9 7. Functional description The Dürr VistaCam CL.iX wireless controlled camera system consists of a base station (8), a handpiece (1) with IFC-Optic (Iris Focus Control) and the handpiece holder (2). If desired either a cable-operated foot pedal (3a), or a radio-operated foot pedal (3b) can be connected to the system. The handpiece is connected via radio with the base station. The base station is supplied with power via mains cable and power unit. A USB 2.0 cable provides the connection between base station and PC. The handpiece switches on automatically as soon as it is removed from its handpiece holder or from the battery charger. Additionally, the handpiece can be operated using the controls at the lower end of the handpiece. Within the handpiece there are 6 white LEDs, which provide sufficient lighting. The special IFC- Optic allows macro, intraoral and extraoral images to be prepared. Within the macro and intraoral ranges the IFC Optic provides a high depth of field. In the extraoral range the IFC Optic has a high light intensity. The image is picked up by the IFC Optic and electronically converted into a video signal. The video signal is then transmitted by radio signal to the base station. The base station now digitalises the image data and transmits this data directly to the PC via the USB 2.0 connection. using the 360 all round manual release manual release its Sensitive Control means images on the monitor can be switched between Live Mode to Freeze Mode, saved or overwritten (depending on software). The manual release functions using a pressure sensitive ring switch and can be operated with the camera at any angle whatever simply by applying pressure with a finger. Operating the manual release causes a short, light vibration and an acoustic signal can be heard at the base station. The base station has several LEDs which serve the following functions: green LED blue LED yellow LED camera is ready there is a radio signal connection between camera (switched on) and base station. transmission of data between camera and PC, e.g. when live images are seen on the monitor. Diagnostics can be followed up using the digital image editing system DBSWIN. 2009/10 9

20 Disinfection and Cleaning Only disinfectants and cleaning agents specifically approved by Dürr Dental should be used. Other cleaning and disinfectant agents could damage the VistaCam CL.iX and its accessories. IstaCam 12.1 Cleaning the optical lens We strongly recommend using the cleaning set for Dürr VistaCam-Optic, order number: The use of disinfectant wipes, or a fluid disinfection agent to clean the optic part is NOT recommended. These could have dirt deposits Cleaning and disinfecting handpiece and other accessories The handpiece and accessories can be cleaned and disinfected using a disinfection cloth such as Dürr FD 350. Damage to the handpiece: Do not use any sharp or abrasive cleaning materials. The surface of the appliance may be damaged. Do NOT place the handpiece in an autoclave, immerse in disinfectant or clean using a disinfectant spray. These could all lead to the handpiece being destroyed Cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation of distance spacers Set up according to ISO When cleaning, disinfecting, sterilising and storing the special adapters for spacing (16), observe the relevant national and local regulations! Preparation for cleaning If necessary, remove coarse dirt particles using a disinfected disposable cloth (e.g. FD 350) /10
21 Automatic cleaning and disinfection, Operate the cleaning and disinfection appliance according to the manufacturer's instructions. 1. Place the spacer adapter in the sterilisation unit such that inner surfaces can be wellrinsed and water can drain off. 2. Set the cleaning and disinfection cycles according to the manufacturer's instructions. 3. After the cleaning and disinfection cycles check the spacer for any remaining signs of dirt, if necessary repeat the cleaning cycle. Manual cleaning and disinfection, Cleaning in a wet-chemical method using a disinfectant which is VAH/DGHM listed : Submerge the spacer adapter completely in an Instrument disinfection instrument disinfection cleaning agent, e.g. Dürr ID 212, ID 212 forte or ID 213; observe the manufacturer's instructions. After the cleaning and disinfection cycles check the spacer for any remaining signs of dirt, if necessary repeat the cleaning cycle. Rinse the spacer well. Dry using a hygienic disposable cloth or under the application of compressed air. Visual inspection Frequent use and subsequent cleaning of this part will not have any effect on the spacer. The life expectancy will depend largely on daily wear and whether there is any damage during usage. Check the spacer and, if necessary, dispose of any damaged spacer. Before disposing of a used spacer adapter disinfect and sterilise well. Packaging Sterilise the distance spacer either packed or unpacked in a container or in sterile product packaging. Use suitable sterile product packaging! Sterilisation Before using the distance spacer place it in a vacuum-steriliser unit at 134 C for at least 3 minutes at 3 bar absolute / 0.3 MPa absolute and humidity of 100 %! Do not exceed 134 C! Do not put these spacers into hot air sterilisation units! Place filter paper on the floor of the sterilisation tray. Avoid any metal contact of the distance spacer with other instruments or the edges of the tray. Do not place spacers touching the heating elements or so they can come into contact with the inner edges of the middle tray. Always sterilise the spacers together with other instruments, as this ensures a constant and balanced distribution of heat. Storage Store the spacers with adequate contamination protection. The above instructions for the correct preparation of the distance spacer adapters for reuse has been validated by Dürr Dental as suitable. The user is responsible for ensuring that these steps are carried out using the appropriate equipment, materials and by suitably trained staff in order to achieve the desiraed results. To ensure this, it is necessary to monitor and validate the process. Any deviation from the instructions described above by the operator could lead to negative consequences regarding their effectiveness. 2009/10 21
