Document: S7 Driver Configuration S7 Driver Configuration Setting up the S7 driver to communicate with Siemens Hardware (S7-300/400 Series) using CP 5613/CP5611, CP1613 cards and Standard Network Adapter Card For CP5613/CP5611 1) Install CP card(s) 2) Load the appropriate Simatic Net Industrial Communications software for the type of communications desired. For Profibus Communications w/ CP5613 PCI card use DP-5613/Windows NT 4.0, 2000 Pro. For Profibus Communications w/ CP5611 card use PB Softnet S7 3) The following example uses a CP5613 card, however, configuration for a CP5611 card is nearly identical except for the Interface Parameter Assignment Used configuration in the PG/PC Interface utility. Run the COML S7 configuration utility under the Simatic Simatic Net program group. (See Fig. 1. below.) Open the appropriate text file (or create one if necessary) and make note of the field entries. Consult the Siemen s context sensitive help (F1) for additional information on these fields. These will be used in later steps to configure the S7 driver. If the required configuration is not already created: The Full Solution Of Automation Technology Page 1 of 23
Enter Node_name and select Profibus from the Network type drop down list Fill in the S7 connection fields: Name: Connection name VFD: Virtual Field Device name Remote Addr: Profibus node number of the CP module in the PLC rack. Local TSAP: TSAP for this station. This consists of exactly two groups (bytes). Each group is formed by two hexadecimal characters. The first group can contain a device ID. The second group must be 0. Remote TSAP: Remote TSAP for the partner station. (Address of the CPU Rack 0, Slot 2). This consists of exactly two groups (bytes). Each group is formed by two hexadecimal characters. The first group contains a device ID which is reserved for Simatic S7 resources - 01 = PG, 02 = OS, 03 = other. The second group contains the addressing of the Simatic PLC components - bit 7..5 = PLC rack, bit 4..0 = slot. Note that the PLC device is the CPU and not the CP. Click on the <Insert> button to add the new configuration to the S7 connection list or the <Replace> button for any modifications. The Full Solution Of Automation Technology Page 2 of 23
Go to the File menu, Save DB Text As,and Generate Binary DB As (This is a binary file (*.LDB) that will be used later in the PG/PC Interface configuration.) Fig. 1 4) Go to Setting the PG_PC Interface under the Simatic Simatic Net program group. (See Fig. 2. below.) 5) Select Access Point of the Application where CP-L2-1(2) represents the access point for Profibus Communications 6) Select the Interface Parameter Assignment Used for the type of communication card being used. For example: CP5613_5614 (PROFIBUS). Fig. 2 The Full Solution Of Automation Technology Page 3 of 23
7) To configure the PG/PC Interface with the binary file created from Step 3, click on the <Properties> button. Enable the Activate S7 checkbox and use the <Browse> button to set the path to the binary file. (See Fig. 3. below.) Click the <OK> button to return to the PG/PC Interface window and click on the <OK> button. If changes were made a warning will appear similar to the following depending on configuration: The following access paths were changed CP_L2_1: CP5613_5614 (PROFIBUS). Click the <OK> button. Fig. 3. The Full Solution Of Automation Technology Page 4 of 23
8) To verify communications between the PC card and the hardware return back to the PG/PC Interface screen and select the <Diagnostics> button and click on the <Test> button to test operation of the PC to CP card communications. Should get an OK along with the CP card station address and bus parameters. Click the <Read> button. All profibus nodes on the network should appear. (See Fig. 4 below.) If all nodes do not appear, check network parameters such as Transmission Rate, Address and Profile Settings. Fig. 4 The Full Solution Of Automation Technology Page 5 of 23
9) Load and configure the S7 driver in FIX. (See Fig. 5 below.) Select the CP_L2_1 under the communication processor field or type your own to coincide with the name used in the PG/PC Interface setting. Fill in the Virtual Field Device (VFD) and the Connection fields with the appropriate information matching that from the COML S7 configuration. Configure the poll records. Save and reload. Driver should now be able to communicate with the Siemens hardware. (See Fig. 6 for an example of an FIX Analog Input datablock configuration.) Start FIX and test function of the driver with Alarm History. Fig. 5 The Full Solution Of Automation Technology Page 6 of 23

For CP1613 1) Install CP card(s) 2) Load the appropriate Simatic Net Industrial Communications software for the type of communications desired. For Industrial Ethernet Communications w/ CP1613 PCI card use PG-1613/Windows NT 4.0, 2000 Pro. 3) Run the COML S7 configuration utility under the Simatic Simatic Net program group. (See Fig. 7) Open the appropriate text file (or create one if necessary) and make note of the field entries. Consult the Siemen s context sensitive help (F1) for additional information on these fields. These will be used in later steps to configure the S7 driver. 10 Go to the File menu, Save DB Text As,and Generate Binary DB As (This is a binary file (*.LDB) that will be used later in the PG/PC Interface configuration.) Fig. 7 4) Go to Setting the PG_PC Interface under the Simatic Simatic Net program group. (See Fig 8 below.) 5) Select Access Point of the Application where CP-H1-1(2) represents the access point for Industrial Ethernet Comm. 6) Select the Interface Parameter Assignment Used for the type of communication card being used. For example: CP1613(ISO). Fig.8 The Full Solution Of Automation Technology Page 10 of 23
7) To configure the PG/PC Interface with the binary file created from Step 3, click on the <Properties> button to open the Properties window. (See Fig. 9 below.)
