1 1/8 RM1763 Occuswitch Wireless sensor 8.1 mm 25 mm 56.4 mm General description The OccuSwitch Wireless family exists of a wireless sensor and an actuator (relay-box). Savings of up to 30% can be achieved by simply turning the lights off in unoccupied areas. The OccuSwitch Wireless is designed for an area of 20 to 25 m2, but the area can be expanded to 160 m2 by adding extra sensors. It is possible to link up to 10 sensors and actuators per network. The wireless sensor enables easy installation and mounting onto the ceiling or any location. The actuator is connected to the mains wiring at a convenient place in the (corridor) ceiling. The OccuSwitch Wireless family exists of: RM1763/00 Wireless Sensor (Movement detector and daylight override) RA1750/00 Wireless Universal Actuator CC1720/00 Wieland cable for the Actuator CC1723/00 Cable with standard mains plug (type F meets Europe) CC1727/00 Cable with standard mains plug (type E meets France a.o.). ø 83.6 mm ø 83.6 mm RM1763 dimensions Mounting plate dimensions CC1720 Wieland cable CC1723 St plug type F CC1727 St plug type E GST18i3 or plug F or E GST18i3 or plug F or E 500 mm MRT3 P 5,08/6 VE RA1750 OccuSwitch Wireless actuator CC172x dimensions 154 mm 49.2 mm mm 47.2 mm RA1750 dimensions
2 2/8 Applications The OccuSwitch Wireless is designed for use in offices and similar applications like classrooms, including restrooms, corridors, storage and copy rooms, break areas, etc. The OccuSwitch Wireless detection pattern (see drawing) is 3.6 by 5.4 meters for small movements (desk work) and 5.4 by 7.2 meters for larger movement like walking. 3.6m 5.4m h = m 3.6 m 5.4 m Standard application 5.4m 3.6m 5.4 m h = 2.5 m 7.2 m 3.6m 5.4m Detection pattern Parallel design Parallel design is used to enlarge the coverage area of OccuSwitch Wireless. It is possible to connect up to 10 devices in a single wireless network. When one of the sensors detects movement all actuators will switch the lights on. With the sensors OccuSwitch Wireless can cover a variety of areas. The actuator can switch any load up to 6A (1380 VA). This has to be taken in account when luminaires are connected to the actuator To give an impression of the possibilities, 3 network designs are shown. etwork 1 and 2 show a design with 1 actuator and multiple sensors. The maximum distance between the actuator and the sensor is 10 m. etwork 3 show a design with multiple actuators and sensors, and the actuators are separated from the sensors by a wall (wood, stone with plaster or system wall, no reinforced concrete wall). The wall interferes the signal and reduces the maximum distance. The maximum distance between the actuators is 10 m. The maximum distance between a sensor and the closest actuator is 8 m.. Position OccuSwitch Wireless sensor Functions Automatic Control The OccuSwitch Wireless switches the lights on automatically when presence is detected and switches the lights off 1 to 30 minutes after the area is vacated. Daylight override It is possible to prevent the automatic switch on when sufficient daylight is available and only switch on when the daylight level drops below the required level. To enable this function it is necessary to set the required light level on the sensor. (See Menus on page 6). Features Smart timer On some occasions with very little movement it is possible that the standard delay time of the sensor is too short. If movement is detected immediately after switch off, the lights will switch on immediately and the delay time is automatically increased by 5%. Shield To prevent detection from areas like corridors, the sensor has a retractable shield that can be used to shield off areas. Pull out the sensor shield (indicated on the ring with a dot) and rotate it to the required side.
3 3/8 Channel change The channel change settings can be used to change the communication channel if needed to mitigate wireless interference. The channel change selects the best available channel to provide secure, reliable communication between devices. Power up state The power-up state is the action taken by the actuator after it is connected to the mains for the first time or when there has been a power failure. The power-up state can be set to OFF or O by configuring the actuator. ormal operation resumes after 30 seconds: o movement detection: lights will stay off. Movement detection and insufficient daylight: lights will switch on. USB interface The USB interface enables quick and simple software upgrades in the field and should be used by Philips engineers only. Replace sensor battery! Caution: Make sure first to read the SAFETY section before replacing the battery. To replace the battery of the sensor: Step 1 Rotate the sensor counterclockwise to remove it from the mounting plate. Step 2 In a safe and dry place, remove the old battery and insert a new battery. Caution: Use only a high quality AA 3.6V DC lithium! battery (SAFT S 14500) in the sensor. Use of an improper rated battery may damage the sensor. Step 3 Place the sensor back on the mounting plate and rotate clockwise to install it. Step 4 Dispose the used battery in a proper way. Keep the battery away from children. Do not disassemble the battery and do not dispose the battery in fire. USB Sensor battery low indication When the battery power is low the lights will blink once after 10 seconds, every time the lights are switched on. If several sensors are used the WIK test can be selected to indicate the sensor with the low battery power. The green ED starts to blink to indicate that the WIK test is in progress. The red ED starts to blink during the WIK test to indicate the sensor with the low battery power. When the battery power on one of the sensors is too low to send a signal, the actuator will keep the lights on. The red ED on the sensor starts to blink until the battery is completely empty. Testing features Walk test (sensor coverage test) The Walk test can be used to find the best sensor location. Activate the test on the sensor and walk around in the area. The illumination of the sensor ED provides instant feedback to quickly find an ideal sensor location, reducing errors and callbacks. WIK test (show linked devices) Installers can quickly test the wireless connection between the devices in the network with the WIK test, saving time and improving efficiency. ote: It is highly recommended to replace the batteries of all sensors in a network at the same time. Indication Period Meaning ights will blink once After 10 seconds at lights on Battery power is low on one of the sensors ights on Continuously Battery power is too low to send a signal Battery is completely empty
4 4/8 Fixing Install the actuator The sensor can be mounted onto the ceiling. When selecting a location for the sensor avoid obvious cold spots so that condensation does not occur. Also do not place the sensor close to heat sources or HVAC exhausts. The window arrow on the mounting plate of the sensor must point to the window. Install the sensor ø Max. 4 mm SAFT S14500 USB Max. 1 m Min. max. 10 m Window Fe 1 Fe d > 1 m WiFi 3 h = max. 4 m 2 PHIIPS min x h ø Max. 4 mm! Warning: Avoid wireless systems like WIFI/ZIGBEE within a radius of 1 m. Wireless systems may interfere with the network signal of OccuSwitch Wireless. As a result the OccuSwitch Wireless will continuously search for a channel which leads to reduced battery life. Avoid metal walls, metal ceilings, cable ducts, reinforced concrete walls etc, between the sensor and actuator. They will block the signal. h 1.5 x h lux 1.5 x h
