapter. Consult with your device s owners manual for details on pairing and connecting. Adapter is charging while connected to an audio device Adapter is charging Connecting and mounting the adapter to a worksite Radio (Fig. 2, 3) The Bluetooth adapter is compatible with all DeWALT work site radios, most non-dewalt work site radios and other audio devices with a standard 3.5mm audio in jack. The Bluetooth adapter can be mounted and stored on a work site radio or other speaker by mounting the adapter storage clip (e) to the radio. Being mindful of the adapter s cord length in relation to your radio s audio jack, apply the adhesive strips (f) provided on the back of the storage clip and to a flat surface on your radio, refer to figure 3. Slide the adapter into the storage clip and connect the 3.5 mm audio plug (d). Remove adapter from clip for charging if necessary. 31

11 Important Bluetooth Adapter Notes 1. When receiving a phone call on a mobile phone which is streaming to the Bluetooth adapter, the music will automatically pause. 2. The unit can be used while charging, but if the charging connection is established while in use, plugging in the unit will turn it off and the unit will need to be turned back on and possibly reconnected. 2. Optimum Bluetooth streaming range is roughly 9 m (line of sight) to the adapter but distances up to 30 m are possible. Physical obstacles, other wireless devices or electromagnetic devices may affect the connection quality. NOTE: If Bluetooth connection is lost due to a time of separation exceeding the optimum distance, obstacles or otherwise reconnecting your device with the adapter may be necessary. 3. Due to the characteristics of Bluetooth technology, the sound heard through the work site radio is slightly delayed from the sound played on your audio device or mobile phone while talking on a phone call or streaming music. Maintenance Your DeWALT unit has been designed to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper unit care and regular cleaning. The internal battery is not serviceable. Lubrication Your unit requires no lubrication. 32

12 Cleaning Warning: Never use solvents or other harsh chemicals for cleaning the non-metallic parts of the unit. These chemicals may weaken the materials used in these parts. Use a cloth dampened only with water and mild soap. Never let any liquid get inside the unit; never immerse any part of the Bluetooth radio adapter into a liquid. Optional Accessories Warning: Since accessories, other than those offered by DeWALT, have not been tested with this product, use of such accessories with this unit could be hazardous. To reduce the risk of injury, only DeWALT recommended accessories should be used with this product. Consult your dealer for further information on the appropriate accessories. Protecting the Environment Separate collection. This product must not be disposed of with normal household waste. Should you find one day that your DeWALT product needs replacement, or if it is of no further use to you, do not dispose of it with household waste. Make this product available for separate collection. Separate collection of used products and packaging allows materials to be recycled and used again. Re-use of recycled materials helps prevent environmental pollution and reduces the demand for raw materials. Local regulations may provide for separate collection of electrical products from the household, at municipal waste sites or by the retailer when you purchase a new product. 33
